It's a single shelf little library but despite that it had almost two books deep for the entire shelf. The only exception was a small space that had a tupperware with dog biscuits in it. What a nice surprise for those who may be walking their dog while stopping to grab or leave a book. This particular library during our visit did have a much larger supply of adult reads. I don't recall any children's books during our visit. That could vary by the time you visit though. My wife left behind a book in exchange for one other book. With fall and Halloween coming up she left a book with series of spooky stories so hopefully that makes someone happy for the upcoming season/holiday. She ended up grabbing the book "Unbound" that appears to be listed as a historical romance novel. Besides that the book that caught my eye (did not take it though) was a memoir of Piper Kerman. Which if that name does not sound familiar it is the woman behind the inspiration for the show Orange Is The New Black. In the end this library was very full for being located where it is at and seemed to have a decent variety. Check it out!

Which is located right next to The Saco Scoop and the park has a bench as well as two tables as well. It looked as though the ice cream shop has an ordering window too so grab some ice cream and find your next read if you stop by. The little library was a little larger than I expected size wise but was quite empty during our visit. They had some children's books as well as books for adults. Like I said it was not much overall available. The only book of note was called "A Court of Mist and Fury" which is a very popular part of a series for those who are fans of fantasy romance novels. My wife was surprised to see this in there considering its popularity. Hopefully if you come across this little library you have better luck finding a new book for your collection to read.

After the rain cleared on this Sunday we hit the road hopeful to find a new book and leave some in hopes others will find them in the future. Like I said this was the first we visited of six total today. This was by far the most well stocked of all we visited. It had two shelves with the bottom being mostly children's/younger reads and the top being more adult books. Despite only two shelves most of the books were two deep with lots of options. They even have a stepping box so the younger folks can reach their bottom shelf. They even had a large variety of younger books including an interactive bubble pop book you'll see in my photos about penguins. On the top shelf they had lots of variety as well including two Harry Potter books, sisterhood of the traveling pants for commonly known titles amongst lessen known books as well. The only downside was it appears from a note left they have experienced vandalizing lately. This particular library has been here since 2013 and I would assume has had many visitors over that time so hopefully those responsible for emptying the library stop. Thankfully during our visit it seemed very well stocked and well maintained. A definite visit for those who enjoy visiting little libraries due to its great variety!

Completely full of paperbacks, I was able to add a few from my own collection as I'm thinning out my library. Thrillers, children's books, self-help, fiction. A good assortment of reading. Either start here and afterwards visit nearby coffee spot Coveside Coffee that conveniently has another free library. So grab that morning beverage before checking out two nearby free libraries. During our recent visit to this particular little free library did not have anything that great at the time. I will say this one does have a little man sitting on the fake house chimney that is a nice decorative touch. This particular day they had a variety of styles of books such as child book, cookbook, mysteries, political, memoir to name a few. Like I said, despite this variety nothing caught me or my wife's eyes. We will continue to check this when we are around the area though!

More precisely it is found on the corner where Maplewood St meets Abbot St. It did not have any signs of being registered as an official little library but was still quite full so people are swapping books here. It is painted a nice dark green and has two shelves to hold the books. The particular day we were at this little library they did not have any books of interest to my wife during our quick stop. They had a small amount of thinner; I assume children's books as well as some comic strip books even. Otherwise they appeared to have some novels in a few example genres such as; romance, memoirs, and a standout for uniqueness to me was a novel featuring Jeff Probst (host of TV show Survivor) as co-author. Like I said no books that caught our eyes this time but maybe next visit that will change.

During our recent stop at this particular one they had a good variety of books by length and genre. A couple of baby books perfect for anyone expecting soon, some books that appeared to be shorter children books. As well as plenty of novels some being bestsellers, with a variety of topics; war/military, romance, to even a memoir of NBA legend Charles Barkley. Quite a wide variety of books which is the perfect thing for these so everyone may find a new book they can enjoy. So, don't forget next time you plan your trip to Coveside Coffee bring a book to swap, it may be someone else's next can't put down read!

