First, the house dressing is outstanding. I will go in just for this. Then, I tried the chicken and honey-mustard pizza. Sounded interesting but wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. All I have to write is, "wow!" I will 100% be back for this again and again. My new favorite pizza. I could tell the crust and ingredients were fresh. My favorite and only Italian restaurant now. I found the best so no need to look further.

Our server quickly took our order and advised us about the water in Kings Mountain and ask if we were aware of how it tasted (which had forgotten about) so I was glad that the server reminded us of that & offered bottled water. I ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo senior portion, which was way more than enough for me. My aunt ordered a chef salad. As we were eating this delicious food, about halfway through our meal, my aunt pulled what looked like a short hair from her salad. She immediately threw it into the floor. She said that it looked like it had came from one of the cooks beard. Needless to say, we were both finished at that moment and could not eat anything else. Now I lose hair frequently and even when I'm eating my meal, I put my hair up. The food was great except for this one hiccup guys. If you have a beard, please put on a hair net. Everything was great except for this.

Last week, I found myself in western North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte, for a running event…read morein Gastonia. That said, my hotel and dining radius leaned more toward Kings Mountain, NC, so that's where this story actually takes place. I arrived a bit early, checked into the hotel, swung by the venue to grab my packet, chatted with a few fellow runners, and then the most important question of the evening came up. Where are we eating? After a little web surfing, I landed on a spot called 238 Cherokee Grill. It was conveniently located near both the venue and the hotel, which immediately put it in the lead. My friend Jeff and I pointed ourselves in that direction. It was a Friday night, and the place was buzzing. We were told there would be about a 10-minute wait for a table. That slowly stretched into more like 15 to 20 minutes, but when two seats opened up at the bar, we made a quick executive decision and grabbed them. The bartender checked in fairly quickly, despite being clearly slammed. Once we had their attention, we ordered right away to keep things moving. I went with the classic burger, upgraded with lettuce, mushrooms, grilled onions, and a side of fries, ordered medium. Jeff went with the Smothered Chicken. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything hit the bar hot. The burger leaned a little more medium-rare than medium, which honestly worked in my favor. Good flavor, solid burger. The fries were hot and crispy, exactly how I wanted them after a day of travel and packet pickup. No complaints from either of us. Portions were solid, and the prices felt fair for what you get. The only real downside was that initial wait. There isn't much of an entryway to hang out in, and with the cold weather outside, that part wasn't exactly comfortable. That said, the staff was friendly, the service was solid, and the overall experience was a win. Would I go back if I'm in the area again? Yep. The menu had a few other things that caught my eye, and I'd happily give them a shot next time.

I ordered the vegetable quesadilla which came out very hot and was plentiful. The server was attentive, and the food came out very quickly, even though there were several guests there. There was a separate bar area that was not noisy and TVs were around the restaurant. We'll definitely go back if we are in the area again.

Re-Review of Dino's Italian Pizzeria…read more We've dined at Dino's a total of five times now because it's always been one of our favorite Italian spots in the area. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was a bit of a letdown. I ordered my usual favorite--the Chicken Piccata--while my husband had a sandwich and my mother chose the Alfredo Lasagna. We also started with the bruschetta and breadsticks, which were just as tasty as always. However, when the entrées arrived, my Chicken Piccata didn't look or taste like it normally does. (To be fair, I accidentally forgot to request linguine instead of spaghetti, which is how I usually enjoy it.) I still gave it a shot and ate about three pieces of chicken and a few bites of the pasta. Sadly, it was drier than usual and lacked the flavor I've come to expect from the dish. I mentioned this to our server, who brought over who I believed to be the manager--turned out to be Dino's wife. She listened to my feedback and said Dino wouldn't be happy to hear it wasn't up to par, which I understood. I also explained that I'm legally blind, but what I lack in sight, I make up for in taste. I know good food--and I also cook myself. What left a sour taste in my mouth was feeling like I had to repeatedly apologize and defend myself. I even showed her a photo I took of the Chicken Piccata from a previous visit--the same one featured right here on Yelp--only to be told it wasn't the same dish. A customer should not have to keep apologizing for giving respectful feedback, especially when they're offering proof and speaking from genuine experience. She ultimately told me she charged me $10 for the dish since I'd eaten "half," which I didn't--but I didn't argue, because I respect the work that goes into cooking. I had also asked our server if I could get the senior portion since I knew it'd be too much food. I ended up receiving the full-size order, and didn't realize they had a Veal Piccata special that day priced at around $26.99--possibly what I would've been charged. That said, my mother's Alfredo Lasagna was delicious--no complaints there--and my husband enjoyed his sandwich. The cheesecake was also excellent, as always. I told Dino's wife that I hoped this was just an off day, and to be fair, the restaurant was very busy during our visit. Our server was okay--nothing particularly memorable--but perhaps she was just having a rough day too. If you've read my reviews before, you know I'm honest. I don't make things up, and I'm not here to tear down good businesses--I simply believe in fair, respectful feedback. Hopefully, next time will be back to the great experience we've known in the past.
