Lovely space, friendly waitstaff, and good, if inconsistent, food…read more I enjoyed my mac and 'shews bowl. The pasta was zesty and addictive-- a super-satisfying bite. The greens could use a little more flavor, but I liked the brightness they added to the dish. And the tofu portions were massive. My dinner companion was happy to polish off my plate for me. Speaking of him, he opted for the amazing deal of a three-course fixed price meal, which was an homage to Oktoberfest -- a stuffed cabbage roll followed by schnitzel and black forest cake. The cabbage roll was a tasty start. The schnitzel was uneven: The first piece was leathery, but thankfully, the second piece was well prepared. The cake had potential, but was dominated by a heavy dousing of cherry syrup. We eat mostly plant-based, so it made me happy to patronize Modern Love while in Omaha. Maybe an Austin outpost could be next?

I have been to Modern Love exactly once, many years ago, at their old location, so it was about…read moretime we checked out the (not so) new location! And what better opportunity than Omaha Restaurant Week! They had a $20 three-course prix fixe menu that included an appetizer, a main, and a dessert. They also had their normal menu available if you wanted that additionally or instead of the prix fixe. My husband and I made reservations about an hour before we came on a Friday evening and while there was a steady crowd the whole evening, we probably could have come without reservations and been seated quickly. I started with a Honee Cardamom gimlet and my husband got the pomegranate Moscow mule and despite both of us going with the prix fixe menu, we also decided to share an order of the poutine. My gimlet was tasty with all of the promised flavors, but it was a little too sweet. A little tart or sour note would have helped to bring the drink together. My husband enjoyed his mule a lot! The poutine was HUGE, but so so good. The fries and gravy were excellent. The only critiques I have is that it needed a bit more salt overall and the vegan feta, if they're going to call it that, needs to have a bit more of the salty, tangy, brine taste. The prix fixe started with an Arancini Carbonara, which was my favorite part of the dinner! It was one big arancini that was incredibly crispy on the outside, very creamy on the inside, had a great rich flavor that was complemented very nicely with the overnight pesto. This needs to be added to the permanent menu ASAP! Next came the spaghetti and meatballs. The pasta in pomodoro was very yummy! I would down this any day easy! But the meatballs were a little too smoky for my personal taste. Objectively they were good, but too meaty for me. We ended with the cherry amaretti bread pudding for dessert and it was truly the perfect ending! The mascarpone that was served on top was a perfect pairing. I'm not a huge cherry fan, but I could eat multiple servings of this in one go and be very happy! We also asked for hot sauce and were served a small dish of their house-made sauce. It was mildly spicy for me, but the flavor was very good and it went nicely with all of the savory foods, so I was happy. We probably still would have gotten it, but it would have been nice to know that the hot sauce is $1 for each little dish you get. The staff were friendly throughout and the service was nicely paced. Overall, it was a very enjoyable meal and I'll definitely come back, but as someone who has never eaten meat before and does not crave that flavor, I do wish that Modern Love would focus on a few dishes that weren't "meat alternatives," but just good food that also happened to be vegan.

Unfortunately, they've since merged with a donut shop and have a space in a strip mall. I think the business move makes sense but it really takes away half the reason I went here in the first place - the environment. The staff are friendly. It's almost never busy since they moved to the new location. I'm happy to report that the ice cream is still good! They have really fun waffle bowls that they make into ice cream nachos, great and unique flavors, and lots of toppings. There are board games in the store so you can sit and hang out with friends too.

As you approach and turn into the area there's gravel parking close by. What I loved about this place is that pets are welcome here! They even offer pup cups here! They also have a life sized pool game, corn hole, and some other activities to keep you entertained and enjoying the warm weather! There's a good variety to the menu and they have several different topping options! I had never had the kind of soft serve they offer here but was eager to try it out. It was interesting, the flavors you choose are twisted into the soft serve, it's a subtle taste. My boyfriend, his fam bam, and I were excited to come here after Father's day dinner and to make sure the guest of honor, his step dad, the father's day special!! We were lucky enough to check out some of their flavors and specials on their Facebook page! As soon as we got there I studied the menu and settled on their Butter Pecan Ice cream with hot fudge. It was savory and delicious. I liked how light and creamy it was. My boyfriend had the Horchata and loved that too! The rest of our group enjoyed their favors as well. His mom commented that she didn't taste much of the Peanut Butter but I think the flavors are meant to be subtle. It's all still new to me but I'm excited to discover more yummy flavors, and treat Rosie to some pup cups! If you find yourself in the are or just finished shopping at the outlets I highly suggest you head over to Cruizin Cones to get your ice cream fix!
