Saint Michael's is a small private school that has done an amazing job of creating a top-tier…read moreacademic education tailored specifically to my child. The school covers pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, and there is an attached preschool. The focus is on academics, and that focus is laid out in the Mission Statement: "...We are committed to academic excellence and the growth of each child in learning, character, and faith." The teachers really make an effort to teach the children and to help the children learn on their own. We love the teachers, and our child is incredibly happy with them and the school. He especially enjoys teaching us French and Spanish, as well as helping us review math concepts. One of the best parts about the school is that, due to the small size, policies can be changed based on parent suggestions. This benefit affects small things like changes to the uniform, and very significant things like whether a child would better learn with an individual lesson plan or by attending a different grade for a specific subject. Another benefit of being a private school is that a significant portion of the current kindergarten class is just barely too young to enter kindergarten in public schools, but is academically and socially ready for kindergarten work. They have a beautiful new multi-use building (including gym). The multi-use building is the site of drop-off and pick-up, so kids that get picked up after 5pm are often playing in the gym during that time. The school also has daily chapel, though children of all faiths are welcome. Full tuition is less than, or in-line with, many of the other private schools in the area, with discounts for prepayment and/or multiple kids from the same family. Significant amounts of financial aid are also available. Between 1995 and 2010, the Head of School position changed eight times, causing a drop in enrollment that has finally reversed with consistency. This drop in enrollment has had negative effects on the school's cash-flow. The current semester (Fall 2011) has seen a flood of negative publicity with the inaccurate message that the school is currently closing. Actually, fundraisers have already raised a significant chunk of the necessary funds for this academic year, and plans are being put in place to restructure the school's finances to prevent this issue from recurring. Saint Michael's is a great school, and we strongly recommend it for parents who are focused on academics and families who could benefit from a small school environment. Disclaimer: I have met several times with members of the school Board, have volunteered my time assisting with a committee looking at the school's finances, and have donated time and money to the school. I am not an employee of the school, nor have I received any sort of compensation from the school.

The headmaster and daycare director do not really care about the children. I have heard such phrases as "trash" and "her mother is a b****" when talking about kids and thier parents. Kids that are sick are not sent home when they should be. Since there are several daycares and schools in B/CS, I suggest you pick one that treats kids and parents with respect.

Every morning when we walk in, my daughter is greeted with so much love from Miss Emily. They even talk about Miss Emily's four cats, which always brings a smile to my daughter's face and makes her feel so comfortable and connected. Throughout the day, Mrs. Chelsie often stops by her classroom to visit, take pictures, and share updates with me, which means so much. As a single mom and a natural worrier, having that consistent communication gives me such peace of mind. I genuinely have no worries when my daughter is at Stepping Stone. They truly treat us like family with daily updates, check-ins, and even phone calls when my daughter misses a day to make sure everything is okay. At Stepping Stone, my child is never forgotten and is always well cared for by every teacher she encounters. Mrs. Melissa has also left a lasting impression on my baby girl. Even after transitioning classrooms, she continues to check in on her, making sure she's doing well and thriving. I am incredibly grateful for the love, care, and dedication shown to my daughter and our family. Stepping Stone School is truly a special place.

If I could give fewer than one star, I would. This review reflects my personal experience as a…read morelongtime parent at this daycare and my opinion after several years of repeated concerns about safety, supervision, and communication. In my experience, supervision has often seemed inconsistent, and I have personally felt uneasy about how safety situations were handled. On one occasion, my child managed to leave the classroom area unnoticed, which was extremely upsetting. While staff responded once they were aware, I was left feeling that better safeguards were needed. During another incident a few years ago, I witnessed a staff disagreement that happened in front of families. It was very uncomfortable and left me questioning how well the administration manages staff and parent communication. In my opinion, classrooms often appear overcrowded and understaffed. I've observed one teacher overseeing a large group of children, and I've heard staff express frustration about not having enough help. Because of this, I've felt that my children weren't receiving the attention or care I would expect, especially given the cost of tuition. My younger child often came home needing a diaper change after long days, which made me concerned about how often he was being checked. Despite bringing this up with leadership multiple times, I didn't notice improvement. On another occasion, he was hurt while playing, and I felt that the follow-up communication could have been handled more carefully. I've also noticed several facility issues -- such as unlocked windows and peeling paint -- that made me uneasy. When I mentioned these to the director, I didn't feel confident that they were promptly addressed. Over the past year, I've been contacted by licensing agencies and have also reached out to the corporate office myself because I felt local leadership was not resolving issues effectively. In my opinion, the facility's priorities seem to focus more on image and parent reviews than on meaningful changes to support children and teachers. I was even asked to post a positive review, which made me uncomfortable given my experience. For a program that is among the most expensive in the area, I expected a safe, nurturing, and well-managed environment. Unfortunately, my personal experience has been the opposite -- disorganized classrooms, inconsistent supervision, and leadership that feels overwhelmed. Parents considering this center should, in my opinion, visit in person, ask questions about safety procedures and staffing, and make an informed decision based on what they see and feel comfortable with. I wish I had done the same much sooner.

She definitely will not have your child's best interest in mind. Majority of reports you will receive from these teachers are incident reports. They will tell you that everyone gets incident reports, however, once they want to get rid of you for what ever reason, they will use all the incident reports you sign against you. Question the reports, ask when the incident happened, where and was it an accident before signing anything. If your child goes to this school, ask questions and pay attention to how well a class is managed. If children are RUNNING in doors, it's a no no...you are guaranteed an incident report of some sort for or against your child. Some children have been scolded in front of other children....if you see this, it's a no no, because this creates social emotional problems. I've had teacher's assistants tell me that they thought about calling me because my child was crying. Why would a teacher feel the need to call a parent out of work because their child is crying? Set up parent teacher meetings, ask for documentation of behavior and if the behavior is news to you, please request to view video because what is said is not always what happens. These people are strangers to your child and your child is a stranger to them, only you will be able to understand your child and his or her behavior. Document the adults your child sees on a daily basis; this is the only way you can get answers should something questionable occur because they will not provide you with adequate information.

I wanted to like this daycare, but unfortunately it did not work out. The caregivers in the infant…read moreroom are very young and seem inexperienced when it comes to taking care of a newborn. My son started at 8 weeks old and when I came to pick him up after the first day, they had only fed him 3 times. THE WHOLE 10 HOUR DAY!!!! From 7:30-5:30, only 3 feedings. They explained to me that he was "very fussy" (probably because he was starving) and sent him out of the room 4 times because they didn't want to deal with him. Very unprofessional, because that is literally what we are paying them for.... for them to take care of him. We paid for the whole month, but my son only went for 6 days. It was worth it to just lose the money because we did not feel comfortable taking him there any longer. I came on my lunch break one day as a surprise and was watching one of the caregivers in his room, she had changed a babies diaper, then proceeded to make a bottle for a different baby and when shaking the formula, she used her finger to cover the nipple. She did not wash her hands after changing the baby, or even wear gloves for that matter. I was disgusted knowing that probably happened to my child as well. These are just some of the many reasons we pulled him out, but I would choose a different daycare if you have other options.
