What a lovely place! The star of the show was the pizza though, we got the Milky Way pizza and it was an absolute delight. The crust was perfect and tasted great even the next morning :) Please stop by at this place if you are in Taos, the hosts are lovely and seemed like they knew a lot of the locals and were very attentive and considerate of everyone.

Not long after that, several more parties arrived, and the restaurant quickly filled up with what appeared to be a dinner rush. We understand that things can get busy, and we were patient as we waited for our food. However, it ultimately took an hour and a half for our meal to arrive. What stood out the most, though, was the behavior of the male host as new customers continued to walk in. My family and I were genuinely surprised by how unwelcoming he was. He never smiled, showed very little warmth, and seemed almost irritated by the arrival of additional customers. He repeatedly told people they would have to wait an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes, and the way he delivered the message made it feel as though he was trying to discourage them from staying rather than welcoming their business. We understand that long wait times are sometimes unavoidable during a busy dinner rush, but there is a difference between communicating a wait time and making customers feel like an inconvenience. A friendly attitude and a little courtesy go a long way, especially for someone who is the first point of contact for the restaurant. When our food finally arrived, it was good, but honestly, it wasn't good enough to make up for the hour-and-a-half wait and the unwelcoming experience at the door. Unfortunately, the host's attitude left a lasting impression and took away from what could have been an enjoyable family dinner.

Another great meal at Boxcar, again with the Santa Fe Foodies. All nine of us enjoyed the meals. We…read morewent for Taco Tuesday; you can get $2 beef tacos, which many members did and said were very good. However, I decided to go with an appetizer I've never tried, the Bang Bang Shrimp, which was dynamite! You get four very large, crispy shrimp in a sweet-and-spicy sauce, though I didn't find it spicy, if that's a concern for some. The sauce was very tasty; the shrimp had great flavor, were plump and tender, and they were indeed crispy. This went very well with the arugula under the shrimp. I'd order this again in a second. I then had two tacos à la carte: Baja Fish beer-battered cod and Carnitas. Both were very large and excellent. The pork on the Carnitas was indeed crispy as it should be, and the cod was perfectly fried and delicious. My wife had the Asian Tuna Noodle Crunch Bowl: seared tuna, lo mein noodles. The dressing was superb; the Tuna was perfectly seared raw, and all the items that came with the salad (mango, red cabbage, daikon radish sprouts, kale crunch, edamame, cilantro, peanuts, toasted sesame) made for a lovely and delicious meal. Our server, Tony, did a fantastic job of keeping us all happy. My only 'complaint' was that Boxcar doesn't serve their amazing Brussels sprouts, or at least not all the time. Not on the menu. I told Tony and the manager how much I love them and was told it may come back as a special from time to time. Man, the Boxcar Brussels sprouts are amazing! Boxcar has very, very good food, and I would usually avoid what appears to be a 'sports bar,' but James Beard Foundation-recognized Chef Eric Stumpf will please the foodies every time. What is nice is that Boxcar has several seating areas, so if you're into food and not the 'bar scene,' they can seat you in an area that is quiet.

Also the bacon was sticking out. Have to pay for ranch dressing, was told after the food was served. Waited for the dressing to come and the Orion rings got cold. Wasn't that busy but still took a while for the food to arrive. Out of tacos for Taco Tuesday by 10 pm, but they still offer the tacos at the regular price. After I asked for the check, the waiter offered drinks from the happy hour menu, dessert and asked me if I wanted to place an order of vegetable "something healthy" for the next day? First time that I been offer that. Would not go back again.

When we pass through Santa Fe, NM a stop at Rowley Farmhouse…read moreAles is a must. The patio is a delight. So spacious and lots of seating to choose from. This time we sat inside at the bar. Boy, am I glad we did. We had the great pleasure to have Clarisa C serve us. What a delight! Very knowledgeable with what's on tap. We tried a few samples and I decided on Fields of Rye and hubby had Slice of Hefen. Both paired well with our meal, Green Chili Tuna melt and Southwest Cobb Salad. Clarisa was kind and patiently listened to hubby s list of Dad Jokes. I sure hope she's there when we pass through again. You're the best Clarisa!

We went and saw Joe Samba, The Movement, and Pepper at the Bridge/Santa Fe Brewing and hit RFA beforehand. I forgot about this review but didn't want to skip reviewing RFA! They have since announced that they are changing locations and the new location promises to be better all around!) Have wanted to try RFA and sample some of their offerings. They didn't disappoint. RFA is SERIOUS about their craft. A tremendous amount of RFA as well as other regional brews to try. They curate their beer menu much similar to a fine restaurant puts together their wine cellars. Crazy that a brewery this small offers so many options! We were told their food was also very good, so we ordered the recommended green chile burgers w/ fries, a tuna salad sandwich and a Greek quesadilla. All were phenomenal! Service was very good. Their tiny taproom didn't have an available table so we sat on the patio. It was a tad hot but we enjoyed the vibe for sure. We tried Every Brewery Has A Paul, Stalker, and Fields of Rye farmhouse ales, and some Hyside Nordic Blonde ales. All traditional farmhouse style.

In fact we enjoyed the different wings that we ordered. Were they the best wings....no....were they the worst...no. We tried traditional curry wings, mango and then a very spicy wing dish. If you want great wings I will say that the following places are those that I would go to for great wings. - Rock and Brews (probably the only worthwhile item on the menu) - Jinja (Dragon's Breath Wings) - Outback I am sure I am missing a few places for the list.....

We ended up sitting down at the bar while we waited for the food and just ordered one round and had to flag down a manager to pay our tab because the bartender was completely overran. Of course they screwed up the food order as well. Big disappointment from beginning to end. Should've known better.
