When he first started coming here around age 2 1/2, he was in pull-ups, but after about three months or so he was fully potty-trained. The staff was very instrumental in his success. The facilities are beyond comparison; honestly, there was no other pre-school in the area that could offer the same resources as the Children's House. When I compared it to Little Red, the cost for 3 days a week was only $5 more, which I was very happy to pay. I can't say enough positive things about the Children's House.

The teachers stick around which is good for the kids and a testament that they're doing something right. They have a lot of holidays when they are closed though, including - inexplicably - New Year's Eve, or if New Year's Eve is over the weekend, then the Friday before New Year's Eve. Most parents will have to work that day, and may be out of annual vacation at that point, so this creates a real hardship. I don't begrudge anyone Christmas or Thanksgiving or Labor Day or Memorial Day or even the Day After Thanksgiving. If my office is closed, I am happy to take care of my kids myself. But the purpose of day care is to take care of my children when I am working. If they're closed when my office is open, then they're not fulfilling their purpose. They're also closed on Christmas Eve (or the Friday before if on a weekend), which is a more legit holiday than New Year's Eve, but another day that I have to work. I usually take vacation that day, so not a particular problem for me, but your situation may differ. And they close early (3 PM) on Good Friday. It's a madhouse that day from 2:45 to 3:10 as every parent in the entire daycare is picking up in that window as opposed to scattered all throughout the afternoon like a typical day.

Expected to work off the clock and expected to work when actively contagious with a fever and a doctor's recommendation to stay home, you still have to come to work. Everyone is always sick. Some of the parents have actually cussed out and yelled at my coworkers because their baby is always sick. As employees we can only do so much. Parents always drop off sick kids because they don't have a plan b for childcare.

I adored the newsletters as well - each month we got an e-mail updating us our on child's class, with pictures of the kids interacting. I also found them one of the more affordable options in the area. The few negatives: they don't have a big play area in the back, and unfortunately they are on a busy street. But, my child was very happy and safe there. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Would re-register my child in a heartbeat if we needed care again.

As I am now a PhD candidate in engineering, I can affirm that my early exposure to engineering classes at Ursuline helped provide a strong foundation for my eventual career path. Mrs. Nunez helped expose me to real-world engineering problems, and took us on field trips to talk to engineers in practice. While one could argue that these skills and experiences could be acquired at any school, I truly think that Ursuline is different in that the faculty encourage young women to pursue STEM and other ambitious career paths, particularly in the face of adversity. Published research shows that young women are vulnerable to dropping out of such career paths and losing interest in STEM if they are not immediately perfect (I.e., get all A's) at it. Ursuline professors went beyond the call of just teaching, but actively mentored and coached us in our chosen disciplines. As a result, myself and many of my fellow classmates have achieved advance degrees and significant accolades in our career paths compared to our friends at other area schools. Beyond the academic portion of Ursuline, I was impressed with the variety of clubs and organizations offered. There are clubs for every interest and students are encouraged to start their own if they feel a need for it. I appreciated Ursuline's commitment to free speech and letting students organize and explore causes, extra curriculars, and experiences that were important to them. For example, during my time there, I was able to found the Ursuline chapter of United for UNIFAT, which provided support for impoverished students in Africa. In sum, I would go back all over again if I had the opportunity. And considering high school can be a tumultuous time for many, I consider that a strong endorsement.

this company has a mini van that drops kids off at the same school i take my kid to. they may want…read moreto look into hiring professional drivers because the ones they use might have just gotten their license. two days in a row and two different drivers both with issues. the school has a drop off lane for single file cars. one day the old lady parked the car and got out and held up the traffic for the rest of us that know how to do a drop off lane. its not a drop off and get out and hold up traffic lane. next day the younger girl w/ black hair hit my side mirror because she tried to skip to the front of the line. maybe someone needs to tell her if she wants to be in the front of the line she needs to plan accordingly and leave earlier. i would never leave my kids to be in a car with either of these horrible drivers. no common sense.
