Not quite like my mom's Filipino food, but reasonably priced at $20 for two tasty meals of decent portions. The pork belly BBQ was delicious - very fatty with a good balance of sweet and salty; this came with rice and a side of lumpia (6 pieces) - you can substitute rice for pancit for an extra charge if you'd like. The lumpia is the traditional lumpia shanghai version aka ground meat with vegetables - it was crunchy and not overly greasy and came with sweet chili dipping sauce. I was disappointed as other reviewers have noted about the pancit - it was not very seasoned and didn't have as many vegetables (cabbage, carrots, onions etc) that I expected. What a delightful surprise! I was so excited to hear that Little Manila would be coming by MSC UVA, a staple in Cville (and a soon-to-be vendor at the Cville Dairy Market). The owner is friendly, the food is delicious, and the service is quick and efficient. Seeing this truck brings a smile to my face. I ordered pork belly bbq (woww!), which comes with a ton of lumpia (Filipino egg rolls) and a bundle of white rice. The bbq was soft and fatty, covered generously in sauce. The best Filipino food in all of Charlottesville hands down! I actually don't know if there are any other businesses serving filipino food besides this one but Little Manila have been here for years and their friendly service and delicious food have been very consistent. Crunchy lumpia, flavorful pancit and an Asian fusion mix of adobo tacos with mango salsa are to die for! The picture shown below is from their new location at the dairy market called Manila Street and they are just as spectacular as their food truck!! Pro tip: at the dairy market I would arrive 1-2 hrs before they close because they serve kainan style (buffet style). The best food is gone 1-2 hrs before they close also because they are wiped clean out by hungry customers! Right now (7/2021) they close 9pm Sunday through Thursday and Friday Saturday 10pm. This is the single reason I wake up at 11:45am on Saturdays to bring my hungover self to the farmers market. I really just live for their pancit. It's such a simple dish that's a staple to many asian cultures but the Filipino version does it just right. When I'm eating meat I also get their pork belly and lumpia (egg rolls). My boyfriend loves their pork belly and I'm thankful they give a generous amount so I don't mind sharing. I don't even like egg rolls but I always somehow eat all of the six tiny lumpias. So bomb! This dish is the BBQ pork belly plate ($12). It's such a delight to eat. The meat is sweet and savory, with the perfect ratio of fat to tender pork. It comes with some delicious lumpia which is filled with veggies and fried to be crispy on the outside. You can replace the rice with pancit, which is a noodle dish. If you want Filipino food in Charlottesville, there's no better choice. I was commuting home on a Saturday evening when I spotted their food truck, on the corner of Long St. and Rt. 250. In an empty lot, amongst a pack of numerous other offerings from various other food trucks, the lettering read "LITTLE MANILA". I noticed the sheen of the gloss black paint covering the truck flicker from my view, sitting there at the adjacent stoplight, the sun beaming through my windshield as it was setting. Was this meant to be? Hmm... I thought, "well how bad could it be?" and proceeded to pull into the gravel parking lot behind the trucks. I believe they have been limited to just the mobile restaurant for a few months (due to COVID-19) and the friendly cashier that took my order remarked they were only serving 1-2 days per week currently, mainly on weekends. I ordered my chicken BBQ w/ rice and Pancit (out of lumpia ‍, I arrived quite late that day) and it took an entire 2 mins for the cook to prepare, and they sent me on my way. Feeling the weight of the bag they handed me, I realized that I had received a massive amount of food for the crisp $10 bill I exchanged the cashier earlier. I rejoiced immediately at my luck. Somehow I waited until I got home to devour it; the scent emanating from the package, endlessly tempting me during the ride. In hindsight, I was glad I waited until I got home (the food was still piping hot and just as good) because this was an utterly delightful experience. I got to savor and enjoy the flavors that were somewhat familiar, as I had eaten Filipino food prior to this, but none like this. This was delicious from the first bite of chicken, to the last bite of pancit w/ a bit of the red sauce. Outstanding. I was full and completely satisfied with the meal I got, and the folks preparing/serving it were lovely to encounter. 9 out of 10, not would, but WILL do it again. I definitely prefer getting the platter with both meats and with a bed of pancit instead of rice as the textures in my opinion work really well together. The flavors are just yum!! The meats are very succulent and tender; the lumpia has the a good ratio of shell to filling, with a very satisfying crunch when biting into them (even when I don't order the platter, I'll still definitely get the lumpia); and the platter comes with a very generous serving of pancit, which is always a delightful accompaniment. read more

