I've been to this barber shop one time before and tony cut my hair and it turned out great, I went in to get a haircut yesterday, i have longer hair and asked for 2 inches off and had pictures of my hair to show exactly how i wanted it. Older man named John cut my hair this time, he cut off at least 4 inches and cut my hair crooked and was shaking the entire time during the haircut. He left my hair completely butchered and looking terrible, i asked for a very simple haircut and even that couldn't be done. If you go to this shop i recommend tony only, this ruined my experience though and i will not be coming back anymore. read more

I recently moved to Plainfield so I was looking for a new barber shop to get my ears lowered at, when I checked Yelp! and found Lincoln Way Barber Shop. I was so excited when I found this place that I forgot to check in! This is an Old school barber shop that still uses a straight razor, warm shaving cream and a little Aqua Velva to finish off your cut. According to the Barbers there, this has been a barber shop since the 1880's but its not a place where old codgers hang out to complain about young whipersnappers, its a full on Barber shop and doesn't have an old fogey feeling about it at all. There are lots of bars and shopping downtown, so you can ditch the wife for a few minutes, get a haircut and have a good conversation to boot ! read more

I walk in for a haircut. Shorter Older gentleman in middle chair asks me what are we doing... low taper 1.5 in the side clean part and trim the top... I even have pictures from 4 different angles from my normal barber... he comments "well I might not be able to do that. You been going to a super cuts!" Excuse me? I have gone to barbershops my whole life!!! We aren't drawing designs or anything crazy!! It's a low taper and trim the top!!! I told him look if you can't do what I want tell me now!!! It's obviously easier to take it off than it is to put it back on! He literally buzzed the sides of my head and did NOTHING TO THE TOP! Looks terrible! I figured let's get outa the chair before he screws it up even more!!! No chance I ever go back and NO CHANCE I would recommend THAT GUY to anyone! Simple instructions w/blade length and PICTURES and he still screwed it up! And mind you I gave him an OUT saying if he couldn't do it to tell me right then and there. Worst haircut I've ever had in my life. Sides were terribly uneven, neck looked like it was lined up by a blind person, my hairline was shaved (but only half of it). Immediately went home and had my family member fix it, who has zero experience in cutting hair, and they still managed to make it look 10 times better than it was when I left. I had a good experience going for my first cut here, got a taper and and younger barber did an amazing job. I went in again and the older barber did my hair this time and i told him how i wanted it. The taper went up to the top of my forehead and i was wondering what this fool was doing, at the end i just ended up shaving my head because of how bad it was. Homie was also chewing like a fucking cow next to my hear and his hands were shaking, how is this guy allowed to even cut hair. He should just stay home instead of completely messing up peoples hair. I have been going to the shop for the past few months. Tony does my hair right every time. I get a razor fade high and tight, and walk out looking great every time. Old school look and feel, as well as service. Warm lather and a straight razor just like when i was a kid. I can only recommend Tony as he is the only one to cut my hair. This shop messed up my hair pretty badly, and unfortunately I will not be going back. It's not even the style the was wrong, but the basics were completely off. There were visible lines all over my head, one side was cut higher and shorter than the other, and the top was not evened out properly and was cut to different lengths. My hair was left looking like a rat's nest when I left and was not even combed like I had asked or made to look presentable at all. The barber was kind and appeared to take his time, but clearly there is a lack of experience. Ultimately I had to go get my hair fixed a few days later at a different place, and even the other stylist was surprised at how messed up this was. If you do go here, I would highly recommend asking for Tony. I will say that he was NOT the one that cut my hair, but I wish he had because he seemed to be the most experienced. I moved to Plainfield 2 years ago and needed a new barber. I have used all 3 barbers there and like Tony's work the best. Don't get me wrong the other 2 are good but I just prefer to have Tony cut my hair. At my old barber shop in Downer Grove I always had the same guy do my hair until he retired. When I find someone I like a stay with them. Today when I went for a cut there were 7 in line ahead of me. I told Tony I will be back later. This is an old line barber shop. They do traditional cuts and nothing fancy. If you're looking for some kind of specific "fade" forget about it. Find yourself another barber. It you want a straight haircut at a specific length this is the place to go. The price is reasonable at $16.00 and conversation is good and the cuts are even and straight. Plus they clean up the hairline and neck with a straight razor. Love these guys. read more

The barbers throughout the years have always done great work and keep fun conversations going so everyone feels like they are family. Old school, no frills barber shop. Sports or news on the TV, check. Daily newspaper on a bench, check. Random guy talk about your job, your car, sports or current news, check. If you are a guy, stop going to those sport clip strip mall stores and go see these guys. We moved to Plainfield about 3.5 years ago, and after using a couple of the chain "salons", I found this actual barber shop. The barber's are experts, the shop is clean and convenient, the conversation is agreeable, just as you would like. The only two disappointments, both of which I completely understand, 1) it is a cash only business, no credit card, and 2) For a number of good reasons, they don't do Barber shaves.
