Our instructor Kristen (and the blonde instructor -- forgot her name) were patient and encouraging throughout the entire class. Kristen's in depth explanation + demonstration was easy to follow as a beginner, but the instructors frequently made their rounds to work with everyone individually, giving advice and feedback. Despite the class session only being 2 hrs, I felt like I was able to focus on improving basic skills and learning new techniques. Even if you don't have any interest in pottery, I HIGHLY recommend taking a class regardless. The space is welcoming, and it was a great (and fun) way to release stress creatively :) looking forward to how my pieces come out!

It was a full class and the instructor patiently explained each step. Before you sign up, make sure to read the description carefully. There are hand-building classes and wheel throwing classes. Hand-building is hand molding and you don't work with the wheel. My one-time matcha bowl and whisk holder making class was hand-building and we don't get to decorate or glaze it. Instead, you get to pick from a selection of paint colors and their team finish glazing and fire it for you. You also need to wait about 6 weeks for it to be ready for pick up, which is standard for community pottery places. I picked the white paint with specks which I regretted. The glaze came back with some uneven spots and a dark brown mark on the outside. Since the studio glazed it for us, I was a little disappointed with the final result. Pottery definitely tests your patience and perfectionism. Not sure if pottery is for me, but I might come back for their wheel throwing class.

The kids rotate through different art classes everyday doing things like wearable art, puppetry, acting, working on different art mediums appropriate to their age groups. My daughter was excited to go everyday and kept asking why the camp was so short by the end. There is a fun exhibition at the end to see all their work. She loved all the teachers especially Ms. Allison which she just adored and was so sad to leave. The camp is affordable and not for profit, highly recommend for kids who love arts and crafts!

The following courtesy class policies are designed to accommodate students as well as not overbook the classes and are strictly enforced. 1. A courtesy class is awarded if you miss your regular for any reason. We ask that you cancel in advance if you know you will not be able to attend your regular class time as this may provide an opportunity for other students to attend their Courtesy Classes. 2. Courtesy classes may only be scheduled within a month in which your Class Membership is paid. 3. Courtesy classes are scheduled in addition to, not in place of, your regular scheduled class. 4. Courtesy classes cannot be credited toward account balances, Membership fees nor substituted for regular classes. 5. Once scheduled, a courtesy class cannot be rescheduled. They show genuine care and form relationships with all their students, making the learning experience personalized. They have a clear understanding of what they expect for the most growth in their students, keeping the class challenging and fun. From training students to set up still lifes with dynamic compositions to teaching color combinations, each and every project was treated with care, designed to push students to grow. Through these projects, I not only learned art techniques, but they also trained me to develop resilience and patience. I have grown as a person, and I use what I learn in their class in my daily life. When I became a senior in high school and started to apply to colleges, their support and guidance brought me to success. Ms. Rebecca and Mr. Corey knew the exact standard of a college portfolio, teaching me how to select and organize pieces. They continued to motivate me, dedicated to the development of my portfolio. In the end, I got into many prestigious art schools including RISD, ArtCenter, CalArts, Pratt, and Parsons. Words cannot express my appreciation for Ms. Rebecca and Mr. Corey. In his second year, my son was diagnosed as autistic with adhd and the school was incredibly difficult to work with when we tried to get my son the support he needed. After only two months with the new kindergarten teacher, counselor and principal, we had to switch schools as the kindergarten teacher ended up threatening my son that she would call the police on him and have him taken away because he was having an autistic meltdown. I find out later that other kids were also threatened similarly and also pulled their kids from this school. These children are six years old. There is no excuse to threaten them. My son was afraid of going to school, and he went from a happy, sweet kid who loved school to depressed, anxious, had nightmares, and was terrified the police were going to send him to jail. We needed services asap but staff would stall and gaslight us about the IEP process. They would tell us they knew what they were doing and I just needed to trust them.
