The best thing I can say about this place is that the building is absolutely beautiful. It's large, there's tons of seating, I'm also assuming there are outlets to go with that seating so you could work in there if you wanted. It's connected to other businesses. Although they care far more about their drive-through than those other businesses because definitely one of them has an external door that you would have to cross the drive-through to get to, which is just rude. But that's honestly where all the stars end. The coffee is mediocre. The menu is mediocre. You can get whatever you get everywhere else here and it will taste fine. There's zero originality in their menu. Where it truly goes downhill is their employees. How are you going to be two blocks from downtown Midland and not have any awareness of the area and be able to direct an out-of-towner to a nice place to walk? Perhaps I have high hopes for the intellectual capabilities of barista's in a medium sized town's coffee shop, but these employees are sure to disappoint you if you want to do anything other than order coffee and get your order. Whatever you do, don't expect any level of conversation. They absolutely cannot deliver. On top of that, their motto appears to be "love people," but that only extends so far as I guess their customers. They love people except for when they employ those people. When they employ those people, they love to micromanage them and force them to have an outdated dress code of black shirts. What are they some sort of indentured servant? Go somewhere else. All you can find in this coffee shop is boring. read more

Manifesting the Perfect Latte (And It Worked) Before I even stepped foot into Live Oak Coffeehouse, I closed my eyes and set my intention. I envisioned the perfect coconut almond milk latte--smooth, rich, subtly sweet, and crafted with care. I felt the warmth of the cup in my hands, the aroma wrapping around me like a cozy hug from the universe itself. I whispered to the cosmos: "Let this latte be everything I desire and more." And guess what? The universe delivered. I entered Live Oak with gratitude in my heart, and the barista--clearly an enlightened being--crafted my drink with the energy of a thousand good vibrations. The first sip? Pure alignment. The flavors danced in harmony, the temperature was just right, and for a moment, I felt like I had truly ascended. The ambiance of this place? Calm, inviting, full of positive frequencies. People chatted, read, worked, all in a state of peaceful flow. You could feel the creativity and good energy buzzing in the air. Some say you can't manifest happiness in a cup, but I'm here to tell you--you absolutely can. If you're ever in Midland, set your intention, walk into Live Oak, and let the magic happen. read more

Good coffee, friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere to chat with friends or even do some work. We were visiting Midland for a niece's graduation. We visited Live Oak Twice during our stay. They have a large selection of coffees that they roast themselves. Unlike a major chain, their coffee doesn't taste like burnt beans. The coffee had a nice flavor, with a strong finish that isn't bitter. Their syrups are also made in house. For the ones we tried, they were delicious. Not sugary sweet, so you can actually decern the various flavors. There was a board with the staff's choices, one being a Cinnamon and Brown Sugar, my partner enjoyed it and it was fantastic when she let me try it. I had both the Caramel Latte and Macchiato. I was pleased with both. Even though we didn't get any, they had a good selection of Gluten Free options. The food is also made in house, meaning that they make these gluten free options on their own. Unlike many other chains and local shops that don't have any Gluten Free options, even if they are resold versions of major brands. That shows a care for those in the community that either for medical reasons or by choice eat Gluten Free. The environment in the shop is warm and inviting. Whether you are having a conversation with friends, reading a book, or trying to work on your laptop you'll find an area for you. The staff was friendlier than what I expect from a coffee shop. Usually they will great you, but they're more about getting your order and moving on to the next customer. The staff here would answer questions and where informative. Surprisingly, many of them were knowledgeable not only about the coffee, but the business itself. Do not sleep on Live Oak Coffee. You'll regret it. read more

I recently visited their new Live Oak East location, off of Eastlawn. As the former Grove Tea Lounge, Live Oak has made this location into a very hospitable place! The staff is great the coffee, even better! Nice, comfortable sitting areas and a great playground for kids outside! I especially liked the muffins! read more

Boring. They buy out a great little place called Grove tea and turn it into a boring and bland coffee shop. They ask what they should keep and haven't done anything to keep it the same. We miss our actual good food from Grove as well as our tea options and boba. There are plenty of boring coffee places around. It's sad what has happened to the old Grove Tea Lounge. read more

