Jesus. Can't believe I'm the first to review this place. It's a wee ripper. Back story: I am from Christchurch and so I was blessed with an upbringing so stacked with absurdly delicious souvlakis. When I moved to Auckland, I discovered that they don't really have souvlakis up here. They just have kebabs, which for the most part are utterly macabre. I was pretty bummed. Then I got taken to the Little Turkish Cafe. Oh yes. They make good kebab thing. It's all in the bread. God they have great bread! Their kebabs are sensational. Other great aspects of the Little Turkish experience: 1. How surly the (assumedly) Turkish guy who seems to be in charge is. Such an angry dude. 2. The music videos they play (K.D. LANG BABY). 3. The chippies are pretty great. Loses a point because they only sell coke zero in glass bottles (cans are the way) and also I think shisha is the dumbest shit of all time.

If you have ever seen someone who is unconscious but still managing to eat a kebab, it probably was here. When did Kebabs become the ubiquitous drunk food? Whatever happened to pies? I guess they have the semblance of being healthier, but most of the salad ends up spilled all over the table anyway. Little Turkish has been a staple of K Road for a wee while - it's where 15 year olds go to smoke shisha, who then start smoking cigarettes and having illicit drinks, untill they too are the ones who end up slumped on a table shovelling what used to be a lamb in their mouth. Little Turkish also offer a selection of other foods - the classic hot chips, mini pizzas, turkish sweets. Worth a munch regardless of the time of night - it could even make a good pre-drink dinner.

I honestly can't think of a time I've been at Little Turkish Cafe before midnight, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Little Turks is the kind of place you head after Whammy shows have finished for the night and you're considering getting a very expensive and kind of dodgy taxi ride home. The little pizza breads are really delicious - I recommend the spinach and feta. The chips are really generously seasoned and generally snapped up really really quickly. With the healing powers of fat and salt, they're the perfect antidote to a night of hard partying.

This is a really solid cafe. I ordered the Casa pizza which was a great size for just me (could perhaps share if you weren't super hungry). This place seems much cleaner and better run than the majority of kebab shops you see too.

Mixed platter - a bit of everything!

We stopped here for an early dinner last night and had a great meal. My husband had a vegetarian pizza, which he said was delicious. There were lots of OTHER vegetarian options as well. I got the mixed platter, which had a bit of everything, and it was excellent. We also had a few beers. Service was fast, food was fresh, and prices were reasonable - 42 NZD total, about 28 USD.

This was my order. As you can see... oh wait, you can't see. Falafel wrap.

I'm almost positive I came here before AND after a show at Rising Sun. Is it bad that I don't remember? Haha. BF got a lovely apartment hotel at Waldorf St. Martins when I went to visit last year. Passed by and had a quick bite before going to Ritual/36 Deep gig. Very good falafel wrap. For some reason, I also think I had Sal's pizza. Is there one nearby? Haha. I'm convinced this place is good because even if I am inebriated, I know what shitty food tastes like. I have this little devil inside me saying, "this food is shit, you're just drunk" each time I eat and I am "not myself". LOL.

    Falafel salad! Awesome.

I have been coming here for years and it is still good. Was trying to decide where to get vegetarian food and decided a falafel in this place would be more fun than a salad at the nearby Tank. Verona had stopped serving lunch at 3 pm. So Little Turkish Cafe was the winner. We didn't regret our choice. Fun atmosphere.

Nice little neighborhood place. Very tasty kebabs in a welcoming setting. Excellent "eat safe" rating in a funky, interesting neighborhood.

