We decided to take a little trip out to Elkhorn and of course needed to stop by Little Scandinavia. My Swedish heart loves stopping here and seeing things that remind me of my grandma This trip we grabbed some Jellycat stuffed animals and some cute napkins. The selection there is absolutely amazing and staff are always so helpful and kind. Definitely some treasures that are sure to be heirlooms!

I can't believe I've never reviewed Little Scandinavia before! Let's fix that. I've been a customer since this wonderful little shop first opened in 2006. They carry all kinds of Scandinavian goods, and just about all of it is suitable for gifting. They have foods like candy and chocolates, coffee, tea, waffle mixes, jams etc., and cookbooks to go with those. They have a great selection of glassware and ceramics like vases, bowls, coffee cups and tea mugs, and of course tea towels, napkins and napkin holders. There is a Holiday section in the back, and they have various socks, wool sweaters, throws, hats...you name it. What else? Children's books, puzzles, games, skincare, greeting cards, jewelry... I could go on. I love to drop in and see what is new in the store. As a Swede, it's like visiting a slice of home. Amy, the owner, often brings her pups Gloria and Betsy in to brighten everyone's day as well. Absolutely visit Little Scandinavia if you're looking for some unique gift ideas.

This store is connected to the Tannenbaum Christmas Shop. The entrance to the Old Market Sundries…read moreis on South 10th St while the Tannenbaum Christmas Shop's is on Howard St. Old Market Sundries sells cute ornaments, figurines, displays, salt and pepper shakers, magnets, keychains, shot glasses and sports team items (mugs, glasses). It has a limited collection of few t-shirts and sweaters (if you want shirts with funny and cute designs, go to Made in Omaha across the street). This store sells a few souvenir items from Nebraska like magnets, keychains. They also have greeting cards, umbrella, toys like harmonica, and stuffed toys shaped like corn, etc. The lady at the Tannenbaum Christmas Shop answered my questions about the merchandise on Old Market Sundries section. Items are reasonably priced.

One of the cutest little souvenir shops here in Omaha's largest marketplace. The tourist board…read moredirected us over here when we asked for recommendations on where we'd find key chains and other goods to take home. This old shop has it all and then some. We were able to find all the keychains and shot glasses we needed. Not only did they have Omaha/NE branded items, but they also got items from nearby Iowa. If you are planning on driving through Iowa but still want to take a piece home for yourself, then this is a good spot to stock up as well. The day we shopped here turned out to be the cashier's first day. We had a good time chit chatting about our travels on Route 66 and how we had been on the road for what felt like decades. With great service and a nice selection, this is certainly the best one-stop shop that I can think of for anything Omaha related.

This tiny little business is in the gift shop of the Airport Motel 6. I've never seen a gift shop…read morein a Motel 6 before, but there's a little sign when you enter the lobby, and if you call they'll put you through. It's a little dusty; there are some Nebraska souvenirs; some little cookbooks; but really, it's about the jewelry. They have a bunch of turquoise jewelry (Zuni, Nazajo...), a little amber, some abalone, and some silver (watches, rings...) Rings ran small - if you need a pretty turquoise ring for $35 for someone with tiny fingers, you're in luck. Some lovely blue chunky necklaces, several greenish ones, some mosaic pendants, carved birds / bear pieces, an interesting amber pendant or two, turquoise pendants ranging from petite to massive (pendants include a silver chain). Some massive rings that would cover half the length of a finger. Some earrings including tiny abalone studs ($16), and they'll happily apply the coupon from "Shop Lincoln Shop Nebraska" for 15% off jewelry whether you bring it or not: it's posted on the door. Credit card reader was broken when we were there, and the motel's ATM will only let you take out $200, which wouldn't cover some of the larger pieces. Many of the pieces include the name of the artist or at least which tribe, as well as which mine the turquoise is from - they make a big point of supporting Indian artisans. If you're thinking of visiting, come soon - this is a one-woman business. and she's pretty elderly; when we were there a friend of hers was helping out. Shop has apparently been there for 35 years and none of my local family had ever heard of it, so I'm glad I saw the ad. Posted hours state shop opens at 8:30; when I called they said they'd be there til 4:30. Haven't seen anything else like this in Lincoln; if you like turquoise, worth a stop.
