From my experience,…read morebreakfast really stands out--it's fresh, consistent, and served all day, which is such a plus. Lunch and dinner haven't been as enjoyable for me. For example, the dinner special I tried (meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn) didn't come out as I had hoped--the meatloaf was a little dry, the potatoes were on the cooler side, and the corn just didn't taste quite right. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, which was served hot and had good flavor, but the texture of the steak made me wonder if it might have been frozen beforehand. The sides--green beans, rolls, etc.--also seemed like they could use a little more seasoning and warmth to really shine. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the atmosphere and the staff. The place has such a warm, welcoming vibe, and the team is always kind and friendly, even if service can sometimes take a bit longer. If you're visiting, I'd absolutely recommend going for breakfast--it seems to be where this place truly shines.

You can tell they put thought into their recipes, and the portions were generous without sacrificing quality. It's the kind of place that feels comforting the moment your plate hits the table. The restaurant itself was very clean and well kept, which always makes a big difference in the overall experience. The atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed, perfect for a laid back brunch. And whenever we take a drive like that, we make it our mission to find a highly rated local lunch spot. This one was on the way home and looked promising, so in we went. I will say this for Texas. Onion rings are everywhere here, far more than when I lived in California. I will happily take that as a win, because the heat for about nine months of the year is not my jam. Sadly, the onion rings were not listed as one of the many sides (so we couldn't get them as a side with our meal), but we ordered them as an appetizer ($8.99 I think) with blue cheese dressing. I am not a ranch girlie, and I stand by that choice. The blue cheese had huge chunks in it, which makes me think it might be house made (bonus point!). Now, the rings. I am firmly Team "Battered" Onion Ring over Team "Breaded", and these absolutely delivered on the team battered. They were almost chicken-fried, -- super craggly, crispy, and deeply satisfying. These were the star of the meal, so do yourself a favor and order them - but you need a friend to share them with, its a heavy portion. They also have great lunch specials, most around eleven dollars. I got the pot roast with two sides, refried beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. After indulging in the onion rings, I was not exactly starving, so I ended up with enough leftovers for another full meal. The pot roast was nicely shredded and tender, and the gravy was rich, flavorful, and worth every calorie. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, (he's obviously on a diet!), with fried okra and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was forgettable, but everything else on his plate was solid. Service was friendly and efficient, and this place definitely fills up at lunch, so plan accordingly. A very good roadside stop, and proof that sometimes the best meals happen when you are just out running errands.

Food: Chicken fried steak/ Grilled pork chop there were no complaints. Good portions for the cost and definitely seemed fresh. Even the sides were delicious and fresh tasting. The ONLY downside is parking. I didn't subtract stars for it because there is still enough room to get around. But definitely use cation with bigger vehicles and especially trailers.

The service was very good from the time we walked in until we were finished. We had a party of 8 and were seated immediately. Most of us drank water and the glasses were kept full. The waiter was always checking on us without "hovering" over the table. The prices were a little higher than I like ($14-20 a plate) but the portions were very generous and my wife and I could have split a meal. Since COVID these seem to have become a more "normal" price. My grandson, wife and I all ordered the Trece Salsa Burrito. My wife I had the beef and it was really good. Personally I preferred the Chili con Carne sauce. My wife preferred the Sour Cream sauce. My grandson preferred the queso sauce. My granddaughters had the Chimicanga and the enchiladas. They reported they both loved their choices. One said the rice was okay but not as good as she anticipated. She said the beans were too creamy. I agreed the beans were more "blended" than I like. The flavor was very good though. My mother-in-law had the Taco Salad. She was very pleased with the salad. The portion was normal size and was served in a deep fried tortilla shell. Over all we were very pleased with the restaurant and the food. We will probably coming back if we are in Kaufman again.
