He was happy to install some other equipment I bought and set up my over the top redundancies so we will always have the ability to service the system at any time without losing water access. Chris is really a straightforward and down to earth guy who uses industry standard gear all the way up to complete overkill and doesn't try to upsell at all. During a recent routine maintenance check on my water softener, Tim asked if my electric bill had been unusually high lately. It turned out it had--it was nearly double for the past four months! Tim explained that while working on the system with the well water shut off, he noticed the well pump continuously running when it should have been idle. He suspected a corrosion leak was causing the pump to run constantly trying to fill the expansion tank, which also explained our severely diminished water pressure. When I mentioned our electric bills had jumped by over $600 compared to the previous year, he urged me to call a well company. My well company came out immediately and found a galvanized coupler at the bottom of the well with a large hole eaten through it by corrosion. Not only was this wasting electricity and killing our water pressure, but letting it continue would have burned out the pump entirely. Faced with a $600 repair bill for a 11-year-old system, I decided to go ahead and replace the entire well pump setup for $1,700 rather than sink money into a temporary fix--especially since a standard service call just to check out the system is $525. Tim's keen observation saved us from a total system failure and even more expensive repairs down the road. He really knows his stuff and is an exceptional diagnostician.
