Third time's the charm!…read more The first two times we tried to eat at Hog Island Oyster Co., we took one look at the line and walked away. This visit, we came determined to finally see what all the hype was about--and I'm so glad we did. The wait was about 30 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad for such a popular spot. The best part? Once we were seated, service was incredibly efficient. Our food arrived quickly, giving us more time to savor every bite. The oysters were as fresh as they come--briny, sweet, and tasting like they had just come out of the bay. We ordered all three grilled oyster varieties, and each one was outstanding. The toppings added layers of flavor without masking what makes a great oyster so special: its delicate natural sweetness. It's a balance that's surprisingly hard to get right, and Hog Island nailed it. Then came the clam chowder. Wow. Velvety, rich, and loaded with tender clams, it had deep, comforting flavor without feeling overly heavy or salty. Easily one of the best clam chowders I've ever had. Now I completely understand why people are willing to wait in line. Some places are all hype--this isn't one of them. Hog Island absolutely lives up to its reputation, and we'll happily be back!

I hate cooked fish... WOW what a way to start a review for a Fish and Chips Place. But I love…read moreonion rings and it is hard to find truly house made and battered rings. Born and Raised in Pleasanton, lived in Livermore for past 25 years - see this place all the time but never went. Why - because the sign does not say Burger and Steaks.... But I saw a picture of the Onion Rings and that was the hook... so finally went and to be a good sport I ordered the 1 fish and 5 shrimp meal and Onions Rings. Let's get it over with the Onion Rings were amazing - the batter was light, not doughy ad the onions tender. I bet you want to see how I rate the fish..... So I ordered the Fish and Shrimp - and I'm not going to lie - 1) they were clearly fresh and not packaged processed bits. I'm down with Shrimp and these were amazing. Big, butterflied, tender and NOT rubbery and the batter was perfect consistency. Blind folded I may not have guessed immediately the fish was fish. 90% of the time cooked fish taste... well... fishy. This fish log was very light, flaky white fish that did not taste "fishy" and battered perfectly Several other reviews noted how clean it was... I wanted to challenge this but it is true. For a very small place that fries in oil all day you might expect sings of residue or grime. Nope - It was Very Very Clean. I have also wondered how a business like this can last for well probably longer than I've been alive which is a long time... in our time there there was a steady stream of seated customers and take out orders.... Probably people that would not normally say they do not like cooked fish.... The staff were super nice and gracious and helped with refills on drinks. Now I'm very curious on their Jalapeño and Zucchini appetizers that also look freshly house made. Thank you for the pleasant meal and making a cooked fish hater enjoy his meal of "cooked fish". Everything was great. Prices are also quite fair.

I had not expected…read moreto spend my birthday celebrating alone, just a few wishes and texts nothing over the top. I was more than half way to Livermore so I decided to try Louise's. Many of the best places are not fancy or expensive and I was not disappointed. This place is like the proverbial hole in the wall, but clean and tidy, spick and span kind of place. There is a decent size menu of items, combos of fish (cod), prawns, calamari, clams, oysters and chicken. They also have sides, extras, drinks including beer and wine. I got the #4, 2-pc fish and chips for $12.40. Their prices must have dropped than what is shown online. Sales tax in Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton is 10.25%. My order was cooked fresh. The fish is dipped in a cornstarch batter. After a few minutes, I heard the timer go off when it was done. A paper lined basket was brought to my table on a tray with malt vinegar, tartar sauce and catsup. It looked very good and golden brown. The taste test was awesome. light, crunchy and flakey fish, very yummy and no taste or smell of oil or any reside. It was perfect. The malt vinegar and tartar sauce not too tangy went very well with the fish. I ended up eating everything, nothing was left. The value is the 3-pc fish and fries, I think was just $15.50, but the 2-pc was just enough for me. Next time, I will try the calamari and fries. I dont think I need to head to SF, Fishermans Wharf, or Sausalito for good fish and chips. It's right here in Livermore, owned and operated by a husband and wife team. They are very friendly. Support local small business. This is one place I will enjoy going to, recommending and will bring friends next time. Thanks for reading.

