Abigayl is very engaging and the classes are well tailored to each level (I've been through a few!). Abigayl is very tuned in to everyone's language level and learning speed, and she makes language practice fun and practical (for example, she'll have you "shop" for groceries at the Peruvian "Walmart" :) ). She engages everyone in the class and makes them feel comfortable. She offers a range of learning resources both in class and for individual learning outside of class. I purchased several math classes for my granddaughter over a 3-5 month period prior to COVID-19…read more Our experience with Sylvan at that time was great and the director scheduled a meeting every 3 weeks to discuss her progress with me. After she finished the Math courses and prior to COVID starting, I purchased a reading class. Although the Sylvan centers in this area were still offering masked classes, I did not feel comfortable with my granddaughter attending - so I deferred sending her even though I'd already paid the money. Over a year later, after vaccines started and COVID was better, I contacted Sylvan to have my granddaughter start her class. This session was as different as day and night from the previous Math sessions. Whereas the staff had been very open and engaging, I found that I had to call or email several times to even get answers to any questions I had. The day prior to my granddaughter's last class, I realized that she'd had no reviews. I emailed Sylvan and asked if they still provided those. They said yes and for me to make an appointment. Well that was totally useless as she only had one more day of instruction left. I hate to say it, but I think since the money I'd paid them had already been spent over a year ago, they somehow didn't feel that they needed to be as engaged as before. Needless to say, I probably wouldn't use Sylvan again.

Stay away! We were unhappy with the services (kid just put on a tablet with no real teacher…read moreinstruction). The policy is if you stop within 60 days you can get a refund. We put our notice in and did everything right. The refund is supposed to take up to 45 days. We are past day 60 now and have been lied to and given the run around. Told it was mailed. Didn't get anything in the mail. Tonight my husband called the center director and she said she had nothing to do with the refund a d gave him a 800 number to call to check on the status. He repeated it back to her and she confirmed. When he called the number, it was an adult hotline. Not a place you want to deal with. Sorry we ever stepped foot in the place.
