I have been to this resort every single season of the year, and every single season has something to offer. The wild life are amazing. The owner goes above and beyond to make her guests feel comfortable and well taken care of. I was especially impressed with what this resort had to offer. There is something for everyone: vacation rentals, RV parking, and campsites. The best part was that I was able to bring my horses. There was an outdoor arena, trails, and much more. I never had to worry about anything. She was the expert on site when I had an issue with my horse. It was real simple and we got it figured out. When we drove up we were allowed to check out the sites and there was quite a variety considering how small it seemed overall We were in site #8 and if you have a choice (and capable vehicle) I strongly suggest spot 7 or 8. They are tucked away right beside a path down to the lake. Amazing views all around. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the spots seemed close together (perhaps for group camping) and had I ended up in one of those on a busy weekend I would have been quite disappointed-spots 7 and 8 get 5 stars though!!! They have really nice, clean, and surprisingly well stocked bathrooms although only 1 for each sex so on a busy weekend may not be the best but I was expecting May Long to be busy so maybe this is just a hidden gem. Super close to Ainsworth Hot Springs and even closer to the lake.

Nope. No. Nyet. Nein…read more How many ways can I say no? We made reservations for two tent sites during our motorcycle trip across Canada. We are veterans of the tent camping at primitive sites / truck stop / RV park scene, so I'd offer that our standards are pretty reasonable and based in years of experience. We rolled in after putting in about 500 miles. Immediately upon approaching the site, we began having those weird gut feelings telling us something wasn't quite right. The site itself is built into a hillside and the retaining walls outlining the park are covered in graffiti. As soon as I put my kickstand down, I got a weird stare down from some sketchy tweeker who I couldn't tell if he was eyeballing my equipment or challenging me to a dance off. The tent sites here are akin to a homeless camp. Cramped, dirty, and full of some people of questionable intent. The RV portion is little more than a gravel parking lot that is nut to butt as far as spacing goes. A fellow motorcyclist from Australia approached us and told us that we'd be best served to move on. He pointed out the sketchy tweeker and his entourage of turds, stating that they were confrontational, rude, and frankly of questionable moral character. In all fairness, Nelson has kind of a hippie artist vibe to it, so I wasn't all that shocked that the campsite embraced that ethos. The staff at the campsite were completely professional and I felt that the attendant wasn't all that shocked that we decided to move on. He even offered up multiple other options in the area. Let me be clear. There is no way I would stay at this campsite with 5 grown men, let alone with my family or kids. If you are completely self contained in a van or RV with a way of securing your property, you'll probably be ok, but you'll be rolling the dice. Bring a knife and your best parachute pants. The chances of a dance off or knife fight breaking out are good.

It's across the road from a lake Roosevelt boat launch which has excellent recreation and fishing opportunities. The park is off the beaten path so there is hardly any road noise and it has beautiful shade trees everywhere. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the parking for big rigs is somewhat tight but our 36 foot 5th wheel fit in just fine. Good water and a very cool shower building fire pit and picnic tables sewer hookups 15, 30, 50 amp power at every site and our two dogs were very welcome there.

The place is an absolute SLICE OF HEAVEN paradise ~ only a little over an hour away from us... but a whole other magical, peaceful world, altogether! Dog friendly, eco-conscious, immaculate, totally charming, and replete with the most amazing owners, Jake and Cody, who quickly became our new best friends (along with their two sweet dogs)! They drove us in their Gator into the national forest (located right across the street), to go morel hunting - and we had great success! It was amazing!!! And they made us Bellinis in the morning with homemade rhubarb preserve using rhubarb from their garden, and bonfires in the evening, replete with s'mores. The bunk house we rented was adorable, quaint, spacious and comfortable, and we felt like we were at sleep-away camp, which brought back the happiest feelings of nostalgia for both my husband and myself. (They also have RV hook-ups overlooking the glorious lake/creek)! The rental of the bunkhouse came with full access to the awesome mess hall below, with a big screen TV, comfy couches, tables and chairs and a full kitchen! This place is a must visit peaceful paradise. The expansive beauty and charm is breathtaking and the accommodations and hospitality are absolutely unparalleled! We had the most relaxing, wonderful time at the retreat/resort and with Jake and Cody and their doggies! Can't recommend it highly enough. We will definitely make going to Ruby Creek Resort a regular pastime!

All sites overlook the beautiful Pend Oreille river as the intentionally limited number of sites makes all sites waterfront. We enjoyed using the Kayaks and float tubes provided free of charge. We also explored the area up Ruby Creek and loved being in this quiet piece of heaven. The owners Jake and Cody were wonderful and made our stay perfect.
