11/24/25 - Following my six-month cleaning/exam, I was told I needed a crown to go over a back molar that had a small cavity below old dental work that covered a filling done by a previous dentist many years ago. Today, the crown was created and installed in less than two hours using technology for a same-day procedure (uses digital pictures/scans to build the crown), making it convenient for me. Told what was happening each step of the way and was impressed/pleased with the result as the crown looks like a natural tooth in color/shape. Dr. Ryan Inouye and his assistants did a superb job. If anyone is looking for a dentist, I am recommending Dr. Dung. Im sure everyone has their preference, but this is a dentist you would want to at least give it a try. The staff is VERRRRY nice. They remember you every visit and they take pride in their work. Dr. Dung is approachable and answers all your questions. When cleaning or doing any type of fixtures, they continuously ask how I am doing and if I am doing okay. They make sure we are comfortable and do not try to make decisions on the spot. If I could I would give Dr Dung and his staff 10 stars! He is located on the 3rd floor of the building room 303. I needed to see a dentist immediately after I had chipped my front tooth in the middle. Clarence the receptionist who I must say is so awesome and personable had a time for me to come in (THANK YOU JESUS!) since there was a cancellation. I came in and checked in the front, filled out papers and gave her my ID. Smooth sailing! Let me just note that I have not seen a dentist in YEARS and felt super embarrassed about my teeth. They made me feel comfortable and made sure I was taken cared of. I sat in the chair did an X-ray and in 30 mins or so Dr Dung fixed my tooth! He truly is the man version of the tooth fairy! He encouraged me to come back to see him as I do need other stuff done but he NEVER made me feel embarrassed or pressured. Throughout the procedure he made sure I was doing okay in the chair. My pain tolerance is pretty high so it wasn't anything I couldn't handle, I just could not stand that drilling sound lol! Dr Dung showed me his magic he had done on my tooth and I started to cry happy tears because it looked as good as new! Just recently I've had to fix a cracked filling and put a crown on another tooth, he did both in 1 appt. This is the first time I've ever had a crown so I didn't know what to expect, but he explained everything before he did it, I've heard from others that a crown takes 2 appts. because they have to make a mold of your tooth send it out to make the crown and you have to come back to put it on. But not here, Dr. Dung made my crown right in the office and put it on that day! Yay! I didn't have to take another day off of work! I usually hate going to the dentist (because of my previous experiences of poor dental work and unfriendly staff) but a friend of mine recommended Dr. Ryan Dung. When I called they said that they're not taking new patients but I was fortunate to be able to schedule my first appointment because I had a referral. I've been going to his dental office for less than a year now and I don't dread going to the dentist like how I did before! Dr. Dung, the receptionist, hygienists, and ALL the staff are super friendly!! It's nice that they remember me and always greet me by my name whenever I walk into their office. It shows that they care for every patient. Wish I came here sooner! With Dr. Dung's help, I was able to get a root canal therapy, a crown, a filling, and a wisdom tooth extraction done. Since my previous dentist did a poor job with my fillings, I got a tooth infection in one of them so I needed to get a root canal. I've never had a root canal therapy procedure done before and I was scared. However, Dr. Dung always explains everything thoroughly and what to expect with each procedure. Since I had to get it done to my back molar, he referred me to an endodontic specialist, Dr. Matt Hoshino (Dr. Hoshino and his staff were super friendly too!) After my root canal was complete, I had to go back to Dr. Dung to get a crown. I heard that with some dentists, getting a crown requires 2 visits. I was surprised that Dr. Dung was able to get my crown done in one day, during the same appointment! In my most recent visit, I just had a cleaning and check-up scheduled. After looking over my x-rays, Dr. Dung said I needed to replace a filling and get a non-surgical wisdom tooth extraction done--he did it within that same appointment! It was very convenient since I didn't have to go back again another day. He's also very quick and efficient in getting the job done. I thought doing all of that would take long but I only stayed at the dental office for less than 2 hours. I understand that it's a challenge to get any work done on my teeth because of my tiny mouth but Dr. Dung and his dental assistant do their job super well! I've never felt any pain whenever he had to numb my gums and I always feel at ease at every visit. I'm still embarrassed with my small mouth and teeth, but I'm glad and relieved that I'm finally getting help with my smile. I like that before doing any procedure, Dr. Dung explains the possible options and then recommends the best one before he asks you to decide. He also takes into consideration your insurance coverage. If you don't need a procedure done right away, he'll try to postpone the procedure (unless you really need it done right away) until your insurance renews so you don't have to pay too much at one time. I did the root canal therapy at the end of last year and got my crown in the beginning of this year when my insurance coverage renewed. I don't know of any other dentist who is that considerate! I had to get 3 fillings done and chose to do them all in one visit, Dr Inouye made SURE I was comfortable by talking through everything he was doing throughout the process. My husband had not been to the dentist for the most recent half of his life. Which is 18 years. Which is the entire lifetime of an 18 year old. Yes. He probably would never have agreed to go had he not, a few weeks ago, noticed that there was a visible HOLE in his back molar. Not unlike the time he finally agreed to go to the doctor because there was a growth on his noggin that turned out to be a little bit of, oh, CANCER. See what I have to deal with? On the day of his appointment, after a morning of sullenly flopping about the house and whining about flossing and how the dentist will be discouraged by his puny, toddler sized mouth, my husband finally set off for his first dental visit in nearly two decades. He had a WONDERFUL visit. He kept going on and on about how professional and skilled and adept Dr. Dung was. How he only barely noticed one of his shots, how Dr. Dung was personable and treated his staff with respect. How his office was easy to find. How he had his own television, and no one grumbled about his miniature mouth, and how everything was fancy and state of the art (It probably seemed downright space aged compared to the last time he was at the dentist) and how we need to hurry up and make him another appointment with the friendly appointment maker to take care of a few minor cavities he still had. So now he's a fan of going to the dentist. Which is AMAZING. And more than that, he's now begrudgingly admitted that I was right about flossing. So now he's flossing. And yes it takes forever and he uses two arm lengths of floss but at least it's getting done. Incremental improvement, that's all I ask. Dr. Dung is awesome. Drive to Waipahu and see him. This is a great dentist office. Their staff is amazing. I used to go to the Aiea medical center but got tired of paying for parking fees. Even though it's right off Farrington Hwy in Waipahu the office itself is very clean and professional looking. Dr. Dung is great in diagnosing potential cavities and telling you straight up whether it's worth doing the work vs spending the money. I told him my last dentist said I needed a crown ($$$) but he explained that it wasn't necessary and a filling would suffice.Their hygienists are gentle and thorough at the same time. Came in for a filling that took no more than 15 minutes! Dr. Dung is friendly with staff and patients. He tells you what he's doing and what you might feel/experience during the procedure. Front office staff and assistants are also friendly and accommodating as well. Waiting area and the back has always been clean and neat.
