Need to rewrite I think my review because it got deleted?…read more I used to come here for tutoring for AP bio like 6-7 (unironically) years ago so take my review with a grain of salt. I loved this one male tutor, I think his name was David, so much because he never showed that he judged me and broke down concepts super simply and always encouraged me. This is how all tutors should be. But there was this one woman who went to Harvard or something who brought my mom and I into the office and basically told me it was too late for me and went on and on for a good 30 minutes-an hour about how I'd "never get into a good school" even though I had a 4.0 and I was on a good path, had clinical hours as a 13 year old, and was doing really well. She kept flexing that she went to Harvard and she could tell who would succeed or not, basically saying I'm going to fail at life because she could tell I wasn't going to make it. Ok good for you???? And surprise, she was wrong. I got into the top schools in California and am about to graduate with honors. I wasn't sure if writing a review after this long was fair, since I'm not sure if she still works there, but I still carry that negative memory with me to this day and even included this experience in my college essays. Hope she's not working there anymore and putting students down like that... Hopefully this was just a one-off experience but I'm not confident that it was, since she was way too comfortable rambling on like that. I would give one star because of her but that one tutor saved the rating a little bit.

David and his team works incredibly hard to ensure they understand what their students need in order to achieve success in their academic careers. As they've been in business for OVER 15 years, they are incredibly knowledgeable and really understand the material the teachers give out in surrounding SGV schools. I appreciate the heart they put into their students and it is evident that they not only genuinely care about the student's education but also for their wellbeing. I trust that any student who comes here will only grow for the better. Thank you so much David and instructors for providing so much value to the community.

Our child enrolled in Kumon at the age of six, and we've been part of the program for a year now…read more In addition to noticeable improvements in reading and math, we've also had the valuable opportunity to observe how he responds to challenges. This has allowed us to learn how to better support him. In the beginning, it was a learning curve for us as parents--to be patient and flexible. We truly appreciate this unexpected benefit of Kumon: it's helped us grow alongside our child. We'd also like to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Nandi for her consistent support and understanding. She's been patient and accommodating throughout our child's learning journey, adjusting to his pace and encouraging his growth. Her guidance has made a real difference.

At first, we had concerns about her attention during math lessons, but it became clear that her struggles were rooted in foundational fluency rather than focus. Once she began receiving targeted support, everything started to fall into place. With her growing confidence and improved speed in core concepts, she's now completing homework in under 20 minutes--something that used to take well over an hour. Not only is she faster, but her accuracy has significantly improved too. What makes this program especially valuable is how well Mrs Nandi has adapted to meet her individual learning needs(hard of hearing), including her communication style. They've created a supportive, inclusive environment where she feels understood and empowered. The cost is manageable, and the results have far exceeded our expectations. We're incredibly thankful for the impact this program has had on her confidence and academic success.

My experience at Elite was filled with an overwhelming amount of stress and fatigue. However, I…read morewould do it all over again knowing the end result. I first went to Elite the summer before my junior year for the SAT Prep Bootcamp. Admittedly, I hated every moment of it in the beginning. However, as the weeks went on, I came to look forward to my classes, as the teachers were friendly and easy to talk to, with a genuine desire to help their students understand the content. Although I may not have always been the best student, Elite's attentive staff and friendly environment combined with endless drilling of essays and math problems helped me improved my score over 200 points. I returned to Elite the summer before my senior year for their college application package. While the price tag on the CAW Plus Package may seem daunting, I can assure you that every cent was worth it. I was assigned to a counselor, Jon Kang, and an essay editor, Cheny Ng. Over the course of dozens of stressful one on one meetings, both on my end and on theirs (sorry Jon), they helped me transform my painfully incoherent essays into ones that were somehow tolerable enough to get me into my number one school. Once again, I found myself looking forward to Elite because my meetings with the counselors were not only filled with improvement, new ideas, and self discovery, they were filled with the amazing feelings of accomplishment and joy. In short, I've come to see Elite as another home because of how comfortable I've grown in that atmosphere and with all the staff. The people there truly care about the success of all their students and take the time and effort to make sure everyone gets the help they need. I've practically thrown out all the writing skills I acquired during my application process (bc let's be honest senioritis is very real) sIf you've made it this far in my review, I'd like to apologize for my writing, for I no longer have Jon and Cheny by my side to edit my work:(