If you're a reader and aren't already taking a peek into LFL's when you see one: this is a habit you should start! They're FREE books and there can be some incredible gems in exceptional condition waiting for you (... and also a bunch of random stuff in rough condition that you can tell someone was just purging). Don't forget to give back!: if you've got a book that you're done with and would like to pass it on, instead of leaving it inside the coffee shop for someone to find "at random", add it to the LFL instead!

It is painted pink and white along with a scoop deck sign on it. Also a very unique touch on the side is a play on their menu board of ice cream. They mash up ice cream flavors and popular authors! Some great ones include "Stephen King Cone", "Agatha Crispy", "F. Scott Fudgeripple", and "Ernest Milkyway". It's the perfect touch and great way to combine the fact the ice cream shop operates it and a nod to popular authors. I assume due to being a large tourist stop located right off Route 1 it often changes what books are available with frequent swapping. Neither my wife or I noticed anything of interest today. It appeared to all be older and worn out books on top shelf and the bottom shelf lacked many books at all. Maybe next visit will have a better selection. Come for the ice cream and while here leave a book and take a book.

Another little library that is nestled in a perfect spot in Westbrook. This library stands out with…read moreits color combination of the purple and green. Also due to its location there are often many people walking around so plenty of opportunities to have books swapped frequently so could always find a new book that interests you. They do one thing that I don't see too often in little libraries, and that is one shelf dedicated for children's books and top shelf is adult only books. This is such a smart idea to make it so your kids can have easier access to finding their next book without sorting through books not for them too. They had a good variety of books meant for a variety of ages/reading levels. My wife and I did not find any books we decided to grab during our visit but we frequently go past here so maybe in the future we will find something. Actually during our visit the bottom shelf was more stocked than the top. Along with the adult books up top they also had a selection of bookmarks which is another great touch. Another great opportunity for the community to share and swap their books with one another!

Yet another little library for those looking to leave a book and take a book to share a vast amount…read moreof books. This one is located on Elmwood St that is a small side road that connects Forest Ave and Stevens Ave in Portland located close to the University of New England Portland Campus. I will say during our stop to check it out it appeared very full. Maybe it does have something to do with the fact the campus is so close and many students are aware this is nearby. Even to start compared to many little libraries this one has significantly more space with three shelves available compared to the typical two. A variety of genres and book types were present including some kid/baby books including a first 100 words book. For a little older I even noticed a kids graphic novel titled "Pizza & Taco: Who's the Best?" Besides that I also spotted a cookbook, thrillers, mysteries, romance, and more. Although I mentioned some books for younger readers it did definitely have a higher amount of adult books. Worth visiting to hopefully find a book that captures your intention and worth your time reading since it has a large selection.

Another closely located little library with another nearby as well so we decided why not check them…read moreout since we were already out and about. This little library does have a number like many of them but also is rightfully named A Book With a View. It is located close to Bumbleroot Farm and even closer has some flowers planted around it. Worth stopping at to check the book selection and take in some nature views. As you can tell from the photos it is a red colored library with a white door. Despite not finding any books that piqued either my wife's or my interest we did leave one and hope someone enjoys it as their next book. On this particular day they had some genres including religious, encyclopedias, autobiography, Holocaust survivor book, & mystery to name a few. Like I said did not find anything we cared to grab but enjoyed the nearby view and would continue checking it out every once in a while. Your best plan to visit this particular one would be planning on a Saturday and checking out the Bumbleroot Farm before or after!

The road isn't very wide but there can't possibly be enough traffic here for that to be a problem. The single door is secured by a sliding latch and inside are two short shelves well stocked with books. Today's selection was lots of childrens' books on their sides with a couple of thrillers and comedy in there. This is charter number 138138 and unlike many LFL's, it has a name, "A Book With A View" and a caption: :This Little Free Library sits on a parcel of land owned and lovingly maintained by Tom and Shelby Driscoll. The Library was built by Tom in the fall of 2021 and became the perfect addition to the flower gardens that adorn the spot where a (Weeks family) farmhouse once stood.
