I really like visiting Lionel Smith. There are so many cool gift ideas in here that I just can't help but stop in. That being said, some items are pretty pricey, but where else can you get a custom made shirt with all the little details and monogramming in Aiken!? They have tons of awesome brands and about ten million pairs of colorful socks (okay, I might have exaggerated the number....but there are a lot)! The staff are incredibly knowledgeable. I've bought items here and rented suits and tuxedos, both with excellent service. They are absolutely worth a visit if you are in the area! read more

Look no further than this gentlemen's clothing store if you are within the CSRA. I first visited Lionel Smith in search of finer dress shoes, and have since developed a significant interest in their fine clothing selection. Van Smith, and his genuinely friendly sales associates are legitimate members of the community and greet you as warmly as a longtime acquaintance. Just left this fine menswear store. Excellent customer service and selection. They even wrap your purchases up for you in the store with no charge and I mean they wrap them in a real box with real paper and this for you to simply take the item home and open it up. I love this. read more

Lionel Smith, Ltd was founded in March of 1976 in the heart of downtown Aiken, SC. After working in and managing several clothing stores, our founder, Lionel "Smitty" Smith, decided to open his own haberdashery. With a dream, a commitment to hard work and his family's savings, Smitty opened Lionel Smith, Ltd and began a legacy in Aiken, SC and literally the Southeast. In 1992, having worked for his father essentially his entire life, Van Smith bought the business from Smitty. Van decided then that to be successful in the menswear business, Lionel Smith, Ltd had to be known for its high level of customer service and exquisite taste level in merchandise. Another chapter in the history of Lionel Smith, Ltd began in June of 2013 when Van and longtime associate Danny Minolfo became business partners. Since opening our doors in 1976, we have prided ourselves in finding unique clothing and accessories in the men's market place. We shop markets all along the east coast for vendors that provide quality products that deserve the price on the tag.

Seven weeks ago, I purchased a mattress and pillows from the Aiken Mattress Warehouse. Several…read moremistakes were made on the receipt which I noticed the next day. There were also items on sale for which I was to get a refund. I was told that it would all be corrected. I received a partial refund about 2 weeks later. When I went back to the store, I was told that the balance was approved and I should be getting the approximately $900, back within 14 days. That didn't happen. After 2 more visits to the store, a phone call with the manager and two emails to customer service, I still have not seen the refund or even the emails which I was told I would receive. I will update with further reviews in the future.

Visited this thrift store for their big annual discount sale. The back half of the store (old…read morewarehouse) reeks of cigarette smoke. It was impossible to determine if the smell was coming from something inside the large room (i.e., furniture, rugs, items, etc.) or if that was just the way it always smelled. They keep the children's toys and items in this part of the store, among many other things. I've had severe asthma my whole life, so even just being in that room was enough to make me start coughing. They have so much of their own decor that it can be confusing when trying to figure out what is actually for sale and what belongs to the store. Additionally, the store does not individually price a large amount of items (which are clearly for sale!) which is very frustrating (some areas have signs w/prices, others do not). Items that have been priced, vary greatly. For example, a very cheap purse might be listed at $20+ while a name brand purse is listed at $8. They have a section of designer/name brand items that is also marked up significantly. It would make sense if their prices were a fraction of what the item cost brand-new, but they're out here charging $35+ for very used leggings! And they weren't even Lululemon! The cashier was disengaged and barely acknowledged shoppers, despite the long line. It takes .10 seconds to make eye contact and greet a person. There are so many better, more reasonably priced stores in the area, so this is a no for me.
