On entering around 1:30 pm on a Thursday, there were two couples standing at the unattended "please wait to be seated" sign, and I observed about half the tables in the front dining room had guests; the other half were covered with dirty dishes. Not wanting to spend an excessive amount of time, I peeked around the corner and observed two open seats at the small bar, so we took them instead. We had to move a dirty plate and glass over to the end of the bar. After about six minutes of sitting there with no bartender appearing we decided to just get a drink, and go elsewhere later for food. Finally a gal approached us, and it seemed that she was the only staff member on duty for both dining rooms and the bar. She was nice enough, but it was disappointing that she couldn't have just removed the dirty dishes which were six inches from my husband's elbow, not to mention the bar wasn't wiped down. The dishes were still there when we left. We caught her passing through after a while to ask for the tab, which was $7.77. My husband put down a $20 bill and she brought back $12.00. Now I realize some places are in a state of panic hysteria over "penny shortages" but you don't just round UP a guest's tab and certainly not by almost a quarter. Some places give you a discount for cash; this one penalizes you. The decor is nice, rustic and countrified. I don't know how the food is obviously. As we were leaving I noticed the front dining room tables still hadn't been cleared and we were there about 20 minutes.

Block and Brew - Nice decor except for the unbussed table which stayed like that the whole time we were there.

The wait is well worth it. My biggest tip is to arrive close to opening if you can. They're incredibly popular, and because their bread takes three days to make, they can sell out if there's an unexpected rush. One helpful note for first-time visitors is to walk all the way inside to place your order at the register in the back. We ordered the L'Alveo and the La Rossa, and both were outstanding. They happened to be serving them on gluten-free bread that day, due to the mad rush and honestly, I never would have known it was fantastic. The sandwiches were fresh, flavorful, and incredibly filling. The L'Alveo was rich, creamy, and wonderfully indulgent, while the La Rossa was bright and refreshing. The eggplant in the La Rossa was the star. Every bite was excellent. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the hospitality. The owner was warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate. We'll definitely be back. If you're thinking about trying this place, don't wait! Get there early before they sell out for the day!

I ordered my sandwich and got it without incident.....Until....... The cup of soup I ordered they didn't have enough of, so the guy said he needed to get more. I said I would wait with no problem. Seconds later he bought me out soup that I swear he added water to! It was broccoli and cheddar water! There was zero flavor and crackers didn't thicken it up! The sandwich was good. The manager did correct the issue, but overall, not a great first impression.

It's very cool on the inside with vintage and Indiana-themed decor, tin ceilings, and, of course, a potbelly stove. The staff were friendly. But brother and I were very confused about the ordering process. There wasn't a lot of directional signage showing where to start and each step of the process. I watched a few other customers go through and they didn't seem like they had a problem so maybe it was just us. Next time I would probably just order online and pick it up so I could avoid the in-person ordering process altogether. I had the turkey sandwich and it was pretty good. I would say definitely a step up from your typical sub sandwich chain in terms of flavor and toppings options. I tried the chili mac as well. The chili is definitely à la Wendy's but I enjoyed it. The mac and cheese was good as well. I'd probably get either on its own but not together again. I also tried the Potbelly/Zapp's collab chips, the Hot Pepper flavor. They were good but are definitely not for everyone. When I visited, most of their fountain soda options were out of order so I settled on a no sugar added Pineapple Passionfruit juice/soda which was actually pretty good. We'll definitely be back - especially to try out their milkshakes!
