This place was delicious! Pros: Plenty of indoor/ outdoor seating Delicious pastries - the lemon ricotta pastry was my favorite. The Asian fusion mandos were also delicious- we had the pork / shrimp, and the egg/ chive. Servings are small though. Packed up our takeout very nicely. Has its own parking underground and also close to municipal parking Hot chocolate (and pistachio hot chocolate) was yummy! Has kids games and coloring sheets to keep lils entertained Cons: No low fat dairy options for drinks but does have oat and almond milks. Food took a while to come out even if it's premade and just getting heated. I think you can also just get it cold to go and heat yourself. Pro tips: Unheated pastries available at their to-go stand across the street

Cute café‑bakery vibe. Food is standard café fare, but done cleanly--the salad was evenly dressed, the lemon ricotta pain moist and dense. Tried the original chocolate chip and the oatmeal cookies but the original chocolate remains the star of the show for me. Service was friendly and nice. Overall, an easy, pleasant stop.

Updating my review because they've updated their menu somewhat. This time, my mixed greens were dressed with an actual salad dressing which gave them a lot more flavor. And my Brussels sprouts were fried and drizzled with a balsamic glaze. And the potatoes were also fried and super delicious and crunchy. They now also offer a dipping sauce on the side as well, and I chose lemon aioli. But with actually sauces and flavoring added to my sides, I didn't actually use much of it. And I chose roasted chicken instead of the tasteless fried cutlet and was pleasantly surprised by both the portion size and the flavor. Service at the counter was very amiable and pleasant and he even stopped by later at our table to check in on how our meal is going. We sat outside surrounded by many leafy plants where there was also a nice breeze and shade. Overall, a great experience and probably one of the most reasonably priced lunch options in Menlo Park.

Positive vibes and great views all around and in a very convenient location walking distance to/from the Menlo Park train too. Little Sky Kitchen looks hidden and small inside, but it's a pretty legit cafe/coffee spot. Feels inviting and great out here! I had a small hot cup matcha latte $7 with a poppyseed muffin $6 and was satisfied with the cashier who was chatting with me. Friendly and conversational. Grab a table number if dining here. Pastries looked amazing. They have good breakfast/lunch menu items to choose from. Excitement is next door with the popular and spacious Cafe Borrone taking center attention, especially around lunchtime with career professionals dining indoors and outdoors. It's quiet at Little Sky Kitchen, which fits the business name and type of place. There's free public parking in garage under this Menlo Center plaza. Street parking is much harder to find. I am tempted to try more items next time. Environment was fabulous for this little cafe/restaurant setting. I'll be back!

I was in the area and found this location specifically for its pastries. Firstly, I'd like to say everything looked amazing! I ended up getting the double chocolate chip cookie and the Nutella stuffed bread, initially. Both items were full of flavor, tasted fresh, were very affordable. I wish the bread was warmed up though because it would have taken it to another level! I noticed they had a full lunch menu and decided to indulge. I had the roasted chicken, Brussels sprouts, and carrot slaw! The carrot slaw was PHENOMENAL! It seemed to be tossed in a sweet gochujang marinade that was cold and refreshing. Oh and btw the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I'll be back! Pros: Affordable. A nice patio with a relaxing chill ambiance. Fresh tasting meals full of flavor. Delicious sweet treats. Great for Cons: A little oily if you're being health conscious.

I hate to do this because I want to support small businesses and I have otherwise enjoyed my meals here (though a tad pricey for the portions), but I had a very disappointing experience here today (Sunday 11am). Brought my two kids and husband here for an early lunch. It was very cold and I popped in to ask the lady at the register if dogs were allowed inside. She was very kind and went on and on about how they were very dog friendly, yes dogs are permitted inside, do we want a dog bowl and treats, etc. After that I ask my husband to move the group inside from the patio, proceed to order a $75 fast casual meal, and have now situated in a four seater. Then someone else comes out and asks if my dog is a service dog, and I say no. She then says we have to go outside for health code reasons. I explain that I just asked and was told we could sit inside before I ordered and she did not care. No concern that they'd just told us the opposite, no effort to help problem solve or make our move easier, NO APOLOGY for the mistake or inconvenience. I would expect basic acknowledge, apologize and offer to help us move? She was worse than a chatbot. Really poor customer experience and sort of erases all of our prior experiences here. I didn't catch her name but she has short hair and I think it was dyed orange. Do better. Food is still tasty.

