The school did an amazing job of preparing them for College and for life and adapting for each of their goals. Their focus on critical thinking and excellent writing and presentation skills has served our children well. My daughter went on to get an MD/PhD at Duke and her final training in the Harvard system. My youngest son has held increasingly important roles in a major renewable energy company and my oldest son is an artist and LSW. I mention their trajectories to counter comments that this school doesn't prepare students for the real world. It was a sacrifice for our family to afford but so worth the investment. They are all happy and fulfilled.

Coming in as a Junior I was given no accommodation for the introductory classes freshman are required to take such as the "intro to art". For someone on a clear path toward Engineering College and as a junior at a new school, being forced to take an art course with a bunch of freshmen all year (while knowing not a single person in my actual grade) was the breaking point for me when it came to Waynflete. The intensity of the classes is low relatively and easy to breeze through, with the school more worried about being inclusive and making everything a "safe place" rather than having actual scholarly rigidity. The lack of AP classes is despicable for a "college prep" school that costs upwards of 20k a year. Because of Waynflete, I did not feel prepared for college in the math and sciences, unlike my peers who had intensive preparatory high schools classes with AP's. Waste of my parent's money. Actual past-student here, not a doting parent.

Ritual Art of Wellness offers lots of yoga classes (prenatal yoga, postnatal yoga, and yoga with babies and kids), reiki, women's health physical therapy, counseling for individuals and couples, childbirth education, massage, and more! So far, I've attended a Tea + Tummytime class with Jackie (Tuesdays @ 11am) and the Feeding Circle with Brooke (Thursdays at 9:30am). Both are FREE community classes, you just sign up beforehand on their website. I plan on checking out the baby yoga classes as well. Both classes I attended were great - it's a very open and welcoming environment and a great place to meet other moms in the area. I'm so excited to be a part of this community and watch it grow!

The location is very accessible to 302, but secluded back away from traffic. The kids especially love the large outdoor play areas. As healthcare workers who work varying schedules including holidays, it has been such a relief to find someone with minimal holidays, rarely closes for snow, and who will be able to provide a care option for the random days that school is closed now that our oldest will be starting Kindergarten. We truly don't know how we would have made it through the ongoing pandemic without the love and consistency they provided for our kids, allowing both parents to continue working where we were needed. The staff here have made us feel like family, and we can't thank them enough.

The staff here is nothing short of remarkable. Within days of starting the teacher reached out to us simply because she wanted to meet and learn more about our son and his family! This meant so much to me and my husband. As we all know, kids do not come with a manuals; nor did many of us attend school to become great parents and; yes, some days do seem so much more challenging than others. When "those days" happen and the staff reaches out and gently offers advice or words of encouragement - I welcome it wholeheartedly - After all, these are people who spend most of our childrens waking hours with them. I want to say "Thank you" to Todd and the amazing staff for your passion and dedication to teaching our children !

Evelyn is an exceptional art instructor and an incredibly talented artist. I had the opportunity to…read moresee the impact of her work firsthand when she taught art to residents at our correctional facility, and I cannot say enough about the skill, patience, and humanity she brought into that environment. Teaching art in a correctional setting requires much more than artistic ability. It takes adaptability, patience, strong communication skills, and the ability to connect with people from very different backgrounds. Evelyn possesses all of those qualities. She created an atmosphere where residents could learn, experiment, express themselves, and experience the genuine sense of accomplishment that comes from creating something of their own. As an artist, Evelyn is remarkably talented and knowledgeable about her craft. As an instructor, she has the equally important ability to share that talent with others in a way that is approachable, encouraging, and respectful. She meets people where they are and helps them discover abilities they may not have realized they possessed. Programs like Evelyn's demonstrate the value of art in correctional environments. Art provides an opportunity for creativity, reflection, patience, and positive human connection. Evelyn understood that and brought those qualities into every interaction. I would enthusiastically recommend Evelyn as both an artist and an instructor. She is skilled, creative, compassionate, and genuinely gifted at helping others experience the value and joy of making art.

My family has had a wonderful experience at Roots N Shoots! The thought, knowledge and dedication…read moreLynn has for this school is immediately apparent when walking in the door. Everything is very well thought out and executed from the beautiful physical space she has set up inside and outside her home, the art projects the kids do, the monthly learning themes (ocean, farm, weather, etc), the guest teachers she brings in (art, yoga, etc) and the field trips they go on. One of my favorite things about Roots N Shoots is the emphasis on outdoor play and connecting with our regional natural world. The hours are also great (9-3) - really allows me to get things done and for my son to be fully immersed in the day. Plus we have met really fantastic families through Roots N Shoots. We couldn't have been more pleased from the minute we walked in the door, and from our first experience with Lynn. Clearly dedicated to the early childhood experience of play and exploration as the path to authentic learning, Lynn's connection to children and her ability to create a beautiful, welcoming, engaging environment for them is beyond compare. Playing and learning in the woods, backyards and gardens; exploring the neighborhood; creating art; doing yoga; putting on performances - the kids at Roots n Shoots have the luckiest, most appropriate preschool experience I can imagine. Not only our child, but we ourselves, have made lifelong friends in the other Roots n Shoots families. I'm so happy that this is our daughter's (and hopefully, in a couple years, our son's) first experience with how wonderful school can be.
