Second day of new school year our child gets hurt. We don't know what happened because no one was watching or knows anything. Could not walk or support own weight. Had to take our child to urgent care where they received an X-ray showing no breaks. We were told it was a possible bruise or sprain. We unenrolled our child. One time is too many for us, because that one time could be fatal!!!
*side note* (facts with a little side of rant)
When we moved to New Windsor we didn't research schools because we didn't have any children. Now that we do, and started the research, the results are not good. New Windsor is actually split into three school districts, Cornwall, Washingtonville, and Newburgh, all based on your address. Feel free to research. There are pros and cons of each (for instance Newburgh district is the lowest rated, yet their state funded pre-k program is for 6 hours while Washingtonville is for 2 hours?!?). We fall into Washingtonville. The ratings of Washingtonville schools are abysmal. Now we 100% understand how important location is and why people settle for possibly smaller or older homes. Especially if it's in a certain school district. Thousands of dollars of property taxes (majority being school taxes) and not much to show for it on the school front. The reason I vote in every election, big or small. Going on 10 years there aren't many reasons I miss New York City. Sadly this is one of them. read more
