Yet another little library for those looking to leave a book and take a book to share a vast amount…read moreof books. This one is located on Elmwood St that is a small side road that connects Forest Ave and Stevens Ave in Portland located close to the University of New England Portland Campus. I will say during our stop to check it out it appeared very full. Maybe it does have something to do with the fact the campus is so close and many students are aware this is nearby. Even to start compared to many little libraries this one has significantly more space with three shelves available compared to the typical two. A variety of genres and book types were present including some kid/baby books including a first 100 words book. For a little older I even noticed a kids graphic novel titled "Pizza & Taco: Who's the Best?" Besides that I also spotted a cookbook, thrillers, mysteries, romance, and more. Although I mentioned some books for younger readers it did definitely have a higher amount of adult books. Worth visiting to hopefully find a book that captures your intention and worth your time reading since it has a large selection.

This is the second of recently created little libraries to pop up on Forest Ave. You can find it…read morelocated across from Farnham St. and currently it is unpainted. The post that supports this little library is in a planter and I suspect will have plants growing around it next year. This is in a good spot I believe that should see a good amount of foot traffic and also has enough space for a vehicle to pull over and check it out. Neither my wife or I cared for grabbing any books today during our stop. They had a decent amount of kids/younger audience reads available. Some people also have seemed to have left some DVDs and a CD as well. The most notable title I saw was, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". Currently rating this one at three stars due to lack of a great variety currently, hopefully it'll improve over time. Another little library to check out frequently to see how much the offerings change!

This particular one was called Ollie's Book Nook and is run by someone who has always enjoyed these libraries and their son gifted them one for Mother's Day. They were thinking of the quote "when life gives you lemons" and created a theme for the library related to this. All over the little library you'll find little paintings of lemons and limes, nice little touch. It's located on a small side road with I suspect minimal traffic (during our visit it was true) allowing for safety if pulling over to visit. Definitely on the smaller side of these with only one shelf. Despite this during our visit it was quite full to the standards of what it can hold in terms of size. Some books for the younger crowd as well as some for older readers. Some included the classic by Dr. Seuss "Hop on Pop", as well as "A Boy Called Bat". The book that caught my attention the most was "Merle's Door" due to the cover having a dog in the mountains. We did leave it behind still though. It had a great theme with artwork to accompany it. Decent variety considering its small size but did not see any books we needed to read, but look forward to revisiting.

This particular little library is located on River Road at the Unity of Greater Portland church at…read morethe end of their parking lot. Also of mention next to it is a clothes donation box as well. So multiple potential ways to give to people, through reading or clothes. We drive by here quite frequently and during our recent visit I was actually shocked by how many books were inside. It has two shelves and the bottom shelf was actually filled with two rows. Naturally due to the vicinity of the church it does have a significant amount of religious themed books so great for those who are interested in that topic. It did seem to be a variety of religions though as it even had two copies of a children's book titled "My First Menorah". Besides those it still seemed to be a large variety of genres which is great, gives everyone a chance to find their favorite next read. To name a few, they had some self-help guide book for couples, war novels, Disney and other children's books as well as a thriller my wife grabbed. It's from the acclaimed author of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" with the title being "The Girl Who Played with Fire". Also most notable in a unique/odd sense was it appears someone left a DVD of a pilates workout. Certainly my first time seeing that in any of the little libraries. So readers (or fans of Pilates...) go out and leave a book and/or take a book (or DVD...) and enjoy your next read (or workout...)!

Our daughter started at FKO as a toddler and is leaving as a confident, capable, and responsible little girl. She has had so many wonderful experiences and opportunities during her time there, and we are incredibly grateful for all that FKO has given her. We always felt confident that she was safe, cared for, and having fun while she was there. I truly can't say enough wonderful things about FKO. We love them and will always be so grateful for the role they played in our daughter's early years!
