Ironically, my BARDAR has gone off numerous times while driving past the very strip mall in which this bar is located. It's a strip mall that screams that it has a bar in it, yet there isn't one to be found... ...unless you look in the back. But why would you? From Oak it looks like a standard one-story strip mall with nothing behind it. But it turns out there's a sharp drop in the hill and there is indeed a lower level around back. Lost Bar is a small, dark, smokey dive -- exactly what you'd expect such a well-hidden place to be. There's pool tables, games, and a small stage. There seems to be a well-knit group of regulars. Our bartender was very friendly and pleasant. Beer was poured cold and at just the right price: cheap! I really enjoyed my visit here and will be back.

The "Smoking Permitted" sign on the door wasn't just for decoration--you could smell the nostalgia in the air, complete with ashtrays on the tables. Classic. We grabbed a spot at the bar, where March Madness was on TV and the drinks were ridiculously cheap. Mixed drinks were never more than $5.50, beers were ice-cold, and the bartender was an absolute pro at keeping them coming. If we didn't have more places to check out, we might have just stayed put all afternoon. Of course, we came back later that night and grabbed a table. 80s music was blasting from the jukebox, the drinks were still flowing, and the crowd was lively. It's got that small-town Cheers feel--locals walk in, and their drinks are ready before they even say a word. But even as newcomers, we felt totally at home, swapping stories and laughing with the regulars. The building has also played host to a casino, The famous jazz bar The Antlers Club and most recently a fetish club. The large space has now been transformed into a well curated piece of history with lots of art and artifacts to admire, an area for live music, 2 ping-pong tables centrally placed, a cool old safe, several small tables and lounging areas, and a cool old 1950's era long bar and stools and a beautiful tile floor. Dad's is almost invisible from the main road (State Ave) so you really have to be looking for it to find it.

Our crew ranged, literally, from 6 years old to 60, and everyone had a really great time. The vibe is casual, with games that kept the younger kids occupied, and the environment allowed the adults to converse and catch up.
