I would rather support local than chains/grocery stores. So my plan was to stop in on Saturday in which their hours on google and everything else said 9am-3pm. When I arrived at 1pm parking was hard to find. I ended up going down a side neighborhood street to park. Once I walked over to the store it was looking dark with no open sign. Door was locked and when I peaked in there was definitely no one working. I am just disappointed that google hours, Facebook hours and yelp all said they were open until 3. I understand it was a holiday weekend and everyone enjoys time off but at least on their door to their business they should have a sign explaining that they're closed and even maybe post something about it as I could not see any information anywhere. Unfortunately I feel like I won't try to give them business in the future as I feel like my time was wasted but I always have a change of heart. We shall see.

I mentioned right when I arrived that my hearing is poor. I asked about the availability of several flowers, and then--without any intention of being rude--I asked twice about the price of a peony. Apparently, this offended the owner, even after I had said more than once that I couldn't hear him. On being ordered to leave, I calmly, once more, explained my hearing trouble and left. I am devastated to have had this experience. I hope the owner is able to find more grace in future in helping customers--whether they have hearing issues /or/ budgets!

I've been back to the Exchange a couple of times since my last review. This time, to get flowers…read moreto compose some floral arrangements and a bridal bouquet. I went early Monday morning to scout flowers/prices in advance before purchasing for the wedding the following Sunday. Unfortunately, the Exchange is closed Saturdays and Sundays in July/August, so I ended up having to buy the flowers Friday and hold them through Sunday. Additionally, they get their floral deliveries on Monday (I confirmed this with one of the vendors) so the flowers I bought Friday had been sitting there for a week. And some of them really showed it. (Some vendors stay open on Saturday/Sunday and receive deliveries on those days, call them directly to inquire). I compared prices between the individual Exchange vendors as well as outside vendors. Prices for calla lilies were about the same at outside vendors, prices for mini succulent plants at the Exchange were cheaper. The selection at the Exchange can't be beat though. Little chance of finding some of the weirder items like Swamp Lilies, Fern shoots, ranunculus, etc. elsewhere. But some of the pricing on the harder-to-find items matches the desirability (fern shoots were $17.50 for 6!). I encountered some really nice, helpful, and patient staff at Fleurametz, Kelley, and Chester Brown, and some more bristly/unfriendly staff at other vendors. I do still get the sense that the staff are sometimes making up the pricing on-the-spot based on how they feel about you, and this was confirmed on Friday when I actually purchased the flowers. However, it was to my benefit, as one of the vendors warned me the ranunculus I wanted were on their last leg and discounted them greatly. Some of the flowers had been discounted from their Monday prices, naturally, as they were now a week old, though some were not (cymbidium orchids, dendrobium). The Exchange is a good option if you want more unusual blooms that your local florist probably won't have. They also carry a number of off-season blooms that would have to be special-ordered at a retail florist. You can get some good discounts on a Friday. Bring cash.

After being closed for a long weekend, they had their flower delivery first thing in the morning. I was told it will be an arrangement at the florists choice since the flowers were all around. I said no problem, as long as NO CARNATIONS so roses and balloons. I asked here...when will they be sent? She said early afternoon. Well here it is 3:50pm and NO FLOWERS have arrived for my mother's birthday. The woman who answered stated they were overcome with Funeral Arrangements, that the order will be delivered before 5:00PM. Ummm, hello...NOT MY PROBLEM. Customer Service failed completely! Wondering if I should pick it up myself, I called back and asked and she said it was up to me, but the arrangement wasn't done and won't be going out until 5pm since the delivery person was already out doing other deliveries. So, I cancel the order! And the best....NO ONE can credit my credit card until tomorrow. I am very disturbed that the owner wasn't around and the two individuals working had not idea how to credit an account, as well as lacked customer service. I am sure they are a wonderful florist, but just not for me or my Mother's Birthday. Now I have to buy flowers to take to her since Rennie's FAILED BIG TIME! nb: 1/4/17 - no credit to my credit card yet. Was told to wait a few hours and it should show!
