If you or your child has a physical limitation or a learning disability, let us show you how Freestyle can make it work" and they advertise "You're also welcome to stop by and observe any of our group classes." and they advertise, "For your event, you'll have the run of the entire academy for games like dodgeball, obstacle course, padded weapons and Instructor Says, a martial arts segment with punching, kicking and blocking, and even a dance party complete with disco lights and lasers. Your Freestyle party includes party favors! All guests will receive a card good for a FREE karate lesson with gi." and they advertise, "Am I too old to start martial arts? I love Sensei Kelly as he is knowledgeable and loves what he does. He has a very kind demeanor, amazing amounts of patience and is able to teach even the youngest Karate. He is able to maintain respect in a fun and friendly environment. It is wonderful to watch the three year old class. Kelly teaches Japanese Okinawan traditional karate. This dojo also participates in several Karate tournaments throughout the year. This is a family owned and family run business. I could rave about this dojo all day.

This Dojo (room or hall where judo or karate is…read morepracticed) is over the top helpful with instructors that go out of their way to help when a student is having difficulty. If a student gets hurt (which is rare but it is Karate, unarmed combat by definition) the class stops and the needs of the student is immediately addressed. The instructors are patient but do insist that each form or technique is learned correctly. As it should be, this is self defense. If not learned properly the student will be at risk if they ever need to use what they have been instructed. The student is never pushed to progress faster than they can but always receive positive reinforcement. An advantage I see in this school is that it has students that have belted in other forms of martial arts. This allows the new student with little or no background in Karate to get a broader perspective of Karate. The Dojo is true to it's style which is Shorin-Ryu so even while there are students that have studied other forms the instruction is pure Shorin-Ryu. It is a family like atmosphere not a military atmosphere like some schools I have visited. I have found this approach to actually help students progress faster with better skill because they are not directed with fear of making a mistake. In my opinion if you want to learn to protect yourself and are willing to practice along with showing up for class this is a school that will allow for very satisfying success

It's one of the only Olympic style taekwondo schools in northern Nevada and their curriculum reflects it. Practices focus on belt level forms, kicks, sparring, and self defense. The community here is incredibly welcoming and a great place for kids to learn discipline, stay active, and make friends! First Taekwondo actively participates in northern and southern California tournaments and consistently places gold. Master Tanner has practice Taekwondo for over 30 years. He's passionate about his work and really cares for the kids and adults. He's also the coach for Nevada Taekwondo which is UNR's team. We do a variety of things, from punching and hitting the heavy bag to exercising with weights. She mixes it up every class to keep us from getting bored. They offer other classes here too, but I haven't been to those. The facility is very clean, and has ample parking. There are tables and stools in the lobby if you have to wait for a loved one to finish class.

I was there for about a year, and more often than not we found equipment that wasn't working, which was very frustrating. I did point out on one of the machines once that a belt was getting ready to break and they immediately took it out of service, but when you go upstairs, a lot of the treadmills and whatnot are not working. The other problem here is the pool area. Not the pool itself, just some of the folks that use it. There are signs everywhere that say you must be wearing proper attire to go swimming, and yet I saw people in underwear frequently. It was brought up to the management, but it continued to happen. In the end, I didn't feel like this was a gym that would support the goals that I have.

The pricing is very good and they…read morehave a lot pf amenities; They close the sauna, pool and steam room area 30 minutes before closing, however. take that for what its worth. the sauna is hot, but the tile walls burn the flesh because they dont absorb heat. the hot tub has cold water coming out of some of the jets (and it smells funny); the cold plunge and steam room are nice, though. the pool has no lanes and doesnt really work for lap swimming. My current gym has a better sauna (doesnt burn you), jacuzzi with hot water, and a lap pool.
