We started our home project with nothing more than a rough idea of what things were important to…read moreus. We wanted clean lines, modern yet still warm and livable, neutral & timeless. I met Pam, and on the spot, knew she was the right person to work with. Pam asked all the right questions and listened to what we wanted in our dream home. She completely understood our vision, thought of every little detail, and didn't overlook any aspect of the project that we felt was important. The level of detail and thoroughness when it came to how the spaces were designed really showed Pam and Erwin's level of expertise. Pam and Erwin had our dreams, vision, and best interest in mind. From the initial space planning for the kitchen and master bathroom, the layout of slabs, tile and cabinetry, selection of all the finish materials, colors, fixtures and hardware, they were very professional to work with. Details matter to us, and their attention to detail is apparent in our finished home. They referred excellent vendors and suggested the best, high end and quality finishes and materials. Most importantly, Pam and Erwin's work ethics are unbeatable, and they made sure we got everything we wanted on our checklist. From start to finish, the design process went smoothly, and the meetings and discussions were fun and productive. We gave them the creative freedom and trusted their design process and vision and our kitchen and bathroom remodel designs are masterpieces. We were so pleased with the quality of their work that we asked for Pam's help to furnish our house. Every room was beautifully designed with an understated sense of elegance and in tune with the architecture and surroundings. Pam's sense of style and her vision has positively impacted our quality of life as we enjoy her work every day. We are very grateful that we were able to work with Pam and Erwin. Our house would have not been the same without their creativity and vision.

She insisted on working with her 'team'. Mind you this is a former Google employee who has no formal training in design and fewer interpersonal skills. I've had better service at the USPS than with UD. In her response below she attempts to imply UD turned me down. The reality is she forced the issue of working with her contractor. Duh, who is footing the bill here Pamela? My contractor recommended the architect who recommended UD; and you attempt to commandeer the entire process by forcing the removal of the client's contractor? Recommendation: Avoid. Highly inflexible, domineering owner.

If it weren't for Erin, I'm pretty sure I would have just about given up on my home remodel by now…read more I am in the process of completely revamping a one-story 3 bedroom house. While I have always loved looking at home design stores and shopping for cool vintage pieces, I've never been able to tie entire spaces together in a cohesive way and thought hiring a designer would make sense. The thing I soon realized after talking to multiple design firms is that most of them only seem to care about two things: 1) your design budget and 2) your willingness to let them control construction work. And here's the thing, I get it. If I were an interior designer, I'd want someone to give me $10,000+ just for design and all the keys to the kingdom. It'd be easier for me. But I am not. I am just your average thirty-something who is finally establishing their first real entire house of their own, does not have an endless design budget, and actually wants to be actively involved in the process of remodeling. I wanted someone who I could bring a bunch of ideas to and guide me on what fits together and what doesn't, and teach me how to make a place feel like a beautifully tailored home as opposed to a hodgepodge of stuff that looks cool. Someone who could help keep me on track, troubleshoot problems, and weigh in on decisions. Enter Erin. Erin is like that one really kind and patient friend you always go to when you need someone to honestly and thoughtfully tell you what is gonna look good or not look good on you, or in this case, your home. She will never make you feel inferior for how much you are able to spend, or dumb for suggesting certain ideas. She is just gonna calmly talk you through figuring out all the thousands of small and large decisions that come along with a remodel so it's not quite so daunting and overwhelming. It is truly so much easier and so much more fun to have her on your team. She is currently based in Brooklyn and we are able to get a ton of work done through weekly virtual meetings. She offers different design hour packages that are flexible enough to meet whatever needs, budget, and degree of desire to be actively involved in the process you may have. I am using her for everything from interior design to exterior paint colors to weighing in on landscaping. So, please do not book up all her hours because I plan on using a lot of them. Once we finish each phase of the remodel, I'll update this review with pictures of the before and after.

She asked us to provide example pictures of what we liked to help guide the first meeting but I think it would have been more helpful if she had pictures of different designs handy so she could help us discern our style (this would have saved some time in the beginning as we sorta confused style with color palette and it wound up leading us down the wrong path... farmhouse!) Once we understood that our style was Japanadi then things really started to come together quickly. She came with us to meet with finishing suppliers who were all excellent. We wound up deviating from some of her recommended suppliers which sometimes worked extremely well. For example, our choice, Kassa for kitchen, bathroom, foyer and laundry was transformative! Her recommendations Rubenstein, Bay Stone, and Bullnose were excellent! Our choice, FMD for windows was an absolute horror show! But, through all of it Liane was a trusted confidant who never lost her patience with us and helped with each supplier regardless of her own preference. The thing that truly sets Liane apart from the rest is her attention to detail. I know it sounds cliche in the world of design but she goes above and beyond to ensure that every millimeter is accounted for. This is extremely important to ensure a smooth building process since the builders need to be able to trust that they can follow the plans without winding up with a bunch of ill-fit materials that then either need to be modded or replaced. The results are testament to her talent and we could not be happier with our new home! Thanks Liane for a truly special place for my family to spend our best years!

Majo and Hellen guided us every step of the way, helping us shape our Modern Spanish aesthetic while creating a detailed design plan for our contractor. With both of us working full-time, their expertise saved us countless hours and headaches. One of the biggest renovation challenges is dealing with overwhelming choices. Design Loft curated a few perfect options for everything--paint colors, light fixtures, cabinets, tiles--allowing us to make decisions efficiently while staying true to our vision. Their value went far beyond aesthetics. They caught several contractor mistakes that could have caused major issues and connected us to great vendors that helped us find the best deals. Here's something important: without a skilled designer, contractors often take the easiest route rather than creating the high-end look you're envisioning. At times we questioned our choices, but trust the process! Everything came together beautifully, and we couldn't be happier with the result. If you're planning a renovation, working with Design Loft is a no-brainer. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and ability to create designs perfectly tailored to your taste make them invaluable. Highly recommend Majo, Hellen, and the entire team!