I love this place, and am not sure why I procrastinated for so long on writing a review for them. Location/ambiance: For context, I work right across the train tracks from Little Sky, at Saint Frank Coffee. So it's uber convenient for me to come here during my lunch breaks, which I usually do around 3-4 times per week. I really appreciate the music and overall ambiance here. It makes for a good place for a conversation, which I see a lot of people doing here. For me, I definitely come for the food and for a quiet space to decompress from work with a book or devotional. And so, the pretty outdoor patio, comfortable seating, and soothing music are all much appreciated attributes of this environment for me. Food: I really enjoy the food. Firstly, the fact that it's relatively healthy and freshly cooked is big for me. Second, the flavor in the roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts is something I genuinely look forward to. The rotisserie chicken and fried chicken are both pretty bland on their own, to be honest, but the lazi sauce easily makes up for this. Sauces: To take a moment on the lazi sauce, it's like a semi-sweet, non-spicy chili flake based sauce that is simply really, really good. If you go & make a similar order to mine, try it. The dark sweet soy sauce is delicious as well. Lastly, I'd be remiss to not mention the breakfast sandwich -- absolutely delicious. Only reason I don't have a photo of it is because I can never wait long enough before devouring it to catch a photo! Price: this one's a bit complicated for me because when they first opened, they were selling their plate with one protein + three sides for $10. Just 10 dollars!!!!! Since then, they've raised the price to $18. Which is understandable given the generally high cost of goods in this area. It's just disappointing for me. So, I've adjusted so that I can continue coming here by limiting myself on weekdays to just one protein with the lazi sauce -- $9. On weekends if I'm here, I'll treat myself to the full plate with sides for $18. Service: I wish I could give a shout out to all their workers, because essentially everyone who has worked here during the last year I have been coming here have been friendly, welcoming, and at the very least polite towards me. From the current staff, I want to acknowledge Harper for always greeting me with a smile. Georgina and Miracle are both especially welcoming and warm, and I enjoy having conversations with them whenever time allows. There are a few more staff members whose names I either don't know yet, or who worked here in the past. So giving them a general shout out and thank you. A final note is that the staff has turned over quite a bit over the past year, which can be disappointing as a regular customer as you don't get to see the people you form mini-friendships with anymore. I understand this is a natural element of food service, especially in this area, but just wanted to note that as well. However, even with all the turnover, pretty much every new person who has come to work here has been kind, warm, and welcoming towards me. Which actually ends up meaning more than you would think when I've made this my regular lunch spot I go to more days out of the week than not. Thanks again to everyone at Little Sky! Best, Kyle

    Original chocolate chip cookie

Came to try their pastries. Their original chocolate chip was good, so I bought more to share with friends. It's a chunky, chewy cookie with walnuts and dried apricots. The outdoor seating area is cute! Not sure how often their small pop up store is open, but we saw it across the street in front of Philz coffee. They had a lot more pastry offerings, esp challah bread. I got the pistachio challah bread. It was good but $6 for one roll and a little pistachio stuffing is a bit steep. I'd recommend sticking with the cookie!

    Iced latte, onion parm bialy
    Katie K.

I went kind of close to closing and the guy manning the cashier started giving out random extra buns to customers. I originally only ordered a coffee and a savory bread but came back home with an extra nutella bun. The inside is sorta limited in seating but they have a lot more tables outside. The onion parm bialy ended up being a bit dry and hard. I wanted to love it cuz it looked so yummy but it was just alright.

    Cute dog-friendly patio (7 tables)!

The brunch culture is cray. Waiting 1-2+ hours to pay $20+ for eggs, bacon, and toast is not my jam. If you see a mob of brunch goers outside Café Borrone and don't want to wait... Little Sky Kitchen! (They're hidden to the left of it.) Sure, it's not brunch fare but when you're hangry and can't wait any longer, why not support another local small business for sustenance? An offshoot of Little Sky Bakery, Little Sky Kitchen is churning out an eclectic mix of French, Italian, and Northern Chinese savory goods. The owner started selling her scratch made baked goods in 2018 in Farmers Markets. Since then, she's opened a brick & mortar location just across the street on Santa Cruz Avenue and has a stall at State Street Market (food hall) in Los Altos. Open for takeout and dine-in. We were headed to Stanford Shopping Center so stopped by for a snack. There was no line and it was empty the entire time we were there (Sunday 10 am - 10:30 am). Good option for a quiet meal. M E N U Chinese Baos and Mando, Italian Pano (pizza), Sandwiches, and Entrees (already prepared): rotisserie chicken, schnitzel, beef bourguignon, braised pork belly and Sides: potatoes, rice, grilled veggies. For non-savory, they had muffins, scones, cookies, and cake slices. Drinks: Hot tea and coffee. Most items were kept in the cold case and can be warmed up upon request. Steep pricing but it's Menlo Park. F O O D * Shrimp & Pork Mando ($7.50) // 4 stars: https://tinyurl.com/k44h8bnf --Requested to heat it up Best described as a large, flattened Sheng Jian Bao, pan-fried pork bun without the soup. Crispy on the outside with a savory pork, shrimp, and chive filling. The middle was quite doughy tho. * House-cured Lox Sandwich ($16) // 3.75 stars: https://tinyurl.com/2ue5f7j8 Good quality ingredients, silky smooth lox that wasn't too salty with a delicious chive (?) cream cheese and refreshing cucumbers. Because it's kept in the cold case, the seeded baguette was too tough and chewy to enjoy (at 10 am opening time). We had to deconstruct the sandwich to eat it. Had it been assembled to order, it would probably be 5 stars. S E R V I C E Warm, welcoming service. There's only one staff FOH and one baker. A M B I A N C E Quaint and cozy with two tables inside and little nook seating area. Lox sandwich served without any lox
    Bonnie N.

