I went to Li's acupuncture for a massage for and let's say it was not the best experience. I showed up to my appointment time 10 minutes early and I didn't get the best vibe. She seemed concerned that I showed up for my appointment, so I confirmed several times that someone was available to give me my 1 hour massage with hot stones. Right away she wanted me to pay for the service even though I had not received it. Fine she settled the service, takes me to a room, then she tells me the masseuse is busy and if I want to come back or wait 30 minutes. I got annoyed that she didn't tell me this before settling the payment. Then after I complained she said she could do half of the massage and then the other masseuse would finish. She said they were busy, but I had an appointment and if she couldn't provide the service then why have me pay in advance. So the first woman that did the massage was awesome, the second woman was very lame all she did was rub with minimal pressure. I won't be returning for another massage here. I would not recommend and not come back. I booked my appointment on a Wednesday evening, when I received my confirmation I asked for a female masseuse and was told only if I paid cash. I rescheduled to a different day to use my Groupon. My actual massage was like rubbing chapped hands on my back. If oil and lotion were used, I did not feel anything except the friction of her hands to my skin. Can you imagine a dry elbow being rubbed up and down your back? It's not great. I'm really sad to write this review. I rarely write negative reviews. But with over 1600 friends, I feel I have to warn my fellow yelpers of this cheating and deceitful place. I just got back from Li's massage. It was my first time there. When it was time to pay, I noticed the owner, Ms. Fenglen Li added an extra $40 for an additional half hour when it should've been only $25 (according to their menu). They also didn't offer me the groupon, which I was eligible to get since it was my first time there. I paid in total $157. Overall, I felt ripped off and taken advantage of. Then as I was leaving, Ms. Fenglen Li CHASED ME OUT to the parking lot, demanding more tip. I already paid in total $157. If I had got the groupon $70 and paid $25 for the additional half hour I should've really been charged $95. So they OVER charged me $62 and demanded I pay more! They are desperate for business and using shady underhanded means to rip people off. Beware of this place! Also I need to mention: The massage itself was NOT good, the massage therapist - "Amy" has ZERO professional training. And yet they are charging - even higher - than professionally trained massage prices. read more

My last masseuse moved away, so I have been looking for a new one nearby w/reasonable prices. I found Li's on Groupon and bought the 60-minute one. I emailed them to set up an appointment and received a response quickly and they were able to accommodate me with the time and date I was looking for. I arrived about 15 minutes early and was greeted warmly by Grace, who took me early and thanked me for not only being on time but early. Grace was friendly and took into consideration the problem areas that I wanted to focus on as well as being mindful of my neck, which has issues. She gave an incredible massage and I booked my next appt. with her before I left. I walked out feeling rejuvenated and happy. I'm very excited that I have found a new masseuse. Lately my wife have been looking for a good massage salon to help with my bad back and Sciatica pain . She was also looking for a place where she felt safe and was clean. My wife and I recently went to Li's Massage for a couples massage. Its in the shopping center at Poway Rd. and Community Rd. A well lite and open, clean location. We bought Groupon for one hour each. We had a very enjoyable experience. Atmosphere was really nice, the place was very clean, the people were very nice. When we went into our room the place was nicely decorated, not dingy or old styling. The place even smelled nice , not like old and dirty. The music was subtle and easy to listen to. My wife got a man named Wayne , who she said found all her sore spots in her back and was very polite and courteous. I was lucky enough to score a lady named Grace who has skills. She found my sore spots in my back and even some I didn't know were there. She got all the knots out. For my leg pain , she did great job of reliving the pain there. She has soft but firm touch .She ,as well, was very polite and frendly. Her techniques are great, after all was done , they were still very friendly not in a hurry to get paid (like other places) and just really made us feel valued. We purchased a Groupon deal for a 60-minute massage for $40. My experience with the massage therapist, Coney, was absolutely fantastic. There were three of us in total. The receptionist, who may have been the owner, seemed a bit unfriendly. The establishment was clean, but there was an odd smell lingering in the air. Lily is great! She asked "medium or hard?" I said hard and she delivered. Some may find her strong hands and pressure to be too much. Just ask her to go lighter but I like a very firm pressure. I was not sure what to expect as this was my first time. A few things: I had a 90-minute massage which was a mixture of pressure points, massage, hot stone and some pounding. If you are not comfortable with you bare butt being exposed, then wear underwear, a thong or ask her to keep butt covered. However, her technique has your bottom exposed so know what you're getting going in. This may bother some but just be prepared to tell her what you want. There was some commotion with clients or potential clients walking into lobby area, so the massage was interrupted a few times and Lily's co-worker, another female, came into our room to ask a question, so a little bit of disruption. Again, this does not bother me, but I can see how some might be put off. The price is extremely reasonable, and Lily's very firm technique allows me to look passed a few things that might bother me or others. I will definitely be back. read more

Masseuse walked out 4 times during massage to deal with customers at the counter or employees, including one loud, several-minute conversation right outside the door. Massage was average. She complained when I tried to give a 20% tip ($18 on $90 massage). Said $20 was the normal amount and what I should give. Over many years I have seen Li and she is excellent at massage and acupuncture. I have known Li for a very long time. My favorite massage therapist now for the last couple of years has been Ivy. Ivy, gives an absolutely excellent massage, just the right pressure. I don't like deep massages and I always remind her when I go but she remembers. I play racquetball and then go for a massage. She is the greatest and I would highly recommend Ivy. read more

