After years of searching for the right DBT therapist for my daughter, we finally found DBT Arizona…read more Right away I knew something was different when I spoke to Elizabeth about finding someone to help my daughter. They were actually available and could help! That may sound still to anyone who hasn't had years of difficulty trying to get your child someone in a specialized field of therapy with little to no success. It's VERY HARD and we have struggled. So after leaving a voicemail (only one) when I first called and Elizabeth actually called me back in just a few minutes surprised me greatly. Then to speak to someone who knew what you and your family have been through for years without judgement or shock, I was grateful. But when Elizabeth set up an appointment for my daughter with a doctor experienced with her issues, I almost wept. We were able to get my daughter seen with Dr. Aronda just a few weeks. I knew she was special. I knew this one could really help my daughter. And my daughter knew it too. Dr. Aronda has been a godsend for our family! She just knows what to do and say. She has a very soft, reassuring way about her that my daughter has responded to very positively. She comes out so happy and bouncy after every appointment she has with her. But even after all of this, what shocked me the most was SEEING MY DAUGHTER PUT TO USE THE METHODS SHE AND DR. ARONDA HAVE BEEN WORKING ON during their session times. I almost fell over! My daughter has never done that before! This is actually working! My daughter is so much lighter and happier. She feels heard. She feels validated. She feels understood. She knows everyone she has spoken to at DBT Arizona cares about her. The only thing she has ever complained about was group therapy, but to know my daughter is know expect that kind of thing. I will shout praises from the mountain tops, and I have, about DBT Arizona. The ONLY thing that is difficult for us is the cost. They don't do insurance and they are considered out-of-network. Luckily, my insurance covers reimbursement for cases like this; not fully covered, but enough to help greatly. I look at the cost as an investment in my daughter because it is. And it's working. IT'S ACTUALLY WORKING. So if you're reading this and you have struggled like I have to find someone who can actually help your child, this is the place. They know what you're going through. They know how to help you. They know how to help your child. And it works.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Jane. My daughter has been in counseling for about 3 years…read morenow and we never saw any results until we started seeing Jane. Jane doesn't just help our daughter, she has given me countless tools as well. I finally feel like I'm actually equipped to be a parent for the first time in 10 years. I also picked up her book Raising Humane Beings and I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in 2 days and had so many "ah-ha" moments. The way I parent has basically done a complete 180 since meeting Jane and our family feels so much more calm and connected now. Jane was born to do this work. I've even decided to start going to her myself for non-parenting counseling as well. If you want actual results from counseling, look no further. Jane is the real deal. Edit: After reading through some of the other reviews I feel the need to add that some of the tools Jane offers may not be considered "conventional"... and that's a GOOD THING. That's why her tools actually work. Don't expect the same old song and dance you're going to get from any counselor you go to. If you go into therapy with an open mind and a willingness to do the work, you will see results immediately. An example for me was her "talking stick" exercise. I thought to myself "there's no freaking way out family is going to sit down and do talking stick"... and after Jane had my daughter and I practice it in a session, it's our new favorite thing! It instantly made me feel so much more connected to my daughter and helped her feel heard and validated. But again, having an open mind and being willing to try something different is key. You have to actually want your situation to change, otherwise no counselor or amount of therapy will work. Seems like the only negative reviews were from people that either never actually had a session with her, or went in and didn't try the tools she recommended, which says less about Jane and more about the reviewer IMO.

If you are looking for a counselor who is highly skilled in trauma work and who truly respects the courage it takes to heal, I would strongly recommend Christy! Her use of EMDR and Family Systems therapy made a meaningful difference in my recovery, and I am deeply grateful for the progress I have been able to make with her support.

Kate is a mind healer!!…read more I went to Kate at a time when I was struggling with grief from the past and had anxiety thinking about the future. She navigated me through my problems by showing me a new perspective that I would have never thought about. She made me realize the power of mindfulness and how to see opportunities even in the darkest times of our lives. She gave me homework exercises for the mind that really worked well for me. Unlike most business, she is actually there when we need her even after the sessions and that made me understand how genuinely she cares about her clients. I am still in touch with her and she still helps me through some difficult situations. I highly recommend Kate.