Ordered a lox sandwich, but instead got a sandwich with no lox. Bread was also hard. They weren't able to fix our sandwich because the kitchen staff left after we realized their mistake. The manager shared that they had put away the smoked salmon, and they didn't know how to get more out of the machine. They offered a refund and a complimentary chocolate chip cookie, which we had also gotten as a sample when we entered the shop and enjoyed. The fried chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was kind of soggy and flavorless. Hot latte was okay. Not amazing, but also not bad.

Lots of tasty drink options with milk choices and customizable sweetness and ice level - much appreciated! Cakes were delicious and filled with freshly whipped cream. We had the hojicha and biscoff ones. Not incredibly busy - a lot of orders were takeout. Cons: A lot of things were out of stock by 1pm but maybe this is due to Mother's Day. Pricey but the items were high quality. Store is a small footprint with limited utilities (no WiFi, bathroom was temporarily out of order). Parking is very difficult- it's on el Camino so the cars are unforgiving if you're trying to parallel park, and the road parallel by a block is not much better. You pay about 8 dollars for a drink or soft serve, and if you ask for light ice they still pack it with ice and honestly you get hardly any drink, secondly lately the lady that made my cone the last few times likes to do a big circle and leave a big hole in the soft serve which also now leaves you with less / hardly any ice cream for your money. Most importantly I had the worst customer service from her this last visit. It was so bad another lady waiting for her items asked for her name and told her the same things I was saying. I have to say the day I went in, the young lady working the register was very sweet and helpful. Hats off to her for knowing what customer service is. Most importantly, the older lady working drinks and the soft serve machine about 1:30 ish ( name might be vaung? Didn't hear after when I walked away) today was rude as all can be and so unprofessional!!! Her alone makes me not want to go back. I ordered 2 drinks and a soft serve. My order was called out. when I went to retrieve it, It was missing the soft serve and the one drink didn't have the soft serve in it either. I told her my order is missing two things and she yells out this is order 2. I said it's wrong and she pushes the drinks towards me. I explained again what's wrong and she proceeded to help someone else. Comes back and says this is your order. I pull out my receipt and say there's no soft serve cone or soft serve in the drink, and may I please have a bag for the drinks. She goes to make my cone finally, gives me my cone and again I have to say there's no soft serve in the drink. She looks at the drink like I'm lying and then inspected the drink to see if there was any. smh ... literally looks at the drink and starts shaking it to see if there's any. Then finally does go to take care of it. She comes back with it. I asked for a bag again and then she says I need to charge you. Mind you, i'm holding the cone in one hand and the two drinks in my other arm against my chest . Whether or not you're supposed to charge is beyond the point it's the fact that she never apologized. It took more than once to get this right and then you're gonna make me go pay for a bag separately when my hands are full with two drinks and an ice cream cone on top of it. It was the way she handled it all. She was rude!!!! On top of it, then another lady actually proceeded to complain about her because she was rude to her as well, and she laughed at us, like it was okay for her to be rude or whatever we're saying was a joke. Worst customer service I've ever had in there and I felt this is something that should be mentioned. on top of it lastly she left a nice big hole in the middle of my cone so I barely got any ice cream. Might not care because I'm just one person, but they just lost a customer. Maybe two from what I saw today. Do better!! With all the other business around if someone is choosing to come in to your establishment, they should not be treated rude. Looking at some of the other reviews as well, I see the ice thing and bag thing has been repeated. If you know someone's order multiple things and you see they are alone. Maybe ask will you need a bag before hand. Not when they have everything handed to them and then say I need to charge you. I tried to call the management to bring this to them first and there's no answer on the phone or the email I sent over. Maybe they don't care either.

