Very Disappointing Experience - Will Not Be Returning…read more This was my first visit to this office after switching dentists. I had to wait approximately one month for an appointment. The purpose of my visit was to have my tooth examined/scanned and to have a filling replaced. I had previously received fillings from my former dentist and had no issues with that treatment. Since I recently moved to Suffolk County, I decided to switch to this dentist. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The doctor came in and, within approximately two minutes, told me in a very rude and dismissive manner that she absolutely could not perform a filling on the tooth. She stated that the tooth was not a good candidate for a root canal and recommended having the tooth extracted. She also stated that even after the extraction, the adjacent tooth could potentially become loose and might also need to be extracted. When we explained that the tooth had previously been filled by my former dentist and that the filling had recently come out, the doctor responded, in a very loud and disrespectful tone, essentially saying, "Then go to that dentist. I'm not doing it." I understand that a dentist may determine that a filling or other treatment is not appropriate. However, the way this information was communicated was extremely unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. Patients should be treated with respect and spoken to in a calm and professional manner, even when the recommended treatment is extraction rather than a filling. Initially, we were also told that there were no treatment options and that there was nothing she could do. Only after we specifically requested medication for the infection and pain did she prescribe antibiotics and ibuprofen. I will not be returning to this office and will be looking for another dentist. I hope the doctor takes this feedback seriously and improves the way she communicates with patients in the future.

I live in East Patchogue and managed to find an office close by that accepted my new insurance. However, that was not a good experience. I'm 64 years old and I've been going to the dentist regularly for most of my life. I know the difference between good and bad dental service. The girls at United Healthcare in Copiague recommended Seaport Dental and I couldn't be happier with their recommendation. From the front desk to the exam rooms this place is awesome. As soon as I walked in they made me feel welcome. I had X-Rays, a cleaning, an exam and the replacement of a filling and never once felt any pain. I can't say enough great things about this place. When I met Dr. Panchal, he was nice and polite. He told me exactly what to expect. He was courteous, very nice and answered all my questions before starting. He also waited until I was comfortable before starting. His office was full, but he spent time with me. Dr. Panchal applied little sedation, quickly extracted the tooth (maybe 8 min) and it was nearly painless! I spent more time asking him questions. I told him it must have been an easy extraction. On the contrary, he said he had trouble extracting because of the location (last molar) so he cut my gums, split my tooth and had to take out in pieces, but I didn't even feel it. He even followed up with me after 2 days to make sure all was well. He is Ivy League trained. He graduated Columbia Dental School. Educated, smart, nice and very capable, I give him the highest recommendation.
