Good coffee, friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere to chat with friends or even do some work. We were visiting Midland for a niece's graduation. We visited Live Oak Twice during our stay. They have a large selection of coffees that they roast themselves. Unlike a major chain, their coffee doesn't taste like burnt beans. The coffee had a nice flavor, with a strong finish that isn't bitter. Their syrups are also made in house. For the ones we tried, they were delicious. Not sugary sweet, so you can actually decern the various flavors. There was a board with the staff's choices, one being a Cinnamon and Brown Sugar, my partner enjoyed it and it was fantastic when she let me try it. I had both the Caramel Latte and Macchiato. I was pleased with both. Even though we didn't get any, they had a good selection of Gluten Free options. The food is also made in house, meaning that they make these gluten free options on their own. Unlike many other chains and local shops that don't have any Gluten Free options, even if they are resold versions of major brands. That shows a care for those in the community that either for medical reasons or by choice eat Gluten Free. The environment in the shop is warm and inviting. Whether you are having a conversation with friends, reading a book, or trying to work on your laptop you'll find an area for you. The staff was friendlier than what I expect from a coffee shop. Usually they will great you, but they're more about getting your order and moving on to the next customer. The staff here would answer questions and where informative. Surprisingly, many of them were knowledgeable not only about the coffee, but the business itself. Do not sleep on Live Oak Coffee. You'll regret it.

The crustless quiche! 10/10. Great cappuccino, friendly service... Best the best part? This place is clearly a community nexus with a playful, creative interior that weaves positivity/mindful living for an uplifting ambience. Best coffeeshop in town AND best concept Ive experienced in YEARS. Highly recommend taking the extra time to come in and wander the full space...just lovely!

Amazing scones and a no nonsense bar.

We had an amazing experience both times we came in during our visit, this tells me they are consistent! We came in with family and asked a lot of questions, and they were super patient with us and the woman helping us explained everything! We asked about food and drinks and they were patient and kind the entire time. Our coffees were awesome, definitely handcrafted with love. My oat milk latte was creamy and hot and went so well with the muffin. It was just perfect. I also enjoyed a no nonsense bar. If you like oats and peanut butter, this is for you. So good. Great to go food, and they also make It in house. The kitchen is open so you can see everything being made. I love that feature in any eatery. There's a lot of places to sit here, upstairs seems quieter with small tables, and downstairs there is a variety of high tops and lot tables and a lounge area with soft chairs. There's books and games so being kids or being a book. It's a great place to hang out. They also sell their beans and a variety of fun merchandise. There's ample parking and even a drive thru. I wish I lived closer, I would want to work here I lived It so much! The staff was super kind. I'll be back when I'm in town again visiting family! Thank you!!

A great atmosphere cozy venue . Kombucha on tap. Iced coffee and cappuccino wow! Their coffee is good. It is a little more money than I'm used to paying but I've paid more money for stuff that isn't half as good. Delicious.

This coffeehouse made we want to 1. Move in all my things and live here forever, 2. Open a coffeehouse just like this back home in Florida, and 3. Drink everything on their menu. Wow! I am truly obsessed with this coffeehouse. My friend and I stopped in one morning and met Nate. He is so awesome! What a nice guy. We came back the next morning to have our coffee. Sadly Nate wasn't there but we were greeted by another awesome individual. The coffees are delicious and the vibe is so perfect. We started off our days on such a great high with so much positive energy! Thank you!

    Ambiance

What a cool, cozy, and chic atmosphere! Came here to catch up with a long-time friend while I was in town, and was instantly impressed with the entire place. I ordered an almond-milk latte and my guest ordered a matcha-latte. I was very pleased with my almond-milk latte! It's important to note they have many other non-dairy options (almond, oak, soy, coconut). Additionally, they only have two sizes, small and large. There are small cups available at the counter for water. The ambiance was very artsy and chic. Jazz music was playing, people were writing poetry, and there were impressionist art books that surrounded all over tables. Baristas were REALLY nice and bathrooms were clean. TLDR; check this place out due it's amazing latte options, kind staff, and overall lovely presence.

But it's really hard…read moreto tell if they have anything interesting or any type of specialties because they have the dumbest baristas I may have ever met. I'm gonna say the baristas are worse than a Biggby's barista. I went into this coffee shop after a 3 mile walk on the rail trail and I asked for something refreshing that wasn't very sugary. When I tell you this motherfucker gave me a fucking iced fucking latte... What the actual fuck!? Coffee is not only not refreshing, it's a diuretic. I would expect someone who is old enough to be working outside of school hours to know that. There's literally a ton of other stuff on their menu that isn't fucking coffee. But this guy wanted to give me an iced latte. It tasted like dirt. Iced lattes are for basic bitches who think that pumpkin spiced anything is the height of flavor. I was chatting up the stoner looking employees (?) sitting in the middle of the café with nothing to do, and every word that fell out of their mouths was dumber than the last. If "Espresso Milano" is meant to harken back to some fancy place in Italy, the reality is quite the opposite. However, their merchandise does have cats on it, and that's really cool. You might be able to find something good on this menu, just don't ask the barista to help you find it. They are not equal to the task.

We were visiting downtown Midland and the Tridge when we came upon Iron Dame. A…read moreFrench-European-style bakery in a small city? Not something that you see too often so we decided to stop by to take a look. It was within an hour of them closing and unfortunately many of the pastries were already sold out. Still, they had a couple of croissants that looked absolutely delicious and we couldn't resist picking some up. In addition to pastries, they also sell coffee and, interestingly enough, milk tea and boba (popping type only I think). I can easily imagine sitting outside, sipping on a drink and nibbling on a pastry. Raspberry Vol au Vent ($5) - Woah, just look at those layers on this pastry. So well defined with crisp, buttery puff pastry layers that are easy to pull apart. This one is filled with a raspberry jam and adorned with a single fresh raspberry in the center. They don't skimp on the jam here - it's absolutely loaded up. The jam is tangy, sweet, and delicious. It's filled with fresh and crunchy raspberry seeds and a brightness that is welcome. (5/5) Bacon & Havarti Croissant ($6) - Other places might put a single thin slice of bacon and cheese inside - Iron Dame fills it chock full with meat and cheese. Salty, savory, umami, everything you could want from a savory croissant. Since there's so much filling, it compresses the croissant dough along the edges making it chewier and more bready, yet still retaining a bit of flakiness. (5/5) Pain Au Chocolat ($5) - The lamination on this pastry isn't nearly as good - the layers are on the thicker side with smaller air bubbles. Definitely more bready than flaky. I'm not sure what happened to this pastry - the pictures on their website shows very well defined layers but this one was anything but. Two batons of chocolate are inserted inside, giving sweetness and richness. I wasn't able to eat this until the following day - since I couldn't eat it fresh, I won't include it in my overall rating. This particular pastry is something around a 3/5 though. It looks like they don't have a set menu (at least not what I can see from their website), so I would definitely drop by with an open mind to see what they are offering that day! I would come here again if I lived in Midland or if I was in the area. Yum! Bathrooms - Single unisex room. Overall rating of the food this visit: 5/5
