I ordered sashimi, unagi don, and fried soft shell crab. I picked it up about an hour later and the…read moresashimi wasn't ready so I waited another 7 or so minutes while they rushed around to prepare and package my order. The octopus sashimi was not tender. The white tuna was not particularly buttery as it should have been if it was escolar (not sure what it was really). The eel was deliciously soft and had the traditional sweet unagi sauce atop. The fried soft shell crab for $7.95 was a whole crab fried into about four pieces. It was not as tender as I've had elsewhere but good for Searcy. The unagi don was in good portion with about seven slices of eel atop a bed of somewhat dry rice. It came with some pickled ginger, a wee bit of seaweed salad, and some artificial wasabi. The eel was good.

I was quite unimpressed with this place. It lacked ambiance, character and warmth. The service…read morewas robotic, and the food barely met standards.... I've gotta vent here..... as a former Sushi chef in Japan, this bastardization of Sushi has gone too far, and this place is just another contributor.... I see that people's favorites here are the Volcano Roll and other localized concoctions... Here's a hint: If you're seeing 'deep fried', 'sirachi', 'cream cheese' or a multitude of other American ingredients in your sushi roll, it's not Sushi. Sure, you enjoy it, and so do I sometimes, but let's stop calling it Sushi. Fair enough? Let's call them 'Fat Rolls' or "Saucy Snakes' or something that describes them better. OK, off my soapbox. This place is un-inspiring....

I hate doing this review because I genuinely wanted to like this place after reading all of the…read morereviews. But here is my experience and maybe it's just better to come in the summertime. First let's start off with saying that this is a food truck in a food truck yard and there's outdoor seating ONLY. We came and order some dinners with some friends and we noticed that the line wasn't very long so we didn't anticipate a very long wait. But it was also 20 degrees at night so we decided to wait in the car. He told us he will call us when the food is ready or text us. So..... One hour and 30 minutes goes by... and NO FOOD. We kept checking in and he kept giving us the runaround and he won't give us a refund so we kept waiting... but we were very frustrated and "hangry" at this point. When we finally got the food we found out that he gave our food to someone else. We figured it out. Because he messed up our phone number. There is only ONE person working. But to focus back on the food. I really don't know what the hype is because the food tasted super salty and it wasn't delicious at all. It wasn't really hibachi it was more like fried rice cooked with some vegetables in teriyaki seasoning with meat. I was so sad and hungry. Please don't waste your money if you're expecting a authentic hibachi experience or taste. Or even just delicious food.

We walked in and piano music was playing, the environment was calming, and the service was outstanding! I used to live in South Korea, and the food made me feel right at home.

Arrived in Little Rock, AR, for work and Kiyen's was recommended by colleague who travels to Japan…read more2x/year and enjoys authentic Japanese cuisine. He visited Kiyen's a year ago and reported a positive experience. I grew up in Hawaii eating Japanese cuisine prepared by Japanese family members and have traveled to Japan, too. I was excited to visit Kiyen's! Positive: owner was energetic and lovely! She took our orders and served our meals and was the best part of this place = 10/5 stars! I ordered two items for dinner: shrimp tempura and sushi with salmon. Not-so-positive: ordered udon and was told they ran out. Then ordered chicken katsu and was told they ran out of that, too, so ordered tempura and sushi after waiting 25 min. Should have stuck with gut feeling and ordered something other than sushi. While food presentation was appealing, flavor was lackluster and disappointing. Five out of 8 members in our party ordered sushi: rice wasn't seasoned or compacted well when preparing, each bite portion fell apart when picking up with chopsticks. Couldn't pick up and turn each piece to lightly dip salmon part (not rice) into soy sauce. Wasabi was tinted a fake green color, tasted weird and unauthentic but had a sharp bite. Soy sauce was watery and neither wasabi nor soy enhanced sushi flavor, which was needed because salmon was flavorless and fillings did not help = 2/5. Tempura arrived pale, limp and soggy, flavor lacking = 3/5. Overall: ambience and menu options were fine but food preparer appeared to lack experience in sushi making and was unable to keep up with orders. We waited for meals longer than expected, and when they did arrive, we ate in silence rather than boasting about what we each had ordered.