My family and I stopped by Marvel Cake during Mother's Day for a sweet treat on Sunday. This location is in the strip of Downtown Palo Alto and has limited parking (similar to the rest of the stores there, there is a lot of parking, and you will need to get lucky). My mom does like the Marvel Cake in their first location, so we swung by here to try this one out! Location-wise, this is a smaller shop than the original one in West San Jose with limited seating inside. I would say it's not work from home friendly however, I did see a college student next to me on her laptop so maybe I am incorrect here! The interior is nice and light, matching the elegance of the desserts. We ordered three items on the menu: the pillow cake, the bisou, and the blueberry lavender roll. Here are some thoughts: * Pillowcase cake: It may seem like this would be a fluffy cake due to the nature of its shape, but it is a gelatinous Jell-O cake with fruit jam. It was not bad, and tasted refreshing and light. I didn't know if I liked it at first, but ultimately I did come back for seconds and thirds, so this is approved. * Blueberry lavender roll cake: This was not at all what we were expecting. I did not taste any lavender, nor did it have a strong blueberry flavor. I think what threw our party off was the layer of gelatin that surrounded the cake. Texturally, we were not a big fan. * Bisou: This one was our favorite one. I appreciated the nutty crust in the bottom layer of the cake, while the filling was soft and bouncy. It is very sweet, however, but overall, I really enjoyed this one and feel like it would go great with a cup of coffee. What made the experience here a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 was the service we got. We weren't greeted when we came in, which, to be fair, is totally fine, maybe they were busy. However, the person helping us stared at us the whole time and did not really communicate well with us. When I tried to order the cakes for my family, they looked bothered that we were there, and I was not sure if they understood what pastries I was ordering because they did not repeat it back to us at all or confirm anything. When I did place the order, they slowly grabbed the plates and looked visually confused, which again, if they wanted to, I could have repeated it back to them. After they gathered everything, they put it in front of us and rang me up. The whole time, they did not say a word to me at all. Did not reconfirm anything, did not acknowledge we were there, did not say thank you. It was a bit strange, and I had to check with my family if it was me or if that was a really weird experience (it wasn't me).

You can opt to sit inside, though there are only a few bar stools by the windows though. Or you can choose to sit outside in the public area, with lots of tables and chairs in the shades. Lots of cute photo ops if you want. I love how clean and cozy the interior is :)! You have the options to order with a staff or order it yourself at the self-ordering station. My sis and I picked the matcha ice cream floating in jasmine tea and a matcha ice cream cone. Our orders came out fast within 2-4 minutes. The Jasmine-matcha float was amazing!!! I never thought Jasmine and matcha could be such a great combination. The only downside was that it was too sweet for my taste. I took a mental note to adjust the sweetness level next time. Overall, it was a nice experience and yes, I'll come back for sure to try other items on the menu.

The vanilla soft serve has the creamy texture but graining and tastes like watery milk with no flavor at all. The drinks are sweet even with 25% sweet level. I got the egg pudding with jasmine tea, drink is fine but the egg pudding is grainy/choppy and was not made well. Another drink was with boba and it's actually agar agar or crystal boba. Service is quick for our order but would not come again.

AMAZING!!! One of my all time favorite dessert places in the bay!!!…read more This particular location is SO cute. And also located in a very adorable shopping/restaurant grid, so the surrounding shops and streets are also so nice to walk around in! I was overwhelmed with the delicious options in flavors for the coconut pudding desserts! From persimmon (my favorite), to durian, to mango sticky rice, to black sesame...oh my god asian flavor galore. My friend and I got several flavors because we couldn't just pick one! We tried: Persimmon Mochi - This was my absolute favorite. The mochi at the top wasn't chewy by any means, but it had such a nice goopy mouth feel that was very different from the tofu-like pudding. The persimmon itself was so fresh and sweet, just simply addicting. I loved it so much I ordered another one to bring home. Durian - If you like durian, you'll like this. While the flavor was delicious and fresh, I wasn't particularly wowed because all the other flavors seemed to have some extra huzzah going for it. The durian one was mainly some mashed durian on top of the coconut pudding, without any pomp and circumstance. Don't get me wrong, still delicious, just a bit more straightforward than I expected. Mango Sticky Rice - LOVED this one!! This was a 3 layer dessert, with mango at the top, coconut pudding in the middle, and purple sticky rice at the bottom. The rice was an excellent chew texture, and the layered spoonfuls were divine! I would definitely get this flavor again!!! Black Sesame - I loved how the black sesame portion on the top was its own texture/consistency! I liked how thick it was, and fragrant. We also ordered the corn latte and the matcha cloud! The corn one was bit too grainy for me, especially towards the latter half, but the matcha cloud was SO good. The matcha was a deep earthy flavor, definitely quality! And the cream at the top was to die for. The interior is so adorable, and very comfortable to sit and catch up with a friend in! The staff is so nice, and I love that with every order, they hand you a cute little paper bag with utensils and napkins already set in it. Everything was just packaged in such a careful and whimsical way. Just such a treasure of a desert spot! There is a 3hr free parking garage only a block away. Various street parking spaces available too, but it gets pretty hard to find a spot since this area is so busy.

It was an unnecessarily unpleasant and dismissive experience. A bit more professionalism and follow-through would go a long way.