Once inside, the vibe was very friendly, spacious, and welcoming. They also sell lobsters and other seafood on the side, and I've heard they have very good prices. We ordered the Naked Lobster Roll, a 1.5 lb lobster plate, corn chowder soup, and a Coke in a glass bottle. The "naked" lobster roll means it comes with minimal seasoning, letting the lobster flavor shine through. It was very clean and simple, but my husband didn't enjoy it as much as the lobster roll we had in Half Moon Bay. His favorite part of the meal was actually the house-made potato chips! The lobster plate was a fun experience -- cracking and eating the lobster ourselves made it enjoyable. Overall, we really liked this place. The service was quick and efficient; they brought the food to our table, and we could choose any seat we wanted. A cute little spot near the airport with a relaxed atmosphere. I'd definitely come back again.

We took advantage of the happy hour specials and ordered the oysters, fish taco, a whole lobster meal, and a few beers. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The oysters were cold and fresh with just the right amount of sauce and lemon. The fish taco was packed with flaky fish, fresh pico, and a delicious sauce that tied everything together. The lobster was sweet, tender, and paired perfectly with the buttery toast, creamy coleslaw, and crispy house chips. Every bite was delicious. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and has plenty of seating, so it never felt crowded. Another big plus is that there's a lot of street parking nearby, making it easy to stop in without having to hunt for a spot. If you're looking for fresh seafood, great happy hour deals, and a laid-back atmosphere, I definitely recommend checking out New England Lobster Market & Eatery. I'll definitely be back!

**Updated review** I…read morebooked my reservation through SF Restaurant Week's official website and was excited to finally try this place. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated right away, which was a great start. However, things took a turn when our server handed us the regular menu without mentioning the SF Restaurant Week menu. When I asked about it, the staff member I spoke to claimed they weren't notified that they were participating. How is that possible when the restaurant was listed on the official website and we booked our reservation through it? SF Restaurant Week is a well known event, and participating restaurants usually share their menus online. I even checked Yelp and found only one photo related, which made me suspect they were trying to avoid offering the prix-fixe menu to maximize profits. Their excuse? "They weren't notified in time to create a menu." That's frustrating and misleading, especially since the event details had been public for two weeks+ meaning they should have been aware well in advance. If they weren't prepared, they shouldn't have signed up. That aside, we decided to stay and order from the regular menu. Unfortunately, our food took a long time to arrive. We ended up filling up on bread and soup while waiting. To make things worse, two other tables - a small party and a larger group that arrived after us, received most of their food before we received one dish. Food Review: * Mixed Crudo - The halibut was the best part- succulent, slightly sweet, and of course, there were only four pieces. The scallops, on the other hand, were overpowered by coarse salt, making them way too salty. The salmon was pretty standard. * Dungeness Crab Linguine - Decent, but not memorable. There wasn't much crab or sauce, so I probably wouldn't order it again. * Crab Chowder - Delicious, but the portion was misleading. The bowl was super shallow, making it look like there was more than there actually was--probably the same amount as a cup. * Branzino - Fantastic! The skin was perfectly crispy, and the side of broccolini was a great touch.

This hidden food truck is serving up some of the best Fish & Chips in San Francisco!!…read more The awesome part is that they have their own little area, offering up some tables for dining giving it a nice chill vibe. You order up at the window, or they also have a kiosk if they're very busy where you can place your order. First round, I went with the fish and chips. It took about 15 minutes to be ready which was not bad at all (It's made to order as it should be) and took a seat to enjoy. First off, that fish comes out piping hot!! It's also quite a large portion of fish which is much appreciated. Now flavor wise, the cod is absolutely delicious. Perfectly fried and flaky! It comes with tartar sauce which goes so well with the fish! Well it was so good the first time, we went back the next day and got more of the fried cod and also got some of the fried calamari. And WOAH.... Okay, that calamari was amazing!! First off, the batter itself is so well seasoned! If that's not enough, it's served with their homemade chipotle sauce which is so so good. It has a little spicy tangy flavor that goes so well with the calamari! It quickly became one of my favorites.
