I explained his situation and asked if he could be seen at this office. OVER THE PHONE, I WAS TOLD, "YES, WE CAN." The reason why we did this emergency visit was because my son was scheduled next week with his doctor but he was sensitive to it this whole day. When we arrived, we AGAIN explained that he is autistic and nonverbal, and we were told that he could be seen. We went through the exam for ONLY his two front teeth and then waited ABOUT 15-20 minutes in the room for the doctor. Only AFTER all of that, Dr. Manon Bersier comes in and says, "Awww, we can't service him because we don't have straps. Is it hurting?" I explained that YES, it is bothering him and that because he is autistic and sensitive to things like this, he was clearly distressed. She then asked AGAIN, "But does it hurt?" MY SON IS NONVERBAL. He cannot verbally tell you, "Yes, my tooth hurts." He was crying, visibly uncomfortable, and showing signs that he was in pain. Those are the signs I have to rely on as his mother to understand what he is communicating. After all of this, we were told that they could not treat him and were essentially denied service -- BUT THEY STILL TOOK THE $79 CHARGE. So let me understand this: I called ahead, explained his disability and his needs, was told that YES, he could be seen, brought him in, explained it AGAIN when we arrived, waited, had him examined, and THEN we were told that his autism was the very reason you could not provide the service? WHY WAS THIS NOT EXPLAINED TO ME WHEN I CALLED? This was an unnecessary waste of our time and, more importantly, an extremely frustrating and upsetting experience for my son. I did my part as his mother by calling ahead and making sure you were able to accommodate him. I was given the wrong information and then still charged $79 after you were unable to provide the service. DO BETTER. Families with autistic and nonverbal children should not have to go through this after specifically calling ahead and explaining their child's needs. This felt incredibly unfair and misleading. SCAMMERS.

I brought my husband and our 22-month-old daughter with me to my appointment. While I was getting my cleaning, the staff was being nice to her, gave her toys, and kept her entertained, which I appreciated. However, when we were getting ready to leave, we noticed one of my daughter's pigtails had been CUT OFF and both of her hair ties were missing. When my husband asked about it, the response we got was that no one knew what happened and that they "don't even have scissors there." That answer is not only unacceptable, it's insulting. My daughter is a toddler, she doesn't know how to use scissors, and she never pulls out her hair ties. Someone there cut her hair, and no one had the decency to tell us, or even own up to it when confronted. I'm not even that upset that her hair was cut, accidents can happen. What I'm furious about is the dishonesty and the complete lack of accountability. If something was wrong or if something got stuck in her hair and they felt the need to cut it, the absolute bare minimum would be to inform us first as her parents, not silently make that decision and then act clueless afterward. This situation was handled horribly, and I'm extremely disappointed in how it was swept under the rug. I expected better. I added pictures of how her hair was before we got there and after we left. UPDATE 5/2/25: After posting my original review about the disturbing incident involving my daughter's hair being cut during our visit, I finally got a call, today, now days later. And when the dentist finally did reach out, instead of offering an apology or showing any concern, he spoke to me in a defensive and borderline hostile tone. He immediately said he "trusts his staff," that he personally questioned everyone, and of course, they all denied it. Then he had the audacity to say he found it "odd" that this happened while my husband was there, as if we were trying to pull some kind of scheme. That accusation was not only offensive, it was completely out of line. He didn't let me speak, didn't ask what we experienced, didn't express any empathy, and absolutely no care about what happened to my child. He just told me to transfer my care elsewhere, canceled all my future appointments, said "take care," and hung up the phone like I was the problem. Let me be clear, someone cut my daughter's hair without permission. She is 22 months old. She cannot consent. No one asked us beforehand, and no one told us afterward. Whether they want to admit it or not, this is extremely serious and potentially considered battery under the law, as it involves unauthorized physical contact with a child. And to be treated as if we did something wrong or made it up is absolutely outrageous. I'm beyond furious. I didn't want to escalate anything, all I wanted was a little honesty and accountability. Instead, I was treated like a liar and pushed out of an office I was suppose to trust. Because of how dismissively and unprofessionally this was handled, because of how this was handled, we will absolutely be taking this situation further.

I like the archways in the office and I was given a brief tour when I came in, which I liked because knowing my surroundings helps put me at ease. They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable, they had a comfort menu with everything from blankets to a t.v. screen with Netflix. I only wish that I didn't procrastinate and made an appointment to see Dr. Palola sooner.

Let me…read morestart by saying I've been seeing Dr. Okihiro for almost 20 years, that should give you an idea about how I feel about his level of service and expertise as a dentist. That being said I would hate to have to find another dentist because the office fails to communicate proactively and productively. Prior to my last visit I was given a quote for a crown, which would have been a two part visit, one visit to prep, the next visit to solidify the crown. Upon the completion of my first visit I made a payment which was higher than I expected it to be. Curious, I asked what would my final payment be after my second visit and I was told an amount which was about 4 times more than what I was expecting. It was explained to me that my insurance wouldn't be covering the service so I would be responsible for the full amount. To say I was shocked was an understatement, I wanted to cancel my next appointment. The office admin encouraged me to keep the next appointment and maybe work out a payment plan with the office manager. I waited for a call from the office manager that never came, instead a received a text message that reads as follows: "Hi XXX, due to circumstances, we are unable to keep your appointment on (insert date here), if you were planning on going through with the crown. We will be cancelling that appointment until you are ready to reschedule it or if you ever want to reschedule it. Thank you and have a great day!" I called the office twice and received their voicemail. I did not leave a message. I replied to the text asking to have their office manager call me. I have not received a call back. A simple phone call to let me know the price had changed, when they found out my insurance wouldn't cover the appointment, would have been extremely helpful. Instead they wait until my first appointment was completed to tell me the price had changed and they didn't volunteer the information, I had to ask. Very poor communication on their part and no accountability. I'm very disappointed.
