    Amazing dinner
    Cartee B.

Best Mediterranean meal I've had outside of Istanbul. Read the Yelp reviews and decided to come here for dinner. So glad I did. Sunday night and a $25 Special of app and entree or dessert and entree. I ordered the calamari and the mixed dinner of lamb, chicken and kofte. The calamari were good, served on rocket greens with an aioli. There weren't many, but I did mention the $25 special, right? They were well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The entree was divine. The meats, which were plentiful, came with the same rocket greens, a garlic hummus, and yoghurt dip. Usually kofte are dried and uninteresting; these were exactly the opposite: spiced wonderfully, and still moist. The chicken, likewise, was grilled with a little char on the outside, but juicy on the inside. The lamb (doner) were small bits that were a little tasteless, but cooked perfectly. The garlic hummus was aggressively garlic and served as a nice dip for the meats. So glad I believed the reviews and came here. The excellent, attentive service topped off a very pleasant meal.

Midnight Express is your place if you, like me, enjoy the flavours and zestiness of authentic Turkish cooking. Located smack bang in the heart of the CBD on Victoria Street, it has a nice east-meets-west ambience which is enhanced by the intimate scale of the restaurant. The menu is part Turkish, part Mediterranean. I'd recommend any of the grilled chicken dishes which come with lovely fresh salads, hummus and yogurt sauces. Enjoy with a nice white from the extensive wine list. Have never had a bad experience here, and it's equally suited to couples or groups. For the quality, it's very reasonably priced - even cheap.

This was a lucky find. Great middle eastern food! Their customer service was amazing and I really wanted wanted to compliment the chef! Their midnight mix is totally worthy to give a try. The kofte is really tasteful. I'd to anyone.

    Mezze platter

Great place for lunch. Friendly service and good food - had the mezze platter which had hummus, falafel, tzaziki, feta, olives, stuffed grape leaves and more, perfect for vegetarian peeps. The lamb shank was also very yummy and came in a huge portion. The midnight mixed plate was not as interesting as the other dishes. Walked in for lunch and didn't have to wait for a table, it was busy but not packed.

We ran in for lunch and had the grilled chicken express lunch. We had our food in about five minutes and it was delicious. It was a generous portion too.

    Yummy foods it is

The Vegan Real Falafel Dish was nice, with lots of salads (diced cucumbers, tomatoes, and greens) stuffed into pita bread with a generous amount of falafels. It came with homemade hummus and this interesting green dip that is apparently from Yemen and was super-spicy! (Mr. Google tells me this dip is called "zhug" and is made out of cilantro, parsley, and hot peppers.) The falafel balls had a nice flavour, but they tasted a little too greasy and oily for my liking. Falafels are a tricky thing and everyone has their own preference -- to me, these were just a little too deep-fried and crunchy (I prefer softer, less oily falafels). But they were still nice. My dad had the "Brick Lane Salt Beef Sandwich" (pastrami, kosher pickles and mustard) and complained that the meat was still way too salty for his liking, in spite of the name. I don't think any of us have ever had Israeli food before, so maybe that explains it? The atmosphere of the place was cool, with interesting art and tapestries on the walls, and curtains dividing up the space. The service wasn't great. We arrived at the beginning of the lunch hour (11:45am) and several other tables were approached and served before us even though we had arrived first. They were also very slow to bring us the bill. The table itself was rickety and kept swinging every time we moved. Almost made me knock over my water glass -- should really be fixed. All in all, I won't hurry back although my dish was interesting and not bad for a unique dining experience.

I ask if we can leave our name on a waitlist somewhere and they say they don't do waitlists, so we have to just wait there on the side. Weird but again, no problem. 45 minutes pass by so I politely ask if there's an update to the table. The hostess literally yells "I told you guys the status of the table multiple times." And storms away. I'm from the States so I'm not sure if I was breaking some cultural rules, or something, but I was really polite when asking, and I only asked one time. I was never told the status "multiple times" and I don't know who "you guys" is. This place needs a reality check, the food was awful and service was miserable. I don't recommend this establishment to anybody.
