What a cool art installation in such an unassuming part of High Point, near downtown. "Little Sally" is the name of the giant wooden troll sculpture in High Point. It's one of many trolls around the world made out of recycled materials by Danish artist Thomas Dambo. High Point is lucky to have one of these, and it's fun and free to check out. My wife and I took my nieces to see Little Sally. A small line of families with children had built up to see and take pictures with the troll. The troll is hidden from street view, inside a small wooded area, so there's a fun "discovery" aspect to it. We parked in the large unpaved lot at the corner of W Green Dr and W Grimes Ave. Other folks parked closer, across the street in the parking lot of 711 W Grimes Ave. At the time of writing this, the building there appears to be vacant, as does the building in the same block as Little Sally. I'm pretty sure this part of town has seen better days. This project is what you call low-cost urban revitalization. Go to trollmap.com to see a map of all the trolls. Finally got the chance to go visit High Point's new resident troll, Little Sally. We've seen some of Dambo's trolls at other spots, and we're excited to have one in our own back yard now! As an artist myself, I can appreciate the fact that he uses all reclaimed materials like old pallets, scrap wood, fence posts and in this case old furniture legs for her hair, paying homage to High Points history of furniture manufacturing. She really is a great addition to the city, and from online fan pages she seems to be bringing troll hunters from all over, which is hopefully good for local restaurants and shops. Like all of his trolls, Little Sally is a one of a kind, unique and full of so many details,. I'll admit the troll isn't in the best part of town, but we have been several times now, and have never had trouble. I may suggest not going after dark, but it would be hard to see anyway. She's not hard to find, just off Greene street she's nestled back in a small wooded area. There is a parking lot right across from her and another just down the road for busy times. I'm glad so far she is being respected, I know people have commented other trolls are being climbed on and sprayed with graffiti, so here's to hoping High Point is able to take better care of her! read more

**December 2025: Tuesday Mid-Afternoon Visit** I visited the city of Highpoint back in 2019 for a work trip and was surprised that they were a destination for a Thomas Dambo troll. My friend and I have been troll hunting since Summer 2025 and we added Little Sally to our list for our Winter 2025 travels. I didn't realize that she was such a new addition as she was just added in November 2025. She might be my favorite North Carolina troll as she's hidden and if you look closely at her hair -they're made of spindles, which is a nod to High Point's furniture history. I do like that the dirt parking lot is right next to her and that it's flat making it a much more accessible troll hunt. I've done some troll visits and parking is 1/2 a mile away, so this was convenient! On my visit I did not see her Thomas Dambo plaque, but there is a sign that says Little Sally before guests meet her. I visited on a Tuesday and while it was a weekday, she had a pretty steady flow of guests coming to see her. The hunters after us were visiting from New York! Very cool local attraction, from a renowned artist whose work is all over the world. Parking nearby is pretty tight, you may be better off parking somewhere nearby and walking there. Also be careful of traffic when crossing walking alongside the road. Definitely check it out if you're near High Point. read more

I have seen many of the Thomas Dambo trolls and Little Sally is one of my favorites. Visiting her this weekend was incredibly hectic. People were waiting in line for over an hour just to get a photo with her. Other people were risking injury claiming fences and walking on unstable ground to try to cut through the masses. It was a mad house, but Sally was worth it. I was not able to get a photo with her because I was not willing to wait in the line that wrapped all the way around the block and into the parking area but I am thankful for the few moments I had near. I love her unique and intricate hair and the way her staff is completely integrated into the fauna of the location. I love the way she seems to be looking upon all of her visitors with joy and amazement. I am so thankful to this artist for bringing art and wonder into spaces like these that brings so much happiness and carries a message of hope and I can't wait for more of his work. read more

What a pleasant surprise in the middle of the dreary warehouse district of South High Point! This structure is so well crafted and immense it creates its own fantasy story in a very unlikely venue. It shows whimsy in the execution and fired my imagination in an otherwise mundane landscape--not to be missed! read more
