Without a doubt the best spa I have ever been to, great location and brilliant facilities. If you have the time look for mid-week deals as these can bring down the cost a little.

I absolutely love Ragdale Hall! I have been twice, once for the day and once for an overnight stay…read more Ragdale Hall is set off the baten track and is quiet and peaceful - just what you would expect from a spa. On arrival at the spa you are taken to the cafe area served refreshments and asked to complete the paperwork needed during your stay. Then its on to the changing rooms to change into your swimwear and robes (whih are provided). The changing rooms are modern and very clean with plenty of lockers. The pool area is great for relaxing with a jacuzzi and different massage jets, steam room, sauna etc etc. We did a couple of different classes while we were there, aqua aerobics and a pom pom workout both of which were really great fun. The food although healthy was beautiful and was served in a very grand room. You can go back to get more food as many times as you like which is good as it gives you a chance to sample lots of the lovely dishes. We had a couple of treatments there (massage & facial) which were a real treat. The neck shoulder and back massage was fab and just what I needed to de-stress. They use clarins and decleor products and advise you what they are using. Be aware that there are male staff that do the treatments so if you are not comfortable with this, you should advise the staff. There is a lovely quiet room with big comfy sofas and chairs and newspapers, books etc so it's worth grabbing a coffee and heading their for an afternoon chill/nap. The hotel room we stayed in was a spacious triple room with a small lounge area. It was very clean and tidy and nicely decorated and furnished. The beds were very comfortable and we felt right at home. In the morning your breakfast is brought to you in bed which was brilliant. They have a couple of differnet shops within Ragdale Hall which are nice to browse around and you can buy your Clarins/Decleor products from the shop near the treatment room. I can't wait to go back to Ragdale hall. As you would expect, Ragdale Hall is very expensive (especially for the overnight stay) but it is worth signing up with them on their website as you will be sent special offers with some good savings. It is perfect to take your mum/sisters or if you just fancy a girlie, relaxing weekend away.

All of the treatments are fantastic, especially if you're down and need a bit of pampering 'me' time. I've been going there for more than 10 years and I have my nails done, my toes, waxing and the occasional facial. (we all need a bit of help as we get older!) The girls are always friendly, they do their absolute best to fit me in at short notice if I need them to and I would completely recommend both of them for whatever treatments you need.

Makes me shudder thinking about it. What possessed me? Your guess is as good as mine, but I thought, "Surely it has to be easier and longer lasting!" I have had a couple of waxes before... bikini line and legs. Both with hot wax and a strip. It was enough to put me off... until now. I found this place, thought the prices were reasonable, they offered a wider range of waxes than some places, and I knew where it was. All important. I rang up and the "receptionist" did not know what times were available or even what kind of waxing services were available. So she offered to take my name and number and have someone call me back. I gave her my number and she repeated it back to me, incorrectly three times. I tried to read it to her and on the last one, she did not read it back to me, so I thought she had gotten it. She did not. However, because my 'merican accent gives me away. They assumed that I was with part of the study abroad program and called Reception. At least she got my name right so they were able to narrow it down. The lady answered my questions and was able to schedule me for the same week. When I arrived for my appointment, there was only one staff member rushing about getting things sorted. She popped downstairs to greet me and led me to a room upstairs. We talked about what I wanted to have done and then she stepped out of the room to allow me to change. They have the normal wax and strips, but for the more sensitive areas, they use a different kind of wax that does not need strips. Apparently when you apply it, it shrink wraps itself around the hair, but not the skin like the strips. While it still hurts like a mofo, it is in fact less painful, especially on the skin than the strips and I think it is more effective at getting hair. The lady was very friendly and did not mind chatting with me and answering my questions. After I got changed, we went downstairs so I could pay. Again, the non-chip-and-pin issue.... This machine didn't have a swipe area, however, instead of telling me she could not run the card (as some places WRONGLY do... by contract if they take Visa and Mastercard, they have to take all Visa and Mastercard, chip or no chip), she looked at me for direction. Remember that at our college if someone orders a t-shirt online, we have to type in the card number. So I walked her through it. The receipt printed out, but she was a little skeptical of the whole thing, so she asked if she could take my phone number in case it does not go through, so I said yes. She also provided me with a pamphlet of all the services and prices. I have to say at £20, I thought it was good value for the money. If you have to get waxed... you at least want the experience to be as painless as possible, since there will be enough pain anyway!