I stopped here with a group of friends on a whim today & we were not disappointed! I never have had Filipino food before, but the smells coming out of the truck were so enticing I knew it was going to be delicious. (The truck is also very clean & seems well maintained.) The gentleman who happened to be working today was super friendly & very helpful with patiently describing each item on the menu & making recommendations. Since it was very cold, he had us wait in our car until our food was ready. In less than 10 minutes, the four of us had our lunch. I ordered a combo #2, which includes the Filipino barbecue, 5 lumpia with chili sauce, atchara, & rice. The pork was lean & perfectly cooked with great flavor, tender enough to cut with a plastic fork. The atchara was awesome & full of fresh ginger. The lumpia were crispy & not greasy at all. There was enough sauce & atchara to add to the rice so no bite was dry or lacking flavor. The portion size was perfect. I really enjoyed this & am eager to try the pancit. The menu is short & simple, so it's not difficult to make a choice you'll be happy with. There is even a combo #3, which includes a full size portion of everything, is under $15, & could easily be shared by two people. This business has an Instagram & a Twitter you can follow to see their specials & extended hours or early closings. I had no idea Charlottesville had Filipino food until a co-worker spotted the truck and told me about it! I finally had the chance to try some today, and I was not disappointed. I got the pancit/lumpia combo and split with my friend who got the barbecue/lumpia combo. Both were delicious! Nice sized portions, reasonable price point, and friendly service! Hours and days of operation are limited, and it's a food truck, so they are at various locations. I would not have thought that there was going to be a Filipino food joint in Charlottesville, but here we are. As a Filipino who grew up with a lot of my people's cuisine, I can say that Little Manila is spot on. They have some of the traditional pancit and lumpia, but also introduce some fusion flavors in their menu with their pork belly and chicken adobo tacos. Very flavorful and decent portions with great prices. It was a bit of a reminder of home that satisfied some of those cravings. read more

They now have a stall within Dairy Market. I absolutely love Filipino food and I am so grateful we can get it here in Cville. I tried the chicken maldoreta (sp?) and BBQ chicken--I preferred the BBQ but both were tasty. The BBQ marinade contains brown sugar, but it wasn't too sweet. They were served on a bed of pancit (stir fried rice noodles). I asked for the stir-fried vegetables to be added (this was a separate dish, presumably for vegetarians, since there wasn't much else for those of that persuasion). I took note that everything seemed to be glistening with a liberal coating of oil--I believe this was done to lock in the moisture of the foods, particularly the vegetables. Everything did taste perfectly fresh, even when it took twenty minutes to get it home to eat. I will be back to try the Adobo next! BTW, if you want very good chicken adobo, try the recipe by Melissa Miranda on Bon Appetit. It is life-changing. read more

I would give more stars if I could. I have an addiction, and I need help. I love the pork belly. Yes, love. Its sweet marinade is a perfect balance with the rice or pansit. The first time I tried Little Manila it was ok, and wasn't sure if I even liked it because of the fattiness of the pork, but then I began to crave it and I haven't looked back. First time I've eaten here and I really enjoyed it! I've had lumpia and pancit many times, made by neighbors and friends from the Phillipines. The portions are huge! I had the pork belly bbq with pancit and it was very good! I think the pancit was some of the best I've had, but it was a bit too salty. The taste though was really really great! The pork belly bbq was fantastic! I liked the lumpia lots but they needed to be a bit crispier, some of mine were real nice and crispy and others were a bit mushy and oily. I find filipino cuisine difficult to find so I was ecstatic when I came across this food truck at the UVA Farmers Market . The food is authentic and super delicious! The portions are also HUGE and despite it probably being able to last two meals...I ate mine all in one sitting. I tried their marinated pork belly which is braised and caramelized (YUM!). I believe the traditional name for the dish is Humba? Whatever the name, it was great! If you're in the mood for something healthy, this is definitely not the dish for you. He loves the Lola (Tagalong for "grandmother") who spins magic with her lumpia, pancit, and other delights. Cheap and delicious food all the time. I'm a big fan of the pork lumpia--so crispy and flavorful! I've also had the pancit before but found it a bit salty for my taste. Good in moderation, but with their larger portion (which is appreciated!) it might be a better to-share kind of dish along with 10 lumpia. I really love and appreciate Little Manila, most especially as a Filipino living in Charlottesville who misses Filipino food a whole lot. What I appreciate about this food truck is how present they are at many of the festivals and farmers markets in the area. I also like their smaller, and more simple menu, because they can focus on making each of their dishes extremely well. During the Saturday farmers market, they usually serve A version of a Filipino breakfast dish called Tocino, which is essentially Filipino bacon over rice. Sometimes they even offer to serve it with a fried egg on top, which is traditional for most Filipino breakfasts. They usually include five pieces of lumpia, which is a fried meat roll, usually pork, served with a sweet chili sauce. When they are serving lunch, they often serve a wide array of meat options, either pork belly or chicken adobo served on a bed of either fried rice or pancit, which is basically lo mein except with skinnier rice noodles (pancit bihon). I would love for them for venture into making some Filipino desserts and beverages in order to fill out their menu. read more
