The rooms are absolutely spotless and the beds are very homey, comfortable and clean. Free Wi-Fi and cable TV. Gail asked what type of breakfast we wanted in the morning and asked what time we would like it prepared. This place is PERFECT!! If I find myself within 100 miles of this place ever again I will make the effort to stay here I would highly recommend it!!

This place is absolutely adorable - perfect - cozy - and a home away from home. It's the perfect size. They provide a lot of things for their guests! There are bottles of water - soda - juice for in the morning. They also had a cheese and meat plate in the fridge for us. Keurig machine with lots of coffees - Creamer - crackers - tea - cutie oranges. You also have a choice or white or red wine. Breakfast is prepared and left in the fridge - let's just say I can't wait to go to bed tonight so I can have the rest of what was made In the morning! She made praline French toast (to die for!!!) - bacon - and yogurt parfait! Fresh eggs were left in the fridge and we made those to go along with everything else!! The town is maybe 10 minutes away - they do have a grocery store not too far away. If you are planning on coming in and staying - than go ahead and stop and get what you need! Our governing board spent the day working on strategic plans, all the while soaking up the unique character of the facility. The Harwelden is a warm and welcoming, one of a kind facility. The people at the Harwelden made us comfortable, and worked hand-in-hand with our caterer. Everyone was polite and responsive to our needs, making us feel at home. I attended a wedding at the Harwelden nearly 30 years ago. It was beautiful then, but the care and attention to detail taken in restoring and preserving the Harwelden Mansion is nothing short of spectacular. The Harwelden is a superb venue for a quiet retreat and overnight stay.

We ate off site a couple of times, but we enjoyed brunch with our host, Heather, the most in the common area. The fishing was eventful with about 12 snags of different kinds, blue gill, perch, big mouth bass, and crappie. The husband smiled ear-to-ear on the dock, pulling one out right after another.
