After first having Orkin come to my house and realizing that the guys who showed up had no intention of treating the individual carpenter bee holes (as I'd been told over the phone they WOULD do) I sent Orcan't on their way and was still left with my army of carpenter bees, literally chasing me out of my yard and eating me out of house and home. My neighbor related her dad had a log house and he had somebody who had gotten rid of carpenter bees there, that's how I got Curt Littlewood's name.
I called him and was a little discouraged at first, his message said he was pretty much dealing with his regulars, restaurants and such. Still left my name and told him the situation and that the neighbors had recommended him that he'd done their dad's place on Tully Road. He phoned me back a short time later, and said he'd be over the following day to check the situation and that he'd bring all the stuff to get rid of the bees.
Orkin had said the bees were behind the fascia boards and that they wouldn't be able to reach the nests, all they could do was just apply a surface spray. Littlewood related that wouldn't get rid of them, just as I'd read. He got here as scheduled, and right away related that he could see exactly where each of those nests were, because he knew what the droppings looked like, and that while it was true you couldn't see the openings, he said it was untrue that you couldn't get to them, that they were just on the backside of the board, not up in behind it out of reach, as the Orkin guy had said.
He took his ladder and walked under the boards pointing up and saying "there's one right up here" Sure enough, he went up there and shot powder right into the hole they tunneled and soon I could see the powder coming out of crevices further up the board. In a few seconds, it was amazing to see those huge bees emerging from the boards dusted in that powder, they looked like white bee ghosts-- ready to accept their eviction notice, and dropping like flies soon after. There were hundreds of them, in about fifteen spots. He pointed out that the backside of the fascia boards weren't painted and that was why they had settled in.
While here he noticed that I also had carpenter ants and showed me where they were and how they were just crawling right into the house, he said actually those were doing even more damage to my wood than the carpenter bees had done. He treated their trails and the foundation, at no added charge and he already was significantly under the Or-cant price.
Needless to say, I would heartily suggest you save yourself time, aggravation and money and just call Curt Littlewood in the first place!
He will get the job done, show up when he says he will, not a day late like Orkin did, and most importantly he will do what needs to be done to eradicate your home of the unwanted visitors, even if that means going up a ladder to get to them. You cannot just spray surfaces and get rid of carpenter bees like Orkin was planning to do. If you want a good person for your exterminating work, call this guy. 978-544-2400 and leave your name and number, just say Cindy with the carpenter bees recommended him, he likes to get business through referrals from other customers. Never met Curt, until yesterday and I see he has no online reviews, so that's why I'm here returning a favor, because believe me it is no fun living with carpenter bees hovering around you all Summer and after the horrible experience with Orkin, I just hope to see someone who deserves business get more of it! read more
