I've lived my time on this earth blessed with a good life. We had the wondrous opportunity to live in beautiful Australia for work and we loved the country and the lovely people there, except for one single person. There was only one experience that tarnished our time while there - our dealings with Jodie Noll of LJ Hooker, Double Bay. We rented a home in Queens Park from Jodie Noll for a year. We had to leave a month before the lease was up and move back home to the US because my mother had a brain aneurysm and I wanted to be there for her as soon as possible. We had paid Jodie for the last month of the lease but we vacated the property more than one month early. Jodie reassured me that they would work to our best interests and made me feel like I could trust her. I felt grateful at the time, but it seems she took complete advantage of our situation. Before we left, she said the owner would like us to leave the washer and dryer we purchased for the place because they'd like to offer any future renters that perk. She said the owner would pay us the price we were already offered for reselling them back to our local appliance store from which we purchased them. We cancelled the driver pick-up date for which we had already arranged before our departure and told Jodie the amount she owed us. She agreed to reimburse us the amount along with our deposit. She took our forwarding address in California and promised to send the money she owed us. However, we were shocked to find that after we moved out (and across the world), Jodie made spurious claims of damages that were such outright lies that I was shocked she could live with herself. Shameful. I found this behavior distasteful, unethical, and immoral. When we occupied the property, there was a pest infestation (so bad I videoed it for my own humorous posterity) and the place was absolutely filthy (owner's daughter had lived there prior to us) but we cleaned it all up without complaint or "whinging" (again, I did video this to document it and notified Jodie's office of the condition). When we vacated, I left the house meticulously clean. So surprised was I to find, when we were not paid, Jodi Noll made claims of some wall dents that were already there before we lived there and of which I still have video footage already being there from our walk-through before we moved in. Jodie had no qualms about keeping our US $4800 deposit but then decides to add claims about damages and cleaning so as not to pay us for our washer and dryer. Instead she claimed damages and cleaning fees that magically and coincidentally and conveniently matched what was owed us for our appliances. I hope no one else suffers outright lying and stealing from their rental experience. I am sorry when people choose to behave unethically and are unscrupulously unashamed by it. Someone who takes advantage of another's dire situation is reprobate. read more
