Parking in front as well as the rear of the building, although it's not clear about the extra parking out back, we were told about this when we checked in. The pros: front desk staff very friendly and helpful, as well as the staff we encountered at breakfast; very good service. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast selections were fresh and plenty. The cons: rooms were pretty small and quite stuffy. There was an electric fan tucked away that I used to get some airflow going but it was still uncomfortably warm at night (early September stay). The fan was also caked with dust as it had probably never been cleaned. The exhaust fan in the bathroom also appeared to have never been cleaned. The elevator (lift) is so small that it could only fit two people (with two suitcases). Luckily, it wasn't too busy during our stay so we weren't waiting long to use it. Overall, I was not impressed with this hotel and would probably not stay here again. The Best Western brand usually has much higher quality hotels in its roster, certainly when it comes to cleanliness. I found this one to be more of a "Mediocre Western".

Also, they do not offer a "continental breakfast" option. There is only 1 buffet breakfast. One can't simply get a cup of coffee at this location (other than instant in the room). As for my experience, I was so ill from allergies at this hotel, I do not recommend it if you have any asthma or allergy ailments (mold and tree). The shower temperature would change from scalding to cold every few minutes (not safe for children). I was given a very smelly, dirty towel one day by the cleaning staff but otherwise, they do a nice job keeping the room tidy. Carpeting throughout the building needs to be replaced. The amenities in the room were nice: TV, hotpot, cookies, tea, hairdryer. I did not find the front desk very helpful if you have any questions about the area. They can order a taxi for you, though! I think most people use this hotel because it offers parking which is unusual in Oxford due to the sprawling city.

Believe it or not, they moved ALL our stuff out of our room because they had to accommodate us with a different room. They couldn't reach us via phone, so they literally went into the room and moved every single personal item that I had inside. Is that even LEGAL?!?!? I was so astounded, I'm from New York and have never experience that before, nor have ever met anyone who has experienced that situation happening! We were surprised that they moved our stuff because they promised to discuss the room switch with us when we returned at 4 PM. They shouldn't have told us that it was OK to resolve later in the day, especially if they knew the hotel was completely booked. The WiFi is very spotty, so if you are running a business, definitely not the place to stay! Additionally, there is no hot water for the showers and when you call the front desk to inquire, they tell you that there's nothing they can do. I'm truly not picky, but when I got to a hotel, the two things that are most important to me are stable WiFi and hot running water! The staff takes no accountability- doesn't offer any help AT ALL! At 10 PM at night I called the front desk for 25 minutes and NO ONE answered. I then proceeded to walk downstairs in my bath towel and found the ONE person working (mind you, for an 80 room hotel) and at the bar drinking!!! Stay away, worst hotel I've ever been to. Would not recommend. Please go anywhere else within oxford. Also, the night porter at the front desk that literally did not help at all, and did not bother to call the manager. We kept saying that the shower was freezing cold, and instead of bothering to help us with the issue, he said wait until the morning. Meanwhile, it was only a button that had to be pressed to fix the thermostat valve. This was an easy fix that should have been communicated over the phone from front desk.

The location can't be any more central - down a tiny alley, right on top of the Turf Tavern and just around the corner from the Bodleian and Trinity College, Bath Place really is right in the heart of Oxford. Booking is a bit of a pain - like many smaller English hotels, they prefer that you book by phone, which is less than ideal when you have to pay international calling rates, but that's just a small hiccup. We arrived a bit later than anticipated due to some car trouble, but the hotel was perfectly accommodating. We were greeted by the receptionist and two friendly terriers, and shown to our room. I'd requested room 12 specifically because it's one of their few rooms with two beds, and it was perfectly lovely, but not for the mobility-limited. It's up a narrow, winding flight of stairs and there's no lift, so anyone who might have issues climbing stairs or those with giant luggage might struggle. We didn't mind, and had the top floor of the cottage to ourselves with a view of the bell tower and a pretty back garden. The room was quite spacious, especially for an historic property, and well appointed with a dresser, vanity, and mini-bar complete with tea and coffee fixings. The bath, although lacking a shower, had a generously-sized tub and a heated towel rail, which I was supremely excited about. We had a good night's sleep, uninterrupted by Turf revelers - with the windows closed, we couldn't hear a thing, although I imagine it might be different in the summer - and in the morning availed ourselves of the breakfast buffet. Breakfast is included in the room fee, and the buffet spread wasn't lacking. Meat and cheese, fruit, juice, cereal, yogurt, and tiny glass jars of jam and honey. Fresh bread and warm croissants were brought to our table, as well as a tiny French press of coffee made to order. There was also an option to order additional hot items like eggs or beans on toast, which we didn't bother with as the buffet was plenty. Although checkout was at 11am, we were able to leave our luggage at reception until our train later that afternoon while we explored the town. The room fee was very reasonable, especially considering the historic nature of the property, the central location, and the wonderful breakfast. I can't wait to return to Oxford and stay here again!

We absolutely loved our stay. The staff were friendly and professional. They even entertained my line of nerdy history questioning. The building has a long history and it's been well taken care of over many years. Centrally located and easy for us to get around Oxford with little effort. The suite we had was a great value and the entire hotel is incredibly charming. Be sure not to miss a cocktail at the Morse Bar located just off the lobby entrance.

For what you see in the photo, you can expect to pay around £100. Though it's worth almost £50 per head, it's obvious that the quality and quantity speaks for itself. I got full already from just the basic tea sandwiches, before even touching the scones or the delectable desserts. Another reminder to come with an empty stomach! It's simply not a "snack" but rather, closer to a full-course meal. One thing I'd note is that the cakes & jam are very ordinary. Clotted cream was better at the Tea Garden as well. Nonetheless, the atmosphere was lovely, and you can't find a better place in Oxford. I'd absolutely recommend the afternoon tea at the Randolph if you are able. One minor hiccup was the reservation part. Even though my party arrived on time, we had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes to be seated. Other than that, the quality of our experience was exceptional.
