The staff is friendly and attentive, and they fully engage the kids with a wide rotation of activities. My son loves his teachers and all of the friends that he has made here. When he first started coming here around age 2 1/2, he was in pull-ups, but after about three months or so he was fully potty-trained. The staff was very instrumental in his success. The facilities are beyond comparison; honestly, there was no other pre-school in the area that could offer the same resources as the Children's House. When I compared it to Little Red, the cost for 3 days a week was only $5 more, which I was very happy to pay. I can't say enough positive things about the Children's House.

Turns out this baby girl loves cars, planes, and dinosaurs. Would I have ever thought to get a baby girl those kinds of toys? I don't know, but that's what she loves and they roll with it there!

The teachers stick around which is good for the kids and a testament that they're doing something right. They have a lot of holidays when they are closed though, including - inexplicably - New Year's Eve, or if New Year's Eve is over the weekend, then the Friday before New Year's Eve. Most parents will have to work that day, and may be out of annual vacation at that point, so this creates a real hardship. I don't begrudge anyone Christmas or Thanksgiving or Labor Day or Memorial Day or even the Day After Thanksgiving. If my office is closed, I am happy to take care of my kids myself. But the purpose of day care is to take care of my children when I am working. If they're closed when my office is open, then they're not fulfilling their purpose. They're also closed on Christmas Eve (or the Friday before if on a weekend), which is a more legit holiday than New Year's Eve, but another day that I have to work. I usually take vacation that day, so not a particular problem for me, but your situation may differ. And they close early (3 PM) on Good Friday. It's a madhouse that day from 2:45 to 3:10 as every parent in the entire daycare is picking up in that window as opposed to scattered all throughout the afternoon like a typical day.

As an employee this place has a very high turnover rate. The only people that stay are the elderly…read morethat cannot find work elsewhere. Expected to work off the clock and expected to work when actively contagious with a fever and a doctor's recommendation to stay home, you still have to come to work. Everyone is always sick. Some of the parents have actually cussed out and yelled at my coworkers because their baby is always sick. As employees we can only do so much. Parents always drop off sick kids because they don't have a plan b for childcare.

When we toured the…read morebuilding, we could tell it was a little run down, but the staff seemed positive and they told us she would be in a classroom environment and that the children were separated by age groups. On her first day, when my girlfriend went to pick her up, no one knew where she was. My girlfriend asked to speak to her teacher, and was informed that the teachers leave at 3pm and that from then on, the children are left with school-age teen girls, one of which in another classroom (5 year olds) yelling at a child to "put that down NOW". My girlfriend finally had to go out to the playground to locate our daughter, and found her in the play-structure, with kids that were older than her, not separated by age as we were told, not able to get down, scared and asking for help down. No one on staff knew where her change of clothes or back-pack were. When I left work to go and speak to the owner, he had conveniently just left, even though my girlfriend had spoken with him 20 minutes before then and told him I was on my way down. When I spoke with the director, she told me that "There were a few different stories about what happened." That's not something you want to hear as a parent who just put their child into daycare for the first time and has a first day like that. She tried telling me the "girls" had said that my daughter was on the playground and having a good time. I later learned that the other kids were hitting and kicking her trying to get her to get off the play structure. When we got her home, she started eating all the food in the house that she could find and eating like she hadn't been fed. Later that night, she was so upset and crying that she almost threw up. I know my daughter, and I know when something really bothers her. We were worried about the quality of care she received from this place IN JUST ONE DAY! Parent to parent, I would not waist the time it takes to pick up the phone and call these people. I even came in the day after to speak with the owner and get our money back, and again the owner wasn't there, or at least wouldn't talk to me. After asking some people at work, I found out that the owner has a reputation for ripping people off and not being on the level. Just wanted to share my experience.

I feel the responsibility to explain the experience of my grandchild at this center so that parents…read morecan make an informed decision to use this daycares services or not. This center hires people who, in our opinion, should not be working in child care. One provider consistently screams at children and had to be disciplined, another was physically / emotionally violent even though the director did not feel that was the case. The director has very weak management skills when it comes to employees so the behaviors exhibited by the employee providers was rarely addressed. The director had admitted to characteristically avoiding confrontation. My grandson has a high iq and is very active and can problem solve well, which was a challenge for this daycare. We indicated that we felt some issues we were experiencing was due to suspicions of emotional and physical abuse and asked that if they felt they could not care for my grandson to please tell us so, in order to make alternate arrangements. We were assured they could and within a few weeks my daughter observed what was clearly physical abuse by the employee provider we suspected. We believe this would have been considered abuse by any parent even though the director did not believe what occurred was so. The incident was caught on the centers video where my daughter observed the event but my guess is that by the time Hamilton County Child Services investigated, the tape had been erased. We have not been given any information concerning the investigation of this facility per our request by child services. This is our experience and opinion, nothing more. I hope this helps other parents to make a decision on whether to use this center or not.

Every classroom she has been in has had the most amazing teachers. All very caring and ready to teach the children, not just babysit. The owner and the director are fantastic. The facility is clean, and the staff is very good with the kids AND the parents. We were greeted by name as we came in each day - which really made it welcoming. Any issues/special needs were dealt with in a concerned/caring manner. They are organized - my baby had a crib and a cubbie with her name on it, ready to go when we walked in on our first day. I adored the newsletters as well - each month we got an e-mail updating us our on child's class, with pictures of the kids interacting. I also found them one of the more affordable options in the area. The few negatives: they don't have a big play area in the back, and unfortunately they are on a busy street. But, my child was very happy and safe there. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Would re-register my child in a heartbeat if we needed care again.
