We happened upon the place purely by chance when returning from a day out, and I am so glad we did as it is now one of our favourite places to eat! I would recommend this pub to anyone who has a very healthy appetite, as i have never seen portions this big anywhere else! Many of the main meals would be enough to serve two people, especially some of the meat dishes, which are HUGE! Many of the meals have smaller portion sizes available, but to be fair these are still much bigger than you'd get in many other pubs. Even the children's portions are big! We have tried various dishes off the huge menu and all have been delicious; there is a quite a large vegetarian menu which pleased me; the mushroom stroganoff with pasta is lovely, and the puddings are gorgeous too! The prices are a little higher than many pub meals, but this is reflected in the portion sizes and the sheer quality of the food. I can't recommend this place high enough and am looking forward to returning there soon!

Not for those who want a quiet drink - as you will end up bumping into and talking to strangers. The staff are well trained and know how to handle crowds at the bar and anyone who has had a bit too much to drink. Tables are kept clean and more importantly the toliets are kept clean all night long. Drinks are reasonably priced. During the day they do a decent pub food menu which I have been told is very good but I have not tried the food myself.

Good menu with average prices, good array of food on offer from soups to sandwiches and hot meals, all freshly made. Service was very friendly and accommodating. It was very busy there, obviously very popular and hence decent parking with plenty of spaces outside. Recommended for lunch or an evening meal if you are in the area, I plan to go there again for lunch as I work in the Yarm area.

It looks really quaint and picturesque from outside, with massive flower tubs and outdoor tables. Also it has a nice big car park at the back. Main couses were scampi, beef casserole and dumplings and a burger of some sort. They get a 6/10. The food is good and reasonably priced but maybe not exceptional but then its only pub food. The place itself is recently refurbished and my only problem with it is its too large and too open by which I mean its like eating in a waiting room. Also there was no heating on and two of us were cold. The staff could be friendlier. The waitresses tended to plonk the food in front of you and basically not speak to you at all. The person on the till could be a little more welcoming. Generally a good meal but staff need some more training perhaps. Its maybe because they are young and unused to speaking to strangers! So nothing much wrong with the food but room for improvement. Why not give it a try.