The crustless quiche! 10/10. Great cappuccino, friendly service... Best the best part? This place is clearly a community nexus with a playful, creative interior that weaves positivity/mindful living for an uplifting ambience. Best coffeeshop in town AND best concept Ive experienced in YEARS. Highly recommend taking the extra time to come in and wander the full space...just lovely! read more

Live Oak Coffeehouse - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Midland, Michigan

We had an amazing experience both times we came in during our visit, this tells me they are consistent! We came in with family and asked a lot of questions, and they were super patient with us and the woman helping us explained everything! We asked about food and drinks and they were patient and kind the entire time. Our coffees were awesome, definitely handcrafted with love. My oat milk latte was creamy and hot and went so well with the muffin. It was just perfect. I also enjoyed a no nonsense bar. If you like oats and peanut butter, this is for you. So good. Great to go food, and they also make It in house. The kitchen is open so you can see everything being made. I love that feature in any eatery. There's a lot of places to sit here, upstairs seems quieter with small tables, and downstairs there is a variety of high tops and lot tables and a lounge area with soft chairs. There's books and games so being kids or being a book. It's a great place to hang out. They also sell their beans and a variety of fun merchandise. There's ample parking and even a drive thru. I wish I lived closer, I would want to work here I lived It so much! The staff was super kind. I'll be back when I'm in town again visiting family! Thank you!! read more

My absolute go-to for coffee. The staff is fantastic and suggestive. The lattes are balanced. Each season they have a menu of staff created drinks. The atmosphere is very comfortable with lots of places to sit. Great merch selection, and the staff is very willing to help you if needed. They also have tons of coffee related items for sale. read more

First time there. Not familiar with it at all. Had previously goggled it to see if gluten free options. Approached counter & waited for someone to address us. Asked about restaurant & they said they were not a restaurant. No explaination given as howcwe should order etc. Very dissapointed we (4 of us) walked out. Came back in to try again after we noticed menu on outside of building . Ordered & found a place to sit until we were called to pick up order. Cute place but poor customer service read more

Great coffee! The drip brew is very cheap and the ambience is relaxed. The couches and upholstered chairs are ideal for hanging out all morning as I did. Staff were prompt with filling my order. read more

Unfortunately the final update...I must have just been charged incorrectly because now that large iced mocha is $10. I cannot fathom charging or paying for that. This is the first time I've seen a price that high in my life. read more

Incredible vibe and comforting feeling. Live Oak knocks it out of the park with the environment! Great house drip (Sunset and Midtown this trip) with plenty of other options. Enjoyed the lemon poppy muffin one of the mornings as well. I come through the area about 3-4 times a year and this will definitely be a staple stop! read more

When heading to live oak today I had never been so I had fairly high expectations based on reviews and what I had heard. Upon ordering though I was highly disappointed I had ordered the hot chocolate along with the new donuts with a chocolate glaze. The donuts themselves were hard to the touch and tasted like they had been a couple of days old. The hot chocolate I had ordered tasted like nothing it was so beyond bland. What I did enjoy although was the service and atmosphere. Those working the counter were very polite and the building itself was beautiful. read more

A great atmosphere cozy venue . Kombucha on tap. Iced coffee and cappuccino wow! Their coffee is good. It is a little more money than I'm used to paying but I've paid more money for stuff that isn't half as good. Delicious. read more

My grandpa and I were heading home from a track meet and stopped by shortly before close (which can be frustrating for workers I understand!) and they were very kind. This coffeehouse made we want to 1. Move in all my things and live here forever, 2. Open a coffeehouse just like this back home in Florida, and 3. Drink everything on their menu. Wow! I am truly obsessed with this coffeehouse. My friend and I stopped in one morning and met Nate. He is so awesome! What a nice guy. We came back the next morning to have our coffee. Sadly Nate wasn't there but we were greeted by another awesome individual. The coffees are delicious and the vibe is so perfect. We started off our days on such a great high with so much positive energy! Thank you! read more

Perfect coffeehouse! Beautiful and relaxing decor with tons of space, well-curated selection of gifts (including their in-house roasted coffee), plenty of gluten free food options, and drinks with an emphasis on seasonal/local. Would basically live here if I could. read more

