My appointment with Hibiki started with a gentle hair wash before I was brought a small cup of tea and some konpeito to snack on as I showed him the album of reference photos on my phone. We were able to make some pleasant small talk even with the English-Japanese language barrier, and Hibiki was very attentive to making sure my hair was cut and styled in a flattering way that added volume! (I had let him know I struggled with my hair sitting flat) I would definitely come back!! For anyone looking to book here that doesn't speak Japanese, I would advise you make sure you have clear reference photos of the type of cut you want--preferably from multiple angles. I prefer to keep it long and low maintenance since I don't style it often and wear it natural. I asked for a blunt cut with a little bit of face framing, no layers, and I wanted it to look thicker without adding layers since layers always thin out my hair. Additionally, I specifically wanted an Asian hairstylist who really understood my Filipino hair and I'm so glad I found Aki. She understood exactly what I wanted immediately after telling her and showing her a couple of photos of girls who had the same texture, thickness, and type of hair as I have. I really appreciate that she didn't wash my hair before the haircut. I prefer dry haircuts because it's easier for both the hairstylist and me to see how my hair will look in its natural, every day state since I don't style my hair often and wear it down most of the time. She did a dry haircut and intercutting so I left with the exact haircut I wanted -- low maintenance, trimmed off about three inches, blunt cut with a touch of face framing pieces, and it looks SO much healthier and thicker without adding layers that would have thinned out my hair even more!! It looks so nice in its natural state just the way it is. She really took her time and was very precise. I was out in just under an hour! On top of this, I appreciate that the entire time I was there, she did not try to upsell me on any products, and she understood that my natural hair is nice the way it is and only needs a cut maybe once a year, which is usually what I end up doing. Ben is seriously the best. He's so nice, accommodating, and really pays attention to detail. I felt terrible because I know that required more time and work than what I scheduled, but Ben was so understanding and still accommodated me. Even with the extra work, he was SO quick and efficient and managed to get everything done within 5 hours without sacrificing the quality at all. My balayage came out absolutely beautiful! What impresses me the most is how healthy my hair feels. I've been blonde before going to Ben, and my hair was always dry and unhealthy from the bleach. Since going to him, it's completely different.
