Tuscaloosa branch: I asked for a copy of the insurance and the insurance certificate they gave me…read morehad a different name on it. I then asked to see if they work with an electrician and if so, could they provide the electricians license at that point they just basically canceled my appointment poor business practices..

Called and scheduled to have 65" tv installed and soundbar sound system (soundbar, two subs, and…read moretwo rear speakers). Tv/soundbar was to be mounted in a very tight space which is why I called the "pros". I explained I had brackets to mount rear speakers, tv mount, and all hdmi cables for tv. Sound system is wireless so you plug in all 5 components and, in my case, mount the rear speakers on the wall. I was scheduled a week out and quoted on the phone $200 with the caveat that it might go up some if anything extra was needdd. Also, there was a non-refundable $49 to come out that would go toward the final bill. The service tech arrived on-time and there was great communication leading up to arrival. To my surprise it was just one person to install a 65" tv. Upon surveying the job (all components still in original packaging and the space to be installed) the tech immediately says it will not fit. I told him I explained on the phone it would be a tight fit but if the dimensions on the website were correct it would fit. He proceeds with unboxing the soundbar surround system (3 boxes). He said he had never heard of the system I had purchased. He was familiar with manufacturer but said they did not carry them in their store. Keep in kind this was a very expensive top of the line system I had purchased. He made me feel like I had purchased something substandard to what they offer (though I knew I hadnt). After unboxing the final box containing the rear speakers and commenting on how cool the craftsmanship was he asked if I didnt mind telling him how much I paid for the system (to which I did, he can now tell it was expensive and he is going to look it up later anyway). He then says that I was quoted on a "tv and a couple of speakers" and that this was more and that it was going to be "a few hundred dollars". Now I expected the price would go up some per the conversation and was still willing to do this at ~$300. That said its still an extremely simple install of surround system considering its all wireless just needing two rear speakers mounted on the wall. That said, I was ok paying more to make sure it was calibrated correctly though he said it should be good out of the box and that I still might need to contact manufacturer for fine tuning. He now moves to unboxing the tv. Once unboxed he immediately measures the tv and soundbar height and goes over to measure the space to be installed. As he measures this spaces he says "womp womp womp.. it wont fit". He said the tv/soundbar was 37.5" and showed me the space was 1/16l" under that. I was surprised and told him that I knew it was a tight fit with only .5 to 1" room for play and said I must have measured something wrong. We then go over other less ideal options and develop a plan (where I will need to remove a shelf at a later date to accomplish what I want) that requires a different mounting bracket. He quotes me $250 for this mounting bracket which sounded very pricey. Now he tabulates a final estimate on his handheld and quotes me $900. Wow! I questioned how got to that numbers. He showed me that the original $200 was simply to mount the tv to the wall. $300 extra for the soundbar surround system (again mounting two wireless speakers and calibration). $250 for tv bracket (I later found a very highly rated and robust one that pulls out 22" and accommodates up to a 90" tv for $105). Lastly he wanted to charge me $90 to pass the hdmi cables through the wall where the holes already existed. Feeling misled and having to compromise and settle for a less ideal placement of my tv. I express that and he rudely says that this is what it is and that they are in high demand and a luxury installation outfit. So I fired back that it was unreasonable to be so far off on the quote, and alluded to how the price started going up once I told him what I paid for the soundbar system, that I expected a "luxury" outfit to know the top of the line system, and he had me hostage with the downpayment. He angrily said he would refund me (he did), shook my hand, and stormed out of my house. I ended up doing it myself (wife helped hang tv). The tv and soundbar fit (womp womp) with 1/4" above/below tv. Yep he either doesnt know how to use a tape measure or lied about the measurement so he could take the easy way.