What a cool, cozy, and chic atmosphere! Came here to catch up with a long-time friend while I was in town, and was instantly impressed with the entire place. I ordered an almond-milk latte and my guest ordered a matcha-latte. I was very pleased with my almond-milk latte! It's important to note they have many other non-dairy options (almond, oak, soy, coconut). Additionally, they only have two sizes, small and large. There are small cups available at the counter for water. The ambiance was very artsy and chic. Jazz music was playing, people were writing poetry, and there were impressionist art books that surrounded all over tables. Baristas were REALLY nice and bathrooms were clean. TLDR; check this place out due it's amazing latte options, kind staff, and overall lovely presence. read more

Live Oak Coffeehouse - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Midland, Michigan

I was in town for a doctor's appointment and desperately needed some caffeine. After seeing the positive reviews on Yelp, I decided to stop by. They are conveniently located downtown with a small parking lot nearby. I was feeling a bit indecisive, so the barista kindly helped me through the menu. All of the syrups are house made. After some backs and forth, I ordered cold brew with pumpkin spice and vanilla syrup. The coffee was incredibly smooth with the syrups adding just the right amount of sweetness. The staff are also incredibly kind and welcoming. I would definitely come back here again! read more

Two days in a row I attempted to use Live Oak for a large breakfast gathering. Day one the food was cold, and not ready at the scheduled time. We contacted them and they prepared the food again fresh and brought it to us. When it arrived the food was great. We were so impressed with the taste we ordered for the following day. When I arrived they had not started the order at the scheduled time, and the worked attempted to place the blame on us. She stated it needed to be ordered online, which it had been. Unfortunately the professionalism and service being so poor overshadowed the quality of the food. read more

First time being in Midland and I am so glad I chose this coffee shop as my first stop! Workers are super sweet. They greeted me with a smile and conversation, and wrote me a kind message on my cup! Live Oak is a new coffee shop in Midland that has a great aesthetic and friendly service. It's a nice place to meet a friend, do some work (free wifi and lots of outlets), or just relax. I've been a number of times now and while I tend to love pourover coffee, I have learned to go with an espresso-based drink here because the pourovers have consistently left me underwhelmed. They've been harsh, watery, bitter, or just unsatisfying. I think it's mostly the beans that I am not a fan of (I wish they used Narrativality, not Heirloom). If you want a solid pourover, do it at home or visit The Loch. Despite my qualm with the pourovers, I will continue to visit and enjoy other drinks. Live Oak also has a drive-thru that makes getting a decent beverage and snack on the run convenient. I also really like how they have had a number of food trucks on the property and are active on social media to let you know about upcoming events. read more

Impeccable environment. One worthy of the title "Pinterest perfect." There are many seating options, including a few nooks to sit back and enjoy a book away from the action of this lively coffee shop. On a recent trip to the Midland area, I visited this gem of a coffee shop. First of all, the ambiance is amazing. If I lived in the area, I would be stopping by frequently to grab a cup of coffee and spend an hour reading. The coffee tastes great (I'm typically an Americano gal) and their food menu is creative (love the homemade granola bars). My husband thoroughly enjoys their cold brew and their Ethiopian blend pour over. SUPPORT LOCAL! read more

Stopped in after a disappointing dining experience and was greeted with a friendly hello. The staff was helpful as we made our decisions for coffee. The service was quick and when one coffee was made incorrectly ( regular instead of decaf) they quickly made another. After sitting outside for a bit a staff member came out with a plate of just from the oven chocolate chip cookies for us! Those were delicious as were all our coffees. The inside looked very comfy for either quiet reading time or hanging out with friends. I look forward to many more coffee dates here read more

Decided to check this place out today. While donning an incredible modern and urban design, Live Oak seems to really separate itself from any other coffee shop in the tri-city area not just because they have quality drinks, but more importantly because of a streamlined approach. Their drinks are incredible for coffee snobs and newbies alike, with no pretentiousness attached. Can't say that for many shops, specifically in Bay City. With efficient staff making high-quality drinks, paired with a local Midland coffee roaster, you can't go wrong! Sounds basic but I'd recommend a regular latte. It kicked ass. Will be back for sure. read more
