This is perhaps one of the larger bars in Middlesbrough, it consist of a massive spiralling staircase which takes you to an upstairs floor with looks down on the floor below. Both floors have massive bard stretching across the floors offering everything from pints, bottles, spirits cocktails and everything else. One an evening this place is always full, the music is current and upbeat dance, at times it can be a bit frustrating fighting to get to the bar but the drinks are quite cheap so its worth the wait. If you go during the day the offer quite a good menu, they have a buy one get one free menu which is very reasonably priced. They have a large amount of seating and quite a lot of booths so you can enjoy your meal in privacy, ideal if you still feel a bit rough after last night.

Upstairs is a balcony overlooking part of the dance floor with more tables. The music is a mix of whatever is currently in the charts really but it's good to get up and dance to. The bar is long and it's easy to get served. The usual drinks are served here and they often have one specific drink up for about £1.50. Prices aren't too bad. It isn't one of the bet places in Middlesbrough but it's ok.

The pub it's self is spacious with plenty of seating and some pool tables. There is also a large dancefloor. The drinks are cheap and there are usually offers, such as 2 bottles for £3, as it is aimed at students and they also do a 'loyalty card' scheme whereby you can obtain certian discounts. Open 7 days a week, it used to be an old cinema and so the interior is huge with their being quite a big dancing area, a long bar with lots of staff on (so it doesn't take long to get served), a seating area overlooking the dance floor, a 'games' area (pool tables, itbox and side seating) and a group of tables wiht bar stools near the bar. The best night for the Crown has to be student night on a Monday. It costs £3 for entry with it being about £1.50 for pints and £1.25 for a spirit and soft drink mix. Shots are a pound. The music played is a mix of most modern or in the charts stuff and you can request songs if you climb the stairs to talk to the dj. The bouncers are quite friendly though the bar staff can be a bit grumpy at times (undertandable really with the nature of the job). Other nights the crown has is gay night and rock night that I know of. The only complaint I could have is it gets really crowded and it can be hard to grab a chance on the pool table. Generally though the music is good, prices are good and it's well worth a night out there!

They made a suggestion, and I asked again if It contained any of the allergens in question, and they assured me it didn't. The food arrived, I ate some, and realized there was in-fact one of the allergens in it. This level of negligence is appalling. I wouldn't even trust them if you don't have allergies. There are better places to get food.

It was refurbed during my time here more often, with industrial touches inspired by the area, long tables and post-it notes so people could pretend that they were revising. Drinks are cheap, staff are lovely, the hunter's chicken, the burgers and the parmo (slightly less guilt inducing than from a takeaway, and still a boro staple) were regular choices for our lot, along with the sauce game (we always cleared up, I promise). It's cheap and cheerful, and definitely a good student visit, and if you aren't a student too.
