Outside the shop there is a sign that says "$18 hair cuts". The barber shop is busy and there are 3 different people cutting hair. No receptionist, just two men and a lady who looks like the owner's mother. We are greeted with a big "hello, have a seat, we will right with you". The owner asked me to have a seat and proceeded to cut my hair. Now I've been to a lot of barbers in my day and this guy knew what he was doing. He had a good eye and was able to get it just right. A straight edge razor shave for the neckline, a little bit of styling gel and I was good to go. They also do a traditional hot towel and wet shave. This is so much better than getting your hair cut at the mall for an extra $10 more.

If something goes wrong, I can just cut it shorter and my hair will always grow back, right? I walked by the salon in Chatswood contemplating if it was really worth it or just to wait and drive to my usual barber. It was just $10 and I'm walking right past it. I only needed a trim and I only had about a half hour till I needed to pick up my partner. I don't want to wait and I don't think I'll make it if I drive to my other barber. Ok, let's give it a try. I walked into the salon, immediately was able to sit down in a chair and the lady asks me how I want it cut. I tell her I just needed a trim and she proceeded to cut my hair with ease and style. I was impressed. Since I was only spending $10 on the haircut I opted to have my hair washed and styled (only another $7). It was a good decision. I walked out feeling so fresh and so clean and was on time to pick up my beautiful partner.

We walked over to the shop and yep, there was a catch... it's now a WHOLE $12.00, still the cheapest hair cut my husband would ever have. We walked in and was greeted with about 4 salon workers, not really sure who worked there and who didn't as he was told to sit in 3 differant chairs. A young man asked him what he wanted done and about 10mins later he was done. Best hair cut my husband has ever had! We normally pay $40 every six weeks so this was GREAT find.

National Geographic on the table. TV on but not intrusive. Pomades and waxes all pleasantly displayed but not pushed. It felt old school. The guy who owns this place was wearing a waistcoat on the day we visited and I like to imagine he does that every day. He was very welcoming to a female in male territory (some other places we've visited have been a little unsure about Mummy tagging along too). He understood what style would work best for my son and made good a truly awful previous cut. A lollipop from inside a tin under the cash register at the end sealed the deal for my lad. At $25 it isn't cheap but I've learnt my lesson. Some things, including hairdressing, are not areas in which to make savings. No appointment necessary.

You can tell these guys have been around a while - the stories go around the block. They have classic rock playing in the background and all and all its a friendly vibe. Today the owner was trying out two new guys, definitely a big drop in the social engagement that you normally get. Hopefully it's not a permanent change. Only real issue is the price. At $30 a haircut - it's pretty dear.

Never again!!!!! The barber was rude, rough and insensitive. A big solid guy who would be better…read morewrestling than hairdressing! What ever happened to being nice to the customer. I closed my eyes and he yanked my head all over the place... I'm surprised I don't have whiplash! I said you need to be a bit more careful you are very rough and you knocked me in the head with the hair dryer. He said" Keep your head up straight next time!" Well I won't be going there again!!
