It's a small corner business so you'll really have to look for it. It looks very small like it wouldn't have much to it. Once you get inside you'll see that they have 4 hibachis and a sushi bar. The dining area if you're not doing hibachi is a little small, but it makes it kinda need because you're so close to the hibachi you can watch the show. The sushi is really good. Always seems to be fairly fresh. I don't care for the dressing on the house salad. The use the mayo based ginger dressing and I prefer the other one. Overall pretty good place to eat. read more

There are not a TON of options in this part of town but I was looking forward to some sushi. Walking in I was a little disappointed. The building could really use a makeover. It's not bad just not super clean/nice. My husband and father-in-law enjoyed hibachi while my mother-in-law and myself had sushi. My salmon roll was okay. Shumi was pretty soggy. I've been to another hibachi place much closer to my home (incidentally also called Little Tokyo, but in Metairie) and that place was unbelievably overpriced and bland. Pretty good little sushi restaurant. I went there with my friend, her husband, and my sister over the weekend. My friend's husband and I ordered hibachi and my sister ordered a rock and roll. My friend ordered a snow crab salad which was huge! The chicken hibachi meal was good. I really enjoyed the chicken, rice, and veggies. The salad that comes with the meal was just okay. Do not go there , I was a loyal customer for over 20 yrs until they continued to mess up my order and give me a hard time to fix it. The. Managers have poor customer service skills and the quality of the food is declining, they usually open at 11 , but open at 12 when they feel like it. I was gonna take my Brother there for his Bday , but he told me they messed up his order 3 times already and another loyal friend of hours. That's 4 people I know complaining . Little Tokyo has always been one of my favorites when it comes to hibachi! The prices are a tad bit higher for certain things, but it is all great quality and presentation. I loved everything that I've tried from there and don't understand why some people are so mad in the reviews.. don't listen to them it's great, try the Boutte roll and the seafood fried rice. read more

You must sit at the sushi bar if you can. The bar isn't very big with a lot of seating, but if you do you get a free sushi bar salad, and to be honest that salad is the best thing there. I use to go here pretty regularly and became familiar with the sushi chef. He was such a friendly guy and told me he use to be a hair dresser of all things. I don't enjoy giving sour reviews. I have been told the hibachi is amazing here. After three rather disgusting sushi tries, I gave up. I love sushi. Tina should never be the color of cooked salmon. Ever. The other day a friend came to visit and wanted to eat at Little Tokyo for hibachi. She talked me into it. So we went. It's dirty. The clear soup had no flavor. My tea glass had a white gluey residue on the inside. There's something off tasting in the rice. Most of my concern is lack of cleanliness and lack of quality. I can't believe it's taken me this long to write this review. Now that I've done this at a few other places, I have to say it: I love our little hibachi place! They actually have tables and a menu in addition to the hibachi area, and a sushi bar (which friends have said is good), but we always get the hibachi. Always. It's fun and delicious and why fix what ain't broke, ya know? The fried rice is super good, the hibachi chicken is delicious, the veggies are yummy, and hi - THERE IS FIRE AND THAT IS COOL. In the grand scheme of things, the chef-guys (I bet they have a special name - shame on me) here aren't the greatest in terms of showmanship, but if you've never done hibachi before it will be fun and cool. We're slightly ruined after dipping our toes in other hibachi-guy waters, but it's still entertaining nonetheless. And the food more than makes up for it -- every time we go somewhere else the "this is good, but the stuff we get at home is better" statement inevitably falls out of my mouth. And it's cheaper too. Pro tip - GO AT LUNCH; it's by far the most affordable time of day and best value. They add some sort of noodles to the meal when you order the same stuff at dinner, and maybe there's a little more of everything else there (MAYBE), but the prices at night are substantially higher and we can never eat everything even when we go for lunch. And that's with me splitting a meal with the kiddo. Bear in mind, they have added a $3 "sharing" charge if you decide to split a meal like we do, but the times we've gone since then have netted a separate soup and salad for each sharing party, so it's justifiable in my mind at least. Still a great value and yummy food, and need I remind you - FIRE. Enough said. :) read more

Exceptional service!!! I went in just me and my little boy the food was not only wonderful (had boutte roll and tempura chicken for my little guy) but hands down the best service. I had the Houma Roll and my husband had the Boutte roll, both tasted very good and were presented very nicely. The seaweed salad had good flavor and good texture. We will definitely go back. Everyone was friendly and pleasant. Would have given it 5 stars if it was cleaner(decoration and air vents looked dusty) and if some of the pictures of food they have on the menu were actually available. Decided to try Little Tokyo for lunch. I ordered the Metairie roll and spicy tuna roll with a side of sriracha sauce. What I was given was a Metairie with almost no tuna and spicy tuna rolls that the tuna looked not quite fresh and no sriracha sauce instead hoisin sauce. The menu was completely different than the Little Tokyo in Metairie. Clearly not the same operation but working under the same name. Very misleading. Will not be back. I have been 3 times with my girlfriend. We had hibachi on our first trip. For me hibachi is all about the show. Our chef was lack luster at best. So on our second trip we just ordered some rolls and sat at a table. The rolls were good. My only complaint on our second trip was about hibachi. I saw the same chef we had on our first trip turn on the vent hood using the spatula he cooked all the food with. I was a little grossed out. However we went again Saturday and saw the same chef use his cooking tools to turn the hood on a second time. I will just assume he did the same when he cooked for us. I like this place. We come here when we want hibachi. Favorite roll by far is the burning women roll. We get it every time. I do wish they had a kids menu. I went here recently to eat hibachi and the lady that works there, which is the owner/manager of the place, did not return any of my change back to me. I waited a couple minutes then went up the counter to ask for my change back and she said that I was a Fujiyama customer (which is another sushi place in luling)and that she did not like me and i wasn't allowed to eat here anymore. Their raw sushi fish is fresh, and taste delicious. Their Habachi rice and noodle dishes is a little too salty sometimes, but still taste good. They put on a very good show at their Habachi Grill area, by tossing their shrimps in the air and making a volcano fire out of their onions, and having a little toy that pees out water. Although not all their staff is Asian, their staff seems to promote the Japanese culture and demeanor, by nodding their head in a polite manner in the same way that Japan do it. They do their best to promote an authentic Japanese culture by their polite demeanor of how they greet and thank their customers. The employees represent themselves in a Japanese culture by the way they dress, nod their heads, and by the polite gentle way they talk. This restaurant is better than some other Japanese restaurants in Louisiana. They have very good food, and they are very good in promoting an authentic Japanese culture and atmosphere. One of the habachi cook is funny and amazing. He always nods his head politely, just like the polite mannerism of the Japanese culture. The sushi is amazing too.
