Last minute Sunday lunch choice for Remembrance Sunday.
Turns out a poor choice & in my wife's words "possibly the worst Sunday lunch ever!"
Starters
Salmon for wife (we could have made this bread with Philadelphia with shop bought pack smoked salmon on)
Duck for daughter (same again, duck was nice but the sauce was obviously supermarket bought)
Cauliflower soup for me 3 stale rolls & soup tastes of nothing but a vague taste of cauliflower as well as it has obviously been microwaved in the bowl (cooks school boy error)
Mains
Beef (wife)
Beef (daughter)
Lamb (myself)
Meat was nice for all as were the mash potatoes & the gravy.
God KNOWS how old the 'Roast' potatoes were as they had been re-fried! (Old 'bad old days' trick of using up yesterday's or even several days before roast potatoes by deep frying them) horrid!
Another old school trick of making you think you've had a large meal is to bombard you with vegetables, which they did, unfortunately the carrots were either cooked and stored for days before use or were microwaved, again there are ways of telling, the rest of the veg was ok.
Service was slow, I have been sat here with my family for around 1 hr 20 mins for two courses (20 mins between starter & main)
Finally the icing on the cake...I asked for English mustard (see pic)
Oh, yes I am a chef of 28 years but I do not make a habit of rubbishing other people's food but at these prices I took exception. read more