It was a fantastic lunch, thanks to the lovely food, cocktails, ambience and service. Bodrum Market is run by one of my favourite hospitality companies - Nazar Group. Founded by Alex Isik and Nigar Ivgen, they own restaurants all over Auckland, including Feriza's, Miss Istanbul, Ottoman Mezze Lounge, NOA Chargrill + Burger, Devon on the Wharf, Mozaik Caffe, Deco Eatery, Casablanca and Bodrum Kitchen. All of their restaurants bring a slice of the Mediterranean to the table - featuring Turkish, Greek, Moroccan and Middle Eastern dishes... so we were really excited to check it out! Walking in, we absolutely loved the interior of Bodrum Market, which is inspired by Istanbul's Grand Bazaar and the streets of Bodrum City. While I have not yet been to Istanbul (it is on the list!), I immediately felt transported to an exotic city! We were seated in one of their booths, which overlooks the dining area and bar. If you dine at Bodrum Market, you must order a cocktail! We tried three which were all refreshing and delicious. My top picks are the Bombay Masala Talkies - Gin infused with masala tea, butterfly pea flower syrup, lemon juice and Mediterranean tonic water; the Sultan Treat with Russian vodka, rose petal water, fresh pomegranate, lime juice and pomegranate molasses; and the Aam Pana Cooler with Tequila, orange liqueur, raw mango puree, roasted cumin powder, lemon juice and lemonade. (Seriously, typing this now makes my mouth water!!!) And now for the most important part, the food! Bodrum Market is offering diners an authentic experience by serving four different cuisines - Indian, Italian, Turkish and Latin American Asado, just like the traditional food markets of the Mediterranean. Their aim is to showcase unique flavours from each of their teams' homelands. We were lucky enough to get a sneak peak through their kitchen and admired their Wood-Fired Pizza Oven, Asado Grill and Doner Kebab machine. There are many options on the menu to suit a range of palates, and I recommend sharing if possible so you can try a few dishes. We trusted the team to bring us a few of their favourites from each of the four cuisines to try, including Olives and Feta with almonds and dates, Chicken Lollipops with chili sauce, Grilled Octopus with new potatoes, paprika butter, garlic aioli and parsley, Beef Short Ribs with Chimichurri sauce and Prosciutto Pizza with fresh rocket, cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and Parmesan. We loved that everything was super fresh, flavourful and tasty, plus every dish was full of colour. Our favourites were the Beef Short Rib - lathered in a beautiful Chimichurri sauce and the meat was melting off the bone! The Chicken Lollipops were also a highlight, and we surprisingly enjoyed the Grilled Octopus... must admit those tentacles freaked us out a bit! For dessert, we tried their Loukoumades - light and fluffy Greek honey puffs, drizzled in chocolate sauce and served with pink fairy floss, ice cream and pistachios. You will definitely want to save room for this dessert! For a further sweet treat, head outside to the entrance of Bodrum Market to admire the displays of Baklava, Chocolate Baklava and Turkish Delight - definitely recommend buying a few pieces for the ride home. Thank you Bodrum Market for a FAB dining experience - we cannot wait to come back! x

I ordered the calamari because I felt that's a pretty safe item and it can be compared across restaurants. It arrived and I was slightly surprised as it was spiced and lightly sauced, not tempura-ed or breaded or fried. Once I got over that, the taste was good; granted that this was most likely a sharable dish, I'd recommend getting something else to pair with it because eating the entire thing by yourself is not the way to go. Especially when everyone else is enjoying baby churros with shot glasses of melted chocolate. Also, make sure to make your order well known. A lady at our table ordered the same drink three times and hadn't received it until we were about to go. The manager came over and served her personally, explaining that they had some new staff and apologized for the confusion. By this point, she was already over not receiving the drink, but once she sipped it, she was wishing she had received it a lot earlier.

We decided to try this lovely place, i don't think this place has been here long but it seems really busy in terms of takeout. I guess everyone loves a good kebab !! But let's talk about the food, which is what we're here for !! Two things we got, the chicken shish (large) and a little share platter (chicken and beef)- I'm horrible with name so you're going to have to go by my description and photo ! Lols So firstly the chicken shish, the large platter comes with the chicken, rice, hummus, yoghurt with an olive on top. Flavor I will have to say 3/5 it was nice but I felt that it was lacking that kick or punch. Whilst I don't know how real Turkish food taste... I feel like they like their flavors so I feel like the chicken should have a bit more kick in them. The rice was light and fluffy!! The hummus was really nice to have with the chicken and the little green thing on the side (again I AM SORRY !! I am horrible with names!!). Next the platter! It comes with beef and chicken shavings (well that's what I call them cause they gotta shave the meat whilst it goes around and around and around ) The platter comes with Turkish bread, olives, humus and yoghurt like dip and salad. I may have forgotten a few things but that's what's the picture is for !! Lols, overall the platter was like an average platter you would get (i.e. Cheese platter) Overall the place isn't too bad for a kebab stop or for a little Shish or even dessert ! Even though I haven't tried it lols. But with the total bill being nearly 50$ it's a little disappointing! But hey that's my say, I still think y'all should give it a try !! Peace !!

The Vegan Real Falafel Dish was nice, with lots of salads (diced cucumbers, tomatoes, and greens) stuffed into pita bread with a generous amount of falafels. It came with homemade hummus and this interesting green dip that is apparently from Yemen and was super-spicy! (Mr. Google tells me this dip is called "zhug" and is made out of cilantro, parsley, and hot peppers.) The falafel balls had a nice flavour, but they tasted a little too greasy and oily for my liking. Falafels are a tricky thing and everyone has their own preference -- to me, these were just a little too deep-fried and crunchy (I prefer softer, less oily falafels). But they were still nice. My dad had the "Brick Lane Salt Beef Sandwich" (pastrami, kosher pickles and mustard) and complained that the meat was still way too salty for his liking, in spite of the name. I don't think any of us have ever had Israeli food before, so maybe that explains it? The atmosphere of the place was cool, with interesting art and tapestries on the walls, and curtains dividing up the space. The service wasn't great. We arrived at the beginning of the lunch hour (11:45am) and several other tables were approached and served before us even though we had arrived first. They were also very slow to bring us the bill. The table itself was rickety and kept swinging every time we moved. Almost made me knock over my water glass -- should really be fixed. All in all, I won't hurry back although my dish was interesting and not bad for a unique dining experience.