Some people seem to be happy after coming here - so maybe it depends on who you get - and/or your frame of reference. I came in for a 30 min full body massage on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait time. I was asked to pay in cash or venmo - it was $40 for 30min massage. I told the front lady I could add tips on venmo later too but she was like "no we don't accept tips on venmo, next time just bring cash". Anyways I entered the massage room, it was clean and the music was soothing. Masseuse was great but covered only the upper body - I guess that's all she could do for 30 mins, but that wasn't made clear when it was advertised as a full body massage for 30 mins. Also, during the end of the massage, she left the room without covering me to bring a hot towel and even though she closed the door quickly, I didn't feel comfortable. Also when checking out, I wanted to still pay tips and the owner said I could pay via venmo, when I was going to pay $8 (which is already 20%), she insisted I pay $10. Best massage I've had in a long time. I'm always in pain in my shoulders and hands and coming here really helps to get rid of a lot of the tension and muscle aches I feel on a daily basis. I just had a baby and my back hasn't been the same and they are awesome at getting the trouble spots you need. I recently bought the groupon for the $25 for a one hour massage. When I called to schedule and woman who spoke very broken english answered the phone and we managed to schedule the appointment for that afternoon. Upon arrival, she was the only one there and knew nothing about the groupon deal. She had to call someone and hand me the phone. At this point I was already a little uneasy. Once we get it figured out, I was led to a massage room. Once the massage started it was good and she did ask about pressure, however anytime someone entered the shop she would leave the room and leave the door OPEN while I was barely covered with a thin sheet. I have been seeing Grace, (the owner of Li's Acupuncture and Herbs), for massage for quite some time, and now that she has opened her own acupuncture clinic, I'm a proud to be the first to give her a review. I visited Li's Acupuncture and Herbs yesterday for a massage and found the salon to be inviting and relaxed. The temperature was very comfortable, (it was 100 degrees outside), and the room clean, neat, and comfortable. She has six individual rooms with one dedicated to acupuncture. Her prices are very reasonable, and Grace is by far the best massage therapist I have ever been to. She gives a very therapeutic massage and yesterday was no exception. She has a gift for finding where your tension is and focusing on those areas. I never have to explain where I would like her to focus and she uses just the right amount of pressure. Even though I have never had a need for acupuncture and have only been to Grace for massage, I know from talking to her that she is highly educated, and practiced acupuncture in China for many years before coming to the US. She is very experienced, and has continued her education since coming here and is now licensed to practice in the US. BEST DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE EVER! Tucked away in a little strip mall a few doors down from a pawn shop in Poway is one of the most amazing places to get a "real" massage. Unlike the chain massage places, the lovely husband and wife team who own Li's have obviously been classically trained and are very experienced. Several months ago, I had a condition that had been causing me severe pain for over 5 months. After just one deep tissue massage, I felt 80% better, and with my second massage, that pain was completely gone. Their prices are very reasonable and the salon is clean, neat and inviting. I only saw this place by chance (they are a few doors down from the PAWN SHOP that used to be on Poway Road, but is now closed), noticing their neon signs for "ACUPUNCTURE" and "OPEN" facing their front, and "MASSAGE" facing towards Poway Road. so I pulled in, parked, and went inside to inquire about TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). Dr. Li was educated, trained, and has many years of experience in TCM, Acupuncture, Cupping, and Massage In Northern China before coming to America and opening her place here in Poway. She is a Calfornia L.Ac (Licensed Acupuncturist), so in my case, I want to lose weight, and decided to try her Acupuncture and 1-hr Massage Services ($70 + $50 = $120), which I thought was very reasonable. She put her fingers on the area just above my wrist, and felt my pulse on first one side, and then the other, and then asked me specific questions about my health. She then had me lie down on my back and applied needles to first the front side of me, neck, body, hands, arms, legs, and feet, waited a few minutes, removed them, then had me turn over to my stomach, and applied needles to the other side of me, waited a few more minutes, then removed the needles. Room lights were dimmed during the wait times, and afterwards, she told me I was actually in very good health. This all took about an hour. Next, she had Summer take me to another room for my 1-hr Massage, and it was so relaxing, I fell asleep! She had to wake me up to turn over to do the other side of me. I could tell she was hitting my key pressure points known from Traditional Chinese Medicine, on my head, neck, body, hands, fingers, arms, legs, and feet, and when she was done, while some of the spots still hurt, I felt an overall sense of feeling very much better. It was well worth the money (another place I had tried charged $75 for only 30 minutes), and my next appointment is in two weeks. Both Dr. Li and Summer were very polite and easy to talk to, listened to what I had to say, and answered all the questions I had to my complete satisfaction. It's been a couple days now, before writing this review, and I feel great, so I am definitely going back in another week and a half for my next appointment with both Dr. Li and Summer. Bottom Line, 5-Stars, I am very happy with their services. I say, GO FOR IT!! read more
