Excited to try this place for the first time. Says they're open 11 am-9 pm. Showed up at 3:00 and the doors were locked.

Today's visit was a total fiasco. Service was slow, the queso was watery and the portions were small. I will not be returning to this place.

I don't live locally and forgot to leave my review while I was in town, but making up for it now!…read more Whenever I'm in town, we generally go through a rinse & repeat of the previous spots my friend has taken us previously, mainly because it's a small community with their staple locations, but this time a new option was tossed out, and I love me some Mexican food, so she didn't need to ask me twice. I can generally gauge a Mexican restaurant very quickly by the salsa that hits the table first; that's a great foreshadowing as to how the rest of the food is going to be flavored... and I'm happy to report they have very flavorful salsa and chips. That also translated over to the food and everyone at the table enjoyed everything they had ordered. I love the design and casual inviting ambience of the place and truly just enjoyed hanging out with good company, food and drinks! The staff was wonderful, so polite and inviting and professional, and just a joy to interact with throughout our visit.

I used to go here and order from here all the time but not sure I will anymore. Lotta negativity. Tonight, the waitress we had was absent but then very angry that i had ordered a drink from someone else. It devolved from there. Apparently she had brought me the wrong drink that I ordered from another server when we hadn't seen her in at least 20 mins, scolded me that I shouldn't order from another server, then took my drink away because it was the more expensive version of the margarita that I had ordered. When I asked to order nachos she just said "no" and then asked if I wanted to pay for the more expensive margarita. I said no I didn't and I assume she just threw it down the drain. She was clearly so angry at me that she wouldn't come back to the table. Not my responsibility to be serving tables or get the drink order right. Two nights ago my husband had ordered food to go in advance. They couldn't find the order. He had to wait about 45 mins for it. Bummer!!

Born and raised in New York, then spending two decades in Chicago, I got used to having wonderful…read morefood and restaurants close by. As an Italian American, food has always meant more to me than a good meal. It's how we celebrate, connect, and make people feel at home. So when I moved to a small Southern town, I wondered whether I'd find a restaurant that felt like my kind of place. From the moment I walked into Beaufort Grocery, I knew I had. Over the past four and a half years, they've welcomed us with open arms, greeted us with kisses on the cheek, remembered my drink, surprised me with my favorite dessert on my birthday, and treated us on our anniversary. Those moments mean so much. What I love most is the way the staff cares for one another and extends that same warmth to everyone who walks through the door. The food is spectacular, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the people are truly special. Beaufort Grocery is a little slice of heaven in my Hallmark movie town. I'm so grateful I found it, and even more grateful to call the people there my found family.

Since it's mid-August, we happily chose to wait for a table inside rather than brave the heat. While we waited, we hung out in the bar area. It's small but really cute and inviting, with a ton of fun drink options. I'm pregnant, so I went with one of their mocktails, and it was delicious! The food was absolutely worth the wait. The portions are HUGE, everything was cooked perfectly, and the pricing felt very reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. Seating inside is definitely a little tight, but that's really the only downside we found. Overall, we had a great experience and honestly didn't mind the wait at all. If there's a line when you get there, I'd say stick it out, the brunch is worth it!

This is an unexpectedly great restaurant right at the center of activity in Atlantic Beach. In my…read moreexperience, finding good seafood restaurants in and around Atlantic Beach (even including Morehead City - where there are a dwindling few) can be surprisingly difficult, especially compared to the pelagic bounty of most coastal Carolina towns. Bahia has probably the best food I've had from any of the current crop of Atlantic Beach places. Every dish I've tried so far has been excellent. One in particular needs to be highlighted. The crab dip is possibly the best I've ever eaten, anywhere. You need to try it. Pro tip: Be prepared for the generous amount of butter and oil in and on the food -- it adds to the richness and is definitely a good thing, but you'll want to be careful if you're planning on performing microsurgery or wiping your eyeglasses. There is unobtrusive but good quality live music, which is always a plus (and seems more well-considered than the solo guitar dudes repeatedly playing "Free Fallin" at the neighboring restaurants and bars). The air conditioning indoors does a heroic job of keeping the restaurant a relatively nice temperature, as well.

We were stuffed from all the great food, so we ordered dessert to go: brownie with a marshmallow swirl and a side of vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Tasty! Pain killer Margarita