This was my first time going to see any type of therapist, wanted to give this a try to help with…read moresome anxiety I have experienced over the past year. I went for a total of 3 sessions, had no true expectations but open-minded going in. In the 1st session, I would say 80-85% of the time Kate was doing the talking. Not saying it was not important info or intentional, but thought the client would have done most talking. I left feeling the 1st session, not the most optimistic but still open-minded to continue. 2nd session was a lot better as I got the chance to really talk and open up more, letting out some emotional baggage which I believe is what I was truly looking for. After each session, she emailed me an MP3 to listen for better quality sleep. Honestly, it worked so I was ok with that result. In the last session, I remember we were talking about something and I had I asked for more clarity on what she meant and to me was a snarky/annoyed attitude that she came back with. I noticed this snarky attitude several times from the first time we spoke. Never in a disrespectful way, but enough to me where it was very surprising and not reassuring at all coming from a professional therapist/counselor. Some final thoughts- I was never hypnotized, she gave me the option but felt persuaded to listen to the mp3 only. I was ok with that and would say that worked so overall no issue here. I have not received one call/email asking about how I have been. Our last session was in Feb/March 2020. Just a bit surprising because during the final session she stated that she wanted to continue to work together & she would call before and after upcoming sessions. No word yet. Again don't think this was the best fit for myself, I do not regret going was a very good learning/growth experience. But this is my honest review.

Janet Callahan is one of the best in her field, I've been seeing her for more than a decade and…read moredon't know what I will do when she retires. Janet is not a counselor, she's not there to talk about your feelings or give you "homework" to make you feel better. She's there to manage your medication and ensure that it is working as it should. She's not a teddy bear, but she is friendly and professional and intelligent about what she does; I'll take that any day. I've found that Janet is not typically late and she expects you to be on time as well. If you are late, she reduces your appointment time so she's not late for the next patient. This is how it should be in my opinion, as I don't want my schedule mucked up because you couldn't be on time. If you're looking for someone who is simply amazing at what she does and who gets results, I highly recommend Janet Callahan.

I would never suggest anyone going here after my experience this morning with Dr.Drake. I have a…read moredegree in social work and have been a little apprehensive starting therapy because I worry it would just be things I have already told myself or came to the realization of in past classes and in my line of work. In the end, while very emotional, I asked for some concrete details on future sessions and how it would be effective. This apparently offended her as she stood up and told me I could have her refer me to someone else and walked out. She didn't even give me a second to collect myself, shake my hand, or look me in the eye as she very quickly said bye. I was then forced to be in front of a group of strangers still crying while I paid my co pay. I was embarrassed and felt that someone who has been in this industry as long as Dr.Drake should understand why people want to know their treatment is going to be effective as it can be expensive and takes time out of their day. I left feeling guilty and hurt which is not how an individual should leave a therapy session. Dr. Drake if you don't enjoy your work do not push that onto clients/patients.

I want to share my experience as a caution to others considering working with hypnotherapist/life…read morecoach Melinda Vail for marriage counseling. I sought her help in good faith, hoping to improve communication within my marriage. At the time, I was navigating a demanding career transition, which limited my availability for sessions. Meanwhile, my husband was able to attend more frequently and began meeting with her individually. Over time, I felt that this imbalance significantly affected the dynamic. Melinda appeared to view my husband as "more invested," and the process became increasingly one-sided. The situation escalated when she included both of us in a group text and openly criticized me, labeling me as the primary issue in our relationship. This felt unprofessional and deeply inappropriate for someone in a counseling role. The aftermath of this experience was damaging. It reinforced a harmful dynamic in my marriage, ultimately contributing to our separation. One of my biggest takeaways is the importance of working with a licensed therapist for marriage counseling. Licensed professionals are held to ethical standards and oversight, which helps protect clients in vulnerable situations. In contrast, life coaches and hypnotherapists are not bound by the same regulatory boards. I share this not out of spite, but in the hope that others will carefully consider their choice of support and seek qualified, licensed professionals when dealing with something as important as their relationship.