As a former student of 5 years and current teacher/teacher's assistant at Steps, I've definitely…read morehad an overall positive experience with the afterschool. I attribute much of my foundational knowledge in math and English vocabulary and grammar to what I learned at Steps. It seems tedious to a kid, but repetitive practice in math is important to build the foundations you need for future algebra and calculus classes. Once you have that, you're able to spend time learning new topics. As a fifth grader, I was learning algebra and trigonometry, which is what I liked about Steps; I was never limited by my age or grade level to what I could learn, and it was very encouraging to get yellow pages and physically see the progress I was making. As for English, vocabulary, proper spelling, knowing grammar rules, reading comprehension, and critical thinking are all important not only in school but also in the real world, and those are all topics that Steps teaches. From a teacher's perspective, in my 4-5 years of teaching at Steps, I will say that my fellow TAs and I try our best to be kind and understanding to the students. We get that most of them have just come from six hours of school, and I myself have been in their position in the past. At the same time, we try and make sure that the student's finish their school homework for the day and that they're not disrupting each other from their assignments. We also give plenty of attention to students, spending hours grading their work and proofreading their essays, while also answering any questions they have and teaching them new material for the week. In my opinion, the knowledge learned and study habits built while at Steps will make for an easier and smoother experience in school in the future, when students reach high school and college.

I am a former student of Steps for 4 years. Looking back at my experience with it, I can…read moreconfidently say that much of my success in high school was built through the rigorous training I had from Steps Academy. Yes, it is a lot of work on top of juggling your school work, extracurriculars, and other commitments. However, the repetitive work ingrains the foundation of math that will be expected in not just high school-level math, but even at the middle school level. Making sure you understand your order of operations, geometry, and other fundamental concepts of math, and then fine-tuning that knowledge through practice, is at the core of what they do. Their English portions explained a lot of the English rules that I have always used, but never knew the terms for. The verb tenses, vocabulary development, and reading analysis that I mastered helped me in my future English courses and essays. As a student there, there were times when I felt frustrated by the amount of work or the way that I was expected to do it (like showing all my work or writing out the equations), but after going through high school, I'm sure that doing it their way helped me build important habits that I would use all the time. Overall, I believe that Steps Academy is a strict but enriching environment that can not only develop fundamental academic knowledge for the future but also help build discipline and work habits that will be necessary throughout life.

Originally, we would like to file a formal complaint against C2 Education but it seems that there…read moreis no government agency or department govern this type of "Education Institution". Unfortunately, the only way to reduce the chance others will fall into the same problem we had is to write a review. We purchased 50 hours credit for my daughter June 24, 2023. Initially, I want their teacher to help my daughter on algebra for few classes. The "Director" at the Monrovia office was pushing us to purchase more hours so my daughter can use them for SAT preparation and college application preparation. He claimed that it is 100% money back guarantee and the hours will not expired. We purchased 50 hours of credit to use them for algebra, SAT Prep and more importantly college application preparation. My daughter did take 1-2 classes on algebra and few classes on SAT preparation and found not very helpful. We stopped and was hoping to use the hours for college application preparation. When I called their office on August 16, 2024. The new director informed me that the hours I purchased were expired. If I need to use their service, I need to purchase addition hours. I feel that we were completely misled and some degree scam by C2 Education. First of all, their director promised me that the hours will not expired (that is why he kept pushing me to buy more hours). The director no longer there. When we visited them last year, he was new. It seems there are a lot of turnover for some reasons. Secondly, When I purchased the hours June last year and hoping to use some of the hours for college preparation, the director should have known that many of the hours would have expired before my daughter ready for college application. He knowingly concealed the information. I understand that they are running a business and want to make money. However, they should have integrity particularly as an education institution.

I went here as a kid and in hindsight this place is not good…read more First, there is the false advertising. When I was enrolled, it was implied that a good art portfolio is key to a good University application. However, it is hard to get anywhere with art without passion. Second, the environment isn't good. Students are expected to draw in a room without even windows. There is a passionless attitude among students because of how this place takes advantage of Chinese parent's dreams of sending their kids to ivy universities. Also, this place did not do much to help any of their students enroll in local art competitions while I was there. If you happen to think about enrolling your kid since they are in fact passionate about art, there is a lot better places that would better support their passion in a fun and lively manner. This place is more of a daycare with art supplies.
